Large Late 19th Century GOLD GILDED GESSO On WOOD Frame SUPERIOR SHAPE
The beautiful and ornate antique frame came with a painting in it. And the stretcher corner braces are marked"PAT Feb 13, 1883, June 16, 1885, A.D.S. which gives a very accurate date for this frames creation! The frame is solid and in remarkable condition for one of this age, with very minor damage to the gesso and some corner baldness(see photos 2,3, and 4 for examples! Approx. 50.75" X 46.75" with each side being 4 3/8" wide, it will accommodate a 42.25" X 38" canvas! I am selling the painting separately, partly because this frame is too large to fit in my car, so I hope to sell it for local pick-up! This frame has lots of character. It is just how I found it. With plenty of patina, dust, and even some old cobwebs. The frame seems to be solid, and in good condition. Judging by the hardware and construction, I believe it is probably late 1800's(but I am no expert) I think it was a mirror frame, but would make a beautiful picture or painting frame. Antique 19th Century Victorian Wood & Gesso Picture Frame Gilt Gold with Glass
Antique Victorian picture frame made of wood and gesso. It has an ornate design with some gilt. The frame measures 14-5/8" x 17-3/4" It does come with glass that is held in by nails on the back. The glass portion measures approximately 11 inches by almost 14 inches. There is a wire attached to the back for hanging. Overall this frame is pretty good condition with most of that gesso in tact. However it does show signs of age and wear. There are some small cracks in the gesso And some old green paint along the top. The glass does have one scratch. There os a picture. This gorgeous frame has a partial sticker on the back and is marked"Made in Japan" which would date it to the 1960s. Possibly early 1970s. It is wood, not composite, with a gesso type finish on the face. It is gold, faux gilt" with a black over glaze for depth of color. It does give the frame an"aged" appearance. This approx. 14" x 12" antique. Oval, gilded wood picture frame with gesso ornaments, was hand made in the"FRAMES and LOOKING GLASSES" workshop of APC Bonte in Cincinnati, Ohio in the second half of the nineteenth century. Part of the original label is still can be seen on the back. I do not know if the picture of a mother and her son in the 9 1/2" opening is also a period antique, but I am positive that the black touch-ups on it were not made by Photoshop or Corel Draw. The frame and the picture is in very good to excellent condition, but the gesso decoration was shaved off from the outer rim of the frame for some times ago. Rare Antique Mid 19th Century Oval Brass Shell On Wood Frame (#2)
Please note that I will be listing two of these frames separately tonight. One a little larger than the other. This one is the larger one. This is a rare antique mid-19th-century oval brass shell on wood frame. It dates from the 1840s. It measures 14 7/8" x 13 1/4" 37.8 cm x 33.7 cm) It fits a picture size 12 1/4" x 10 1/2" 31 cm x 26.7 cm) The molding is 1 5/8" wide(4.1 cm) This is an American frame made of a brass shell molding. Which is crimped over the sides of the wood molding. As you can see in the photos. The wood has shrunk a bit leaving two thin openings. But these do not affect the sturdiness of the frame at all. The photos of the various sections of the frame aren't in any particular order. As I was getting confused! There are two small dents on it. There are also four small reverse dents. On about ... morehalf of the outer rim there is a light reddish color that has developed. I believe it's from age(please see photo) I don't feel these take away from the old world feel of the frame. This is a stunning antique 19th century victorian era oval frame. it has thick clear bubble glass which has a great domed shape. the wooden frame has exquisite very ornate detailing done in high relief. some of the tips are gilded in black color. the curved. Open part of the frame has nice brown and black grain pattern. it is in nice antique shape and the opening measures 16 by 19 1/2 inches, the frame itself measures 21 by 25 inches. there is a chip that has been painted black but not to noticeable. 20th C Vintage Mid-Century 6.5 x 9 wood beaded wood frame
Up for auction is a vintage ca 1940's 1950's 6.5 x 9" wood frame with glass and vertical hanger recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia PA area. There are small losses to the beading and edges. The vertical hanger on top is still very good condition. The glass is not bubble glass so we put this in the 40's or 50's. Nut and berry raised motif. Not sure as to the exact color. If it is cherry wood color or either mahogany wood color. Has 8 x 10 rectangular recessed back. Antique 19th Century Ornate Wood Bubble Dome Glass Oval Picture Frame 22"x25"
Fantastic Victorian era ornate oval picture frame with curved/ dome glass. This is one of the larger sizes measuring approx. 25" long x 22" wide. The frame has numerous small rubs/ dings/ chips consistent with a 100+ year old hand crafted frame. The frame is solid wood. With high relief appliqué gold accented moldings and a brushed finish that gives the wood a tiger strip appearance. The frame and glass both appear original and un-altered in any way. I have only seen one other frame like this one and it was identical in every way except it was smaller than this one. It might be hard to tell from the pictures, but the glass is domed shaped with about 2" of curve from the center to the edge. The shipping cost reflect the added packaging and insurance to ensure safe arrival.

Vintage HUGE MODERNISM Mid-Century Gold Heavy Pine Wood Frame 26 x 30 c.1940s
Here is a very large. Heavy custom/hand-made pine picture frame. It measures 33 x 36 ins. in total and 26 x 30 ins. insert rabbet size. This is painted gold( not gilded) with an old original red paint or bole undercoat. This frame used to house a late 1940s oil portrait. So I would date this to the same time period to very early 1950s time period. The frame has multiple pieces of wood nailed and glued together. And at the top right corner someone nailed some more in to secure it at some point in time.That has caused a surface crack in the wood from the top right corner and the downward piece of wood about 4 x 7 ins. That can be re-glued and fixed if it bothers you. Shown below. It is very sturdy. Heavy and solid. The molding is 4 1/2 ins. wide. The frame has some minor gouges, scrapes, nicks, etc. all from age and handling.Please know this ... moreis a VINTAGE frame, so perfectionists will have to look for a new one and let the vintage lovers appreciate this one. Extra large picture 20x16 painting frame vintage mid century gold gilt wood
This is an older but well loved extra large picture frame with white canvas inner trim. The size and weight makes it perfect for a mantle mirror. Or an oil painting. The finish is specked gold gilt in color. The image opening is 20" x 16" And it is strung to hang either portrait or landscape. The overall size is 27.75" x 23.75" There is no glass.

Outstanding ANTIQUE 19th Century Gilt Wood & Gesso PAINTING FRAME And Painting
This is an excellent example of a late 19th Century frame in good. Mostly original condition. the outer edge/corners has some gesso loss in places but this is typical of an antique finish. The outer ornament has the usual fine cracks in the composition ornament and aged/distressed patina, there may have been some overpainting in places although this does not detract too much from the overall look and quality of the frame. The pattern appears to have oak leaves on the outside and grapes and grape leaves inside. Please see the pictures for details. External size: 12.25" x 14.375" or 311 mm x 365 mm Opening size: 7.5" x 9.5" or 191mm x 241.3mm Thickness: 2 1/8" or 54mm It comes with some type of oil painting on a board of what looks like a little child or boy in a chair. It isn't signed and I think the frame is nicer ... morethan the painting. So the art comes free w it.

jointed wood picture frame mid century vintage beige post 1940 John Wayne pic
This is an older image of John Wayne. I couldn't find the exact image in my searches but many many similar to it. This is great purchase if you are a John Wayne fan because you also get a cool vintage frame with it. I bought this at a garage sale of a 91 year old woman along with some great cast iron cookware. I am keeping the cast iron LOL. This wood frame measures 7 1/4 X 9 1/4. It contains an old printed image of John Wayne. The jointed woodwork on this frame is very well done. When you look at the corners you can see the wood pins that join the frames corners. Even more unique is the way the frame slides apart at the bottom in order to open it up. I have a vintage Hama frame with similar joints. The frame is in used condition and has flaws expected due to it's age. This item will be sold as is. VINTAGE ORIGINAL OIL PAINTING CLOWN MID CENTURY WOOD FRAME
Ok everything about this clown says the 50's. The background color, the the sort of bowling insignia style signature, and birds eye wood tray maple? frame, but it is not dated. This artist did a great job catching that sad, happy, slightly scary, poking from behind the mask aspect of clowns! I like the floating no body aspect. Ok that is all i got enjoy and Thanks for looking! Frame measures 18/12 by 22 1/2 it is 2 1/2 inches wide and 2 1/4 inches deep. It has patina and is raw, unfinished.It is ready to hang the picture is 18 x 14. It is on a canvas board.
