Antique 22" x 17" Dark Black Wood Picture Frame with Gold Leaf Gilt Border 1890
This is one of the most attractive antique frames that I have on ebay right now. It is a simple frame but I find it to be a really beautiful frame. This frame is from around the 1890s and is mostly a dark black with a bright gold leaf inside border. The rabbet measures about 22" x 17" Each side of the frame measures about 1 3/8" wide. On the side of the frame near one of the corners. There is a good sized chip(measuring about 1" x 1/4" and a crack extending from that chip. However, this damage does not effect the structural integrity of the frame and it not visible when the frame is hanging on the wall as it is on the side of the frame. Because you can't see it, I would still say this frame is still in very good condition. This frame is really gorgeous. Antique American Gold Leaf Picture Frame, Gilt Frame, Old Glass, circa 1850
Offered for sale we have an antique gold leaf picture frame. Probably dating from 1840 to 1860. This is a dark gold frame, that I think has darkened a bit more with age. The rabbet size is 24" X 15 7/8" with about 1/8" allowance) the outside of the frame is 26 1/2" X 18 1/2. The moulding is 1 5/8" wide. Besides the glass and old paper back, there's another 1/4" of rabbet depth. This is a great antique frame, but it does have some condition issues. As you can see in the pictures, there are chips on all four corners. Though there are chips, the gesso and gold leaf on the frame is firmly attached an has no inclination to chip any more. The bottom rail has darkened with age, and has dark discoloration in the cove. This you can see in the 6th picture. There are spots on the gold, but especially on the right hand ... moreside, in the cove. The frame was joined with splines, then nailed at a later date. The two upper corners are not tight, as you can see in the pictures. There's a chip on the side of the upper left hand corner that is not pictured, it would be close to the wall, not visible from the front. The side of the frame cants in a bit at the back, towards the wall. The frame has nice. Old wavy glass, a Victorian print, and thin crummy old paper backing. Due to the discoloration on the bottom side, this frame really should be used the way it's hanging now. It would be great for an antique portrait, early sampler, or vertical still life or landscape. It would not look good with the darkened rail being on the side, I think it would look lopsided. Please look carefully at the photos, and ask a question if you have one. Personally, I love these old, hard to find gilt frames, but this one is far from perfect, and if the defects bother you, I'm sure there are many frames in better condition available. If you're looking to frame an Old Master piece in an appropriate frame. Then this could be the one you're looking for. It's an Italian frame, finished in what I think is gold leaf, and I think it probably dates from the 1920s. This frame comes with a beautiful spandrel and can be used with or without it. Without the spandrel, the rabbet is 11&1/2" by 11&1/2. With it, the diameter is 9&3/4. Overall, the frame is 15" by 15. Condition is as found and as shown. Large antique Aesthetic Period picture frame/gold leaf/beautifully crafted
A large and very impressive antique frame of the American Aesthetic Period. Circa 1880-90. It is oak with wonderful and sophisticated decoration and design. It looks like the oak is washed in gold and the decorative elements around the borders are finished with gold leaf. There are also some black paint appointments on some of the flowers and the beading. I don't know who made this frame but it is of the best craftsmanship. There are some numbers on the back that may be a clue to the maker. Overall size of the frame is 31" by 36. Interior rabbet is 22" by 27. Condition is as found and as shown. There are a few beads lost and the interior liner shows some loss by rubbing- probably a maid with a water-based cloth that removed some of the leaf. The patina is great and might even be better once dusted and cleaned up a bit. Antique Gold Acanthus Leaf Decorative Frame
This is a gorgeous antique gold acanthus leaf decorative frame. I would date it early 20th century. This frame has beautiful detail all over. It's made of composition over wood. Overall. The frame measures 14 3/8 inches by 13 3/8 inches(36.5 cm x 34 cm) The back opening size is 10 7/8 inches by 9 7/8 inches(27.6 cm x 25 cm) The molding width measures 2 inches(5.1 cm) The background color is a gold matt color and the elevated leaves are a shinier gold. It's not gold gilt. But a great old gold color. One corner has damage. With the tip of the leaf broken off in three places(please see photo) Another corner has an extremely tiny chip on the leaf and a pinhead hole right near it. The other two are in very good shape. Large 33”X 40” Antique Silver Leaf Gilt Lemon Gold Frame – Circa 1880
This is a great large old hard to find frame in very good condition. It measures 33” by 40” inches on the outside and the site size(inside measurements) are 26 ½” by 33 ½” and it is 3” wide. Just like my other two frames it’s got great deep gold color and a nice shine and it’s in fantastic condition waiting for that special item or a mirror to be framed. It’s in great condition! There is normal aging and very little chipping. You will be very pleased with this frame as its not painted gold like many of the others you will find on Ebay! It’s shown with a mirror in the picture but the mirror is not included as its too expensive and hard to ship. Shipping the mirror would cost you more than buying a new one anyway! It is made primarily of real wood with cast decorative florets in all for corners and finished with gold gilding. When looking very closely at the florets you will see a few very minor hairline fractures- this is what would be considered"natural patina" The outer measurements of the frame are: 9" wide, a little less than 7.5" tall and 1.25" deep off the wall. As per this fame's age even the backing is real wood. Additional info: This frame was uncovered along with 3 antique watercolor paintings. I found it a non issue due to their age and charm. even set next to one another very hard to notice. one measures just about 12" tall. 8 1/2" wide. the second is just about 12" tall. and only 7 3/4" at her widest. they are painted in gold. some paint loss. where they are broken a very shiny silver metal shows. again unsure of metal. almost swear it is lead. color wise and softness. but unsure. they have their original glass intact. the backside with a ribbed metal backing. they have a built in stand. just seriously lovely. despite their"charm marks" romantic and old and u
