SIEBERT(b.1826- d. 1898) of Toledo. Ohio. Due to the age. it became brittle and some paper loss occurred. I used archival tape both on the back of the photo and written documentation to help preserve. The letter gives names and dates of deaths. Occupations and there is talk of how two of Otto Siebert's cousins fell in France(World War One) One died of wounds after returning home. This photo would look great in a period frame and it's nice that some of the family history remains intact. The photo measures 8" x 10" and the loose leaf letter measures 9" x 11" When viewing the pictures of the auction item. Please take note of the*actual measurements* of the item in description. It measures 17 ¼ inches by 21 ¼ inches and surprisingly, this painting is unsigned. When this painting was properly laid down, there were several small spots that were in-painted. You can see them clearly in our blacklight photographs. Our photograph lighting makes a light rub, just to the right of the boys head, stand out more than it does in natural light. The large majority of this circa 1880s portrait Oil Painting is perfect and it comes in a 22 inch wide by 30 inch tall 19 th century gold gilt frame. The glass looks original with a few bubbles if you hold it just right. The back looks original with the old nails and a string that looks like it may be original also. The frame has 4 step downs. Gorgeous antique vintage very large picture frame. Wood and gesso composition on this very large picture frame. Very ornate gold design on both the large outer border and smaller inner border. Don't mind that there is a portrait of a cute little dog! Just found today at an estate sale. The estate's brother told me that this was an old family pet that had since passed on. The frame itself measures a whopping 26 1/2" x 30 1/2" The interior measurements are 16" x 20" Very nice condition ~ I had to look closely at the frame to see if I could find anything wrong with it. And with the exception of a few tiny spots of the gold missing in the gesso, it is very nice shape. The glass was replaced when they put the portrait of the dog in it, as it looks like it is non-glare type of glass. Does have a hanger wire on the back, ... morebut probably should be replaced with a heavier grade, as this frame is quite heavy too. Because of its size boxed up. This is an old antique 19th Century Victorian era shadow fox frame with its original stunning porcelain plate with the blue beehive mark and a Mother and daughter portrait. This is fresh off the wall of the parlour of a well decorated Victorian grand home in KC. It was stunning in that room that also had a grand piano. The shadow box frame is 16" by 16" by 2 1/2" The black shadow box has a little wear to the black patina on left lower corner that would be easy to touch up or ignore. The inner gold gilt frame is stunning and in wonderful condition. The glass is original with waves you all love. I opened it up to check out the plate and seen it has a 1 1/4" hairline on the rim on the back. See photo 11 and 12. It looks like the nail could of done this decades ago. I did not remove the plate. The front seen through the glass ... morelooks to be in excellent condition. Since the plate has a hairline I would say the main value is in the shadow box frame. Antique Victorian picture portrait 1895
This picture is dated 1895. The photo itself is adhered to the glass. So its all one piece. Someone tried scratching the back of the photo as I have depicted in picture number 5, which was taken held up to the light. You can see some of the scratches from the front, but it's still a beautiful picture. I do not know who the woman is but it appears a name is listed in the bottom left. I took that picture through the magnifying glass. The picture originated in upstate New York. The woman clearly is not wearing a bra and looks very feminine. These are two matching antique victorian brass filigree picture frames. They are very old and were acquired at an estate auction of a very prominent town citizen. Their features are many: convex glass. Beautiful filigree frame, center photo panel measuring 1-1/8" x 2-1/8" The frames themselves measure 4-1/8"x 5-1/8" 6-1/8" including the ornate top. The background panel is ivory velvet with handpainted rosebuds and leaves. The backing is dark green velvet and has the hanger attached to it- even the clips that hold the green back on have etchings on them. The center pictures are of beautiful victorian ladies. This is oil on velvet, stretched across wood and framed up top and bottom with INTRICATELY carved wooden pediments, with a subtle gold paint, appears to be all original. Just gorgeous! I see NO flaws, unless, as stated above, there is any flaking of the paint, I am uncertain because of this being painted on a textured velvet, it could all be original, otherwise if it did flake at all, it would be very minor and isn't showing threat of continuing to flake. This is a large late 19th century antique deep well Victorian era Eastlake marbleized portrait frame with its original photo. I would date it circa 1880s. Overall. It measures 23 1/2 inches x 27 1/2 inches(59.7 cm x 69.9 cm) The back opening size is 18 1/2 inches x 22 1/4 inches(47 cm x 56.5 cm) The molding width is 2 3/4 inches(7 cm) It's fairly hard to find a frame this size in this style. It's all original. With no restoration. It has its original old photo. The photo has some places where it was eaten by silverfish and an approximately 1 1/2 inch(3.8 cm) tear just above the man's left shoulder. The frame has various spots with minor nicks. Light scratches and a few very small places with chipped gesso. But given the age of the frame, it's really minimal. It has its original bubbled and wavy glass. What appear to be old ... morescratches are actually just lines in the glass itself. It's a great looking piece of early glass! The frame has developed a beautiful old patina. This is an adorable old picture. It is framed with a pretty Victorian border. The framing paper does show age and minor damage. The corners of the paper are tearing slightly. There is a notch towards the bottom that may have held a nameplate of the couple. The frame is beautiful with a hint of gold paint that has faded to a dull bronze color. The frame measures 91x10.5: Other than the paper. This is in excellent antique condition.

I used an tiny easel to take the pictures but its not included. It has a black and white photograph circa late 19th century. It measures 11 1/2" wide by 13 1/4" high the oval area for the picture measures 9 1/2" tall by 7 1/2" wide. Around the edge of the oval opening. There are four swirly decorations. These are separated from the frame. Yet they are still attached. It appears that there is a metal rod connecting the separated pieces to the frame. I have seen antique frames repaired of their gesso losses. If you are wanting to repair this, read the last paragraph, it may help. We are a smoke free home. We have a cat who lives outdoors yet occasionally sneaks into ... morethe house. He isnt in the house long enough to affect the items in the house. IMO, with dander. The frame is excellent with wide outer border and narrow inner border in elegant gold gilt gesso and a middle border in medium-dark stained oak. There is very little to no gesso or paint loss. The gold gilding is original and quite darkened and spotty in some areas from age. The back is covered with a wood panel with wooden reinforcement slats over the top. The eye hooks and hanging wire are no longer intact. The portrait is in good condition. The charcoal is bold, not smudged or faded, but there is some staining on the paper, mainly on the lower right corner, and some light spottiness elsewhere. Antique Victorian Girl Child Portrait in Floral Gesso Wood Frame, Convex Glass
This is a fantastic original Victorian photograph of a young child from around the turn of the century. The frame is original with no missing gesso. But it looks like it was probably re-painted long ago. It does have some darkened age spots and hairline cracks in the gesso, but nothing is loose or missing. The photo is in good condition with no visible staining, but there are some damaged spots along the edge where the old nails poked through and scratched the surface of the photo. There is a new cardboard panel over the back and the nails have all been replaced. Then hanging wire is just an old piece of electrical cord wrapped around screws on each side and could use an upgrading.
