As found without ... morea frame. It is one of three by the same artist I currently have listed on my eBay sight. It is painted on silk on heavy paper. The condition is very good. There is slight soiling on the painting from age and from not being in a frame. There are no tares. Creases or folds in the image. At the two side edges there are some little folds in the silk fabric that occurred when it was being joined to the paper. They do not run into the image. The colors are naturally subdued but clear and bright. It measures 15-1/4 tall x 17-3/4 inches wide. A nice painting well worth a cleaning or left as is. Large Antique Faux Grained Picture Frame w/gold liner 21" x 30"
Large faux grained antique picture frame from the Victorian era(late 1800s) The frame has an ornate gold liner(liner and frame are all in one piece) The frame fits an approx 21 1/8 x 30 1/8 inch print or painting. Its exterior dimensions are approx 25 3/8 x 34 3/8 inches and it is 3/4 inches thick. The frame has been restored. But there is an area of missing faux graining in the center of the bottom of the frame as shown on the 2nd photo. Otherwise the frame is in very good condition with just a few dings, etc as typically seen on frames of this age. The shiny surface in the photos is linseed oil, not polyurethane. Old Wood Picture Frame Rounded Corners Eight Piece Construction 21 x 15
This old rounded corner picture frame is constructed from eight pieces of wood- four straight side pieces and four curved corner pieces. The pieces are cut so as to overlap at the joints. All joints are tight with no looseness. The front has been painted with either a very thick old style of paint or it was painted with normal paint over the typical thickness of a veneer. I cannot tell for sure which. The outside dimensions of the oval frame are approximately 21 x inches by 15 inches. The wood used to make the frame is approximately 2 inches wide and 1 inch thick. The color has taken a century to perfect, a glorious patina, in the full sunlight it is a rich burnt honey, And indoors with a bit indirect lighting it takes on a glowing sorrel/ honey brown, illuminating it to it's fullest potential, the old dings and knick's have darkened adding a character unto itself. It is beautifully trimmed in black all around outside and around inside as well. Up for auction is a vintage picture and frame with convex curved dome glass(often referred to as bubble glass) The frame is constructed in wood and plaster(wood frame with plaster ornamentation) The top border motif is of roses and leaves. The metallic gold painted plaster frame has a number of hairline cracks typical of vintage plaster frame construction but the cracks do not detract from the frame nor is the frame weaken by them; the frame is solid. Remember this a century old item that actually hung on walls and was likely touched up from time to time. The bubble glass has no cracks. On the inside of the glass it appears there are two spots that should clean off if the piece were disassembled. Selling this antique original flat ogee frame that would hold a picture or mirror. It came from an old Vermont estate. It is veneered over wood and has a crackle type finish with a little wear to the surface. The edges are flat raised and then the frame slants in to the opening. Outside measurement is 15 1/4" x 21 1/2" Opening site measurement is 10 1/4" x 16 1/2" with a 3/8" lip all around. Three of the four corners have itty bitty chips off the veneer and one side has a 1/4" square scuff nearest the inner edge. Raised edge attached with small square nails. VICTORIAN WALNUT FRAME WITH ORIGINAL GOLD LINER. Circa 1880’s– 1890’s, with an ANTIQUE PRINT from the same time, around 1880’s. Scene is a man on a horse with a dog in the foreground. The print is a cold scene. With what feels like the wind blowing. The print is dark– my camera glare makes it look a little brighter than it is. The print has a thin fabric backing. Made to look like a painting in the frame. There is tape around the back outside edges of the print to reinforce– see photo of back. The print has some“crackle” on it marked with red arrows. The crackle is on the left side near the edge. Lighter area in the center may be a discoloration on the print or may be original to the scene. Outer measurements of the frame are 17 ¼ inches by 21 ¼ inches. Opening for the glass is 14 inches by 18 inches. The frame is over 1 inch deep ... morefrom the side. Pretty good finish on the dark walnut. In good condition. Original gold tone liner in the frame. Good, with only a few slight discoloration spots, visible close-up. Vintage Dutch Style Picture Frame ex- Museum, ex- Sotheby's, 16x21" 16 x 21"
First off. Let me say I am not a frame expert, so please bear with me. This auction is for a high quality vintage(and perhaps antique) Dutch Style Frame. The exterior dimensions are 27" x 32-1/4" x 2-1/4" The current rabbet dimensions are 16" x 21-1/2" It looks like one end of the rabbit was lengthened by about 1/4" to 1/2" so the original rabbet was probably 16" x 21" The sight window is about 15" x 20-1/4" The width of the frame is 6" on each side. This frame and the painting that was in it was previously displayed for many decades at the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha. Nebraska and the tattered museum label is still attached to the back. The museum accession number(1934.26) is also written on the frame. I recently verified that this frame and the painting was indeed in their collection ... morefor many decades. It was deaccessioned in 1994. I recently purchased the frame and the German antique painting that was in it, but I have decided to switch out the frames, so I am selling this one. The painting inside the frame was painted in 1867, however, I don't think the frame was originally with the painting, as the rabbet appears to have been slightly lengthed to accommodate it. The painting was donated to the museum in 1934, but I'm not sure that the frame was with it at that time. I frankly do not know enough about frames to tell you when or where it was manufactured, but it definitely shows signs of many decades of age. The gold leaf along the inner edge shows age cracks that must have taken many decades to develop. If you are a frame expert and can tell me more about this frame I will post the info. What I can tell you is that this is a very well made frame that was on display in a major museum. It also sold with the painting at Sotherby's New York on 1-19-95(Lot 527) When I bought the painting and frame this year. I decided to change out the frame to an antique gold gilt frame, as the Dutch Style frame was too dark for the painting(in my opinion) and

Gesso has wear, missing pieces, cracks, from age. Wood has chipped pieces. Patina. Glass is intact for frame. Normal wear for age. Looks like wavy glass? hard to tell. On the backside.There are two pieces of wood with little nails on the inside to hold each picture. Aged wear to the wood on back. Old hanging wire attached. Print inside the frame. T his is a used vintage picture frame with picture. The frame is 21 3/4" X 15 1/2" X 1" The glass alone is 18 3/4" X 12 3/4" NOT sure of age. On the back as you see it's written what looks like William John with#448. The rest i can't make out real well but might be Woodsville NH. Glass has a couple light scratches. Has a few dings here and there as you see but overall in nice condition. I'm se lling for another party. Please see all pictures. NOT an expert on these. LOW price to move quick.
