I'll admit. I don't know as much about antique picture frames as some other antiques I watch. However, a friend of mine asked me to look at it and put it on ebay. From what I have seen, this appears to be a one-of-a-kind hand carved frame. Likely mid 1800's. Wish I had the picture that was in it. I opened up the framing and saw a interesting antique stock share holder paper backing the picture. It has a date but couldn't find the year on it, perhaps it has been cut off. The frame is in very good condition for age, it does have some minor chips on top of roses' petals, they are unnoticeable. I believe this is a late 19th century piece, possibly was from France. Antique/Vintage 1800's Hand Carved Tramp Art Frame. Great Condition, 17" x 13" Up for sale is an antique Folk art/Tramp art picture frame with an old picture in it. The frame is what they call Tramp Art. Over a 100 years old, hand made folk art. It's a really neat frame and definitely is old. All wood with inner Gold trim. It's in really good shape. The front has very little wear/tear, it looks like there was an additional leaf on the other top left corner, but not positive, It's solid and complete. The inside trim is gold and shows some wear. The back has no wire, Will need to be replaced. It has just about all it's nails on the back to hold the picture, very rustic backing with one split and a crack so the back piece will also would need proper repairing, there is one chunk out of the back left corner of the ... moreframe(see picture) still has the eye loops for wire, no glass.this is a great piece for collectors. The picture is an old print of the residence of Alvin Buck Esq. Co.unfortunately someone wrote $2.00 on it. I am not sure when, this frame came from a friend who has had it for many years, but the frame is the most collectible. The actual opening for the picture measures approx. 14 1/2" long x 11" tall The outside dimensions are: 17" long x 13" tall from side to side. The frame has replaced feet and there is a carved hole in the top that probably held a ball finial. This exquisite frame features intricate pierced carving with birds and flowers. This a Beautiful Antique hand carved frame from around the turn of the Century. Early 1900's. With intricate sculpted Gesso laid on a hand carved wood frame. Opening measures 19 1/2"L x 15 1/2"H with a 5/8" mounting inset. Actual frame has a 4" width. The Filigree scroll pattern of this frame is very detailed, with the holes having been carved out by hand(there are visible tooling marks. At over a hundred years old there is plenty of genuine wear and character. But only lost gesso on one corner and an outer edge. No glass. Which i prefer as the Post has a habitual way of breaking things. All Vintage or Antique items are represented"as is" through age and use pieces may have acquired nicks, scratches, chips and cracks, which help to develop a preferred patina, but be aware that items are represented exactly, ... moreso make sure to carefully view the High def. images and ask any questions you may have. The photo is DARK– bright flash from camera makes it brighter than it looks. Has probably darkened over the past 100 years but the gold tone frame highlights it. STILL A VERY CUTE LITTLE BOY! Some gesso carving missing– noticeable on one top corner. On the wall. Hardly noticeable. A little touch-up to the fluting around the opening for the photo. Antique hand carved wood picture frame 14x16 With 1881 CONFIRMATION CERTIFICATE
This listing is for an antique wood picture frame that contains an authentic 1881 Confirmation certificate. Both are used/pre-owned. Please read the Condition section for further details on how they grade. The Confirmation Certificate is in a foreign language which I believe to be German It is hand dated Mai 1. 1881(aka May 1, 1881) The certificate measures 9 and 1/2 inches by 11 and 1/2 inches. The certificate shows several dramatic religious images(see Scan 2) culminating with Our Lord, Jesus Christ, crucified on the cross at the center near the bottom. Though I can not read German, this is obviously a Christian religious certificate. There are two signatures just above Jesus on the cross, see Scan 4. One of those is most likely a priest and the other possibly could be a Bishop as Bishops normally preside over Confirmation ceremonies There ... moreis some small print under Jesus on the cross(see Scan 5) which reads" LITH.U.VERLAG V. LEOPOLD GAST, ST.LOUIS- 1628 SECOND CARONDELET AVENUE" and in really tiny print underneath that it reads" ENTERED ACCORDING TO ACT OF CONGRESS IN THE YEAR 1875 BY LEOPOLD GAST IN THE OFFICE OF THE LIBRARIAN OF CONGRESS AT WASHINGTON D.C. The picture frame's exact measurements are 14 and 1/2 inches by 16 and 1/2 inches. The photo area within the frame is 9 and 1/2 inches by 11 and 1/2 inches. The outer edge of the frame looks to be adorned with hand carved wood. See Scan 7. There are depressions along the frame's edge by design which have small circles inside them which looks to be how that edging is attached to the framework underneath. I am NOT an expert with picture frames. When I saw the 1881 certificate inside the frame. Old picture frame. Measuring inside holes approx. 8 1/2" X 6 3/4" It's really nicely made, I believe from cigar box wood. Only problem is someone decided to cut-off two of the"arms" See the pictures and how the frame has arms on three sides, but not the fourth. I've tried to take pictures to detail. Antique Late 19th Century Art Nouveau French Hand Carved Frame
This is a very impressive antique late 19th century French handcarved frame. I must say. It's both beautiful and handsome at the same time. There is newspaper writing on the back in French dated December 1888. It has a wonderful Art Nouveau feeling about it. Overall. It measures 20 inches across and 23 7/8 inches tall(50.8 cm x 60.6 cm) The picture opening size is approximately 9 1/4 inches x 12 3/4 inches(23.5 cm x 32.4 cm) The site edge is 9 inches x 12 1/2 inches(22.9 cm x 31.8 cm) These measurements are all approximations, due to the uniqueness of the frame. The frame is approximately 2 inches deep from the front to the wall(5.1cm) The detail on the frame is just beautiful. The carving is very intricate and must have been done by a very skilled and talented carver. The work on this frame is just lovely. The corners are each covered ... morein veneer(please see photos) I believe that at one time the sides were also covered in veneer. But at one point someone took it off due to chipping and tried to make it all blend in. I must say they did a pretty good job except for a couple of areas. For instance, on the top left corner, the veneer just ends. On the other three corners, it blends in with the other wood. On the corner where it just ends, there is also a chip to the corner and a 1 inch by 1/2 inch(2.5 cm x 1.3 cm) chunk out of the wood(please see photos) I actually hadn't noticed this veneer damage until I started photographing it. There are a couple of very tiny dings and one small chipped off piece(in the top right area) to the floral carving on the oval section. In order to put a picture into it. You must first unscrew the front off. The screws go in through the back and into the oval front piece. There is no glass. It's developed a beautiful patina over the years. It weighs 7 lbs. 13 oz. 3.5 kg) It has what I always look for in frames. That wonderful old world look!

This is a stunning antique high quality 19th century Victorian hand carved black forrest wood picture frame. it is cut completely by hand with an abundance of very intricate detailing and is 8 sides. the opening is in a circular format with a raised trim. the detailing is very intense and the closer you look the more detail you can see. it is a table frame or can even be hung on the wall. it has a pivoting arm on the back to stand up. the frame measures 7 1/2 inches wide. the opening measures 4 1/2 inches. the piece is in good shape. Antique Picture Frame made by Walfred Thulin 1926. This Frame is Hand carved and finished with gold leaf using traditional water gilding techniques. The finish has a lite rub just enough to see the lap lines. The Frame is 88 years old and it has been around the block the edges. High points, corners show wear, and one of short lengths has a crack in the rabbet. Measurements 32 1/2 x 40 1/2 inside, 38 1/2 x 46 1/2 outside, profile 3 1/2 x 2, and rabbet depth 3/8.
