Is hardwood with gesso(plaster-over-wood) face and is imported from France. It has a date of 5-12-2013 on a sticker on the back. It is in excellent condition with the only notable damage being on the bottom corners which would hardly be noticeable and could easily be touched up with a paint pen. It would be perfect for a gallery or loved piece in a home. It is very large. The inner measurements of it are 28" x 36" the measurements on the back of the inset are 29" x 39" to hold the painting in place. The outside of the frame measures 36" wide by 46" tall by 2.5" thick. Up for auction is an antique 19th Century folk art Black Forest style picture frame. With what appears to be original glass, recently found at auction in the Chester County, PA area. It is found in good used condition. There are half flower style flower carvings in a repeating pattern form. It may be hand carved. Regardless, it is of very fine quality. This frame will accommodate any 5 1/2" x 11" The overall size of the entire frame is approximately 10" x 15 1/2" in size. There are a few air bubbles in the glass, indicating age. The attractive openwork is highly decorated in Gothic style. Intricate designs. Its attractive color gives it appearance carved Ebony wood. It stands on a couple of feet. The decoration is formed by different friezes surrounding the central opening. It has the original metal back and clasps with hinged easel and hanging loop. Its interior has been professionally re-lined with fine French Moiré. It bears no chips or cracks whatsover. It is in superb antique condition. The metal back has the original painting with rust traces due to its long life, see pictures please. It measures 10 7/8” in height by 7 3/8” across to its widest point and 5 ¼” by 3 ¾” to the opening where the pictures ... moregoes, it weighs 20.70 oz or 588 grams. HUGE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN RETICULATED WOOD GESSO FRAME GAUGIN STYLE PRINT 31" x 27"
This huge and deep gesso and wood carved frame is from a downtown Charleston estate purchased 11 plus years ago. It holds a print which is Gaugin reminiscent with the Tahitian women and a typical Polynesian scene. I did remove the print and it was being held in with a piece of cardboard on the rear with a label on it from a Philadelphia store and the address of the woman where the package was delivered.to a Ms. Lona Etheredge in Batesburg. SC and the label is dated 1953. She was born in 1887 and died in 1973. She had been in the women's clothing business for years and had a store in Batesburg, SC so it makes perfect sense that she owned the frame and print at that time. It was very shortly after that she sold her clothing store. Pair Large VTG Victorian style Metal Frame Convex Bubble Glass Italy Boroque
Two bubble convex glass metal framed pictures with a peasant farmer scene. They no longer have the sticker"made in Italy" but I've seen them before with the sticker. There are no cracks. Breaks or chips. The back of the one with the man is loose but fits snuggly when inserted and is the original back but won't stay unless glue is applied and I didn't want to do that just in case someone wanted to replace the prints with something else.
