This primitive settle table/bench is a great country piece with traces of original paint showing. The top tilts up to reveal a bench with storage compartment. It measures 29" high with a surface of 48" x 33" There is blue paint on the interior and white and green paint on the outside areas. It has been stripped of most of the paint but still has a fantastic look. 2 of the pins are original and 2 are new. Pickup is preferred but we do have a shipper available. antique walnut mahogany tilt top table turned pedestal thick skirt period early
first off the pictures are really bad. The white spots i think are dirty spots on my lens that i can't seem to get off. at any rate, for auction is a wonderful early period piece. i expect it was made circa 1860 or so. it has a very thick skirt both high and wide. all original as far as i can tell, pegged together. tilts and locks perfectly. it is as solid as a rock and does not wiggle, wobble, creak, or move in anyway other that it is intended to do. the pedestal is a nice turned mahogany piece as well as the three legs. legs are drilled for casters but there are none in it, but it would require a short shank caster with sleeve. these are easy to come by should you want some. there is a large beaded molding along the bottom of the skirt. there are a few pieces of the beading missing but it is not noticeable. the top appears to be walnut, ... morethe secondary joist supports are oak i believe. it is not uncommon for these early pieces which are hand crafted to be constructed of several type woods. it is a wonderful piece. it is 30 inches wide and 29 inches tall without caster. any question please ask. i gave 700 for it quite some time ago. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. good luck.

The scalloped top of the pie crust table is just amazing. Just a couple of marks on the top of it to report. I think the table is most likely made of mahogany. But you be the judge. The table base and top appear to all be intact. I see no repairs to the base. Hard to tell with the top. Based upon how made, but again all the pieces seem to be there. Check out the claw carvings on the three legs. The spindle bottom finial and then the spindles for the base of the table that hinges where the locking pegs are. The locking pegs look appropriate to the table, one the once removed, the top can be hinged to the side for storing along a wall, and the other that allows the top to be ... moreremoved from the base. for sale is a nice antique tilt top pie crust walnut table. the table is well made and works perfectly. it has a nice finish which appears to be original. it sits on a central carved pedestal with three carved legs pegged into the bottom of the central support column. the legs have ball and claw feet which is a great feature. these tables have a multiplicity of uses from serving as a tea table or a pedestal for a large fern. Bust, or whatever. these tables were used mostly as tea tables and could be easily stored having a tilt top. just shove it against the wall and with three legs, there is only one sticking out about 6 inches to step over. anyway, it is 25 inches in diameter and 27.5 inches tall. it is in great condition, it has one little nick out of the top barely noticeable and may have a couple of other little bruises. i really didn't ... moresee anything, but being 100 years old there is bound to be a few minor blemishes. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. good luck.

Here we have an unique cica 1860s Antique side table from the Netherlands. I am a fairly knowledgeable collector that owns a diverse collection of American and European pieces from the 1710s up to the 1860s. I have never seen or read about any such piece of furniture as this one. The most unique and striking feature is the porcelain mounted ontop of the table. I have some knowledge in antique Chinese and European porcelains: Qing. Sevres and 19th C. painted porcelains. I have never come across one similar to this porcelain. It gives me a Middle Eastern feel, but a porcelain expert told he was not sure either and that"it could be French. The top is profusely and systematically inlaid with Burl Walnut. Ebony, Rose and Mahogany. The ormolu mounts are all present, except the tassels and small gauge chains that were once daggling on the bottom ... moreside edges of the frieze. sides of top) These could be replaced, if desired. The measurements are: Top 15 1/2" square and height of 30" and legs splay out 16 1/2" Condition wise. The standard(shaft) has been touched up by the, due to paint losses. The top has been screwed secure so the top no longer tilts, which is common in older stands. This was due to the broken period hinge. These repairs can easily be reversed. The lock mechanism is period and orginal. The ormulu mounts are original and retain most of its gilding, but tarnished. There is also a missing small mount on one of the knees on the leg. I like to look at the tool marks on the underside of the legs. These are the only visible tool marks. Every other tool mark has been planned away. Which are signs of craftmanship and quality. The straight up-and-down mechanical saw marks on the legs are consistent with saw technology during the third-quarter of the 19th century. POSSIBLY FROM CHANNEL ISLANDS This beautiful tilt-top mahogany breakfast or centre table dates to the mid-19th century and is English. It was possibly made in the Channel Islands. Which are situated in the southern portion of English Channel off the coast of Normandy. The round top has an unusual scalloped or wavy edge with a recessed wavy-edge apron. It stands on a elegantly acanthus carved column ending in a triangular platform base with three large carved paw feet and concealed casters. The table measures 50”dia. x 18-¼”h. Condition: The table has the expected minor wear. Rubbing to the finish, dings and scratch commensurate with its age. There has also been a couple minor repairs to the carving on the base and feet. As can be seen in the photographs, the ... moretop is made of two pieces of mahogany joined together in the middle. Over the years the two pieces have separated approximately 1/8” 0.3 cm) When flat this small gap is hardly noticeable. Ca. 1810. A useful antique. Seats 6 and then the top tilts lengthwise and the table rolls out of the way. The top is made up of two pieces of mahogany. There is a space of less than one tenth of an inch between the two pieces. The top rests on a four leg pedestal with reeded legs with brass toecaps and wheels. Rosewood crossbanding. The top is 56" long by 42" wide by 28" tall. Purchased while on an antique buying trip in the Cotswolds in 2000. The table is available only via local pickup. It is located in Jupiter. FL.

This is an antique flip or tilt top table or candle stand. I don't know if it falls into the paper mache category. But I'll mention that anyway. It is a very well made table. Lots of detail with it's curved and scalloped edges on the table top as opposed to just a round or oval top. Similar to pie crust edges. You can see the wood cut inserts or joiners(biscuit) on the edge between pieces. I called this Duncan Phyfe because of the brass lion or claw feet but am not sure about that. We believe the wood is walnut. There is a dark green stripe around the design on the pedestal and also a matching dark green line around the top of the table. The catch on the birdcage is stamped Francis Keil and Sons Patented. Table measures 24" high x 22" long x 18" wide. Awesome picture on top however it is showing some crackling or ... morecrazing. Early 1800's Mahogany Queen Anne "Pie Crust" Tilt Top Tea Table
This is an early 1800's mahogany"pie crust" queen anne style tilt top tea table that was acquired from an estate and no longer have room for it. It is in great condition and the cabriole legs have remarkable carvings. The two brackets on the back were replaced at some point and there is a small fracture in one of the feet. Both common of this age with tilt function. It is very sturdy and would be a great addition to antique collection or homeowner who wanted a great antique table that can easily tilt for easy storage. Table measures 33 inches in width and 46 inches in height. Antique early 1800's rosewood with inlaid brass tilt top table. The top measures 22" x 17 1/4" 24 1/2" from the ground. 34" tilted from top to bottom. There is a central brass inlaid decoration on the top. On all the feet, and the four sections between the feet. There are sixteen decorative rosettes on the corners of the legs. There is no missing brass inlay. The feet end in brass balls. The tilting mechanism is original to the piece. The rosewood is beautifully grained. Antique early 1800's mahogany supper tilt top table. The diameter of the top is 34" There are nine 8" across plate sections. And the center section is 16" across. When the table is open it measures 28" to the ground. When it is tilted flat it measures 47" to the ground. It is all original with lovely hand carving to the top and legs. Even the background of the carving has a textured carving itself. It has a wonderful old patina. In the pictures when it shows lighter, it is when I used a flash. The darker picture is without a flash. The color is a rich, warm, medium mahogany. It is in fine sturdy, strong condition. A tiny old chip to the edge of one of the circles. We would like make the point known that we have never quite seen a piece like this before. It comes from a North Carolina estate that was brought back East to liquidate. We are not a liberty to disclose anymore than that as to its provenance. Our company brings four highly experienced dealers to the table. We are all torn as to the origin of this piece from Portsmouth. NH, Boston, NYC and Virginia. We are certain of the fact that its an outstanding quality piece in great condition with no damages or repairs. Please note that we took these pictures coming off ... morethe truck. It was 6 degrees that day and the waxes on mahogany pieces cloud up in the cold. We noted a whitish mark on the top of this piece in the pictures that is not truly there and caused by the waxes reaction to the severe cold. We wanted to get the load back into a stable heated environment as fast as possible. The molded edge top on this table is made from a huge robust piece of old growth solid crotched mahogany plank(probably Cuban) with the best figuring. A plank of that quality was worth more than gold to furniture makers in the Colonial Colonies during this period. It's pedestal employs superb ring or spool turnings and acanthus carving. Each of its three spider legs are gracefully formed, molded and employs continued acanthus carving. At this size this piece classifies as a tea table or small breakfast table. We are putting a real number on this piece not based on what it could be as opposed to our substantial investment in it. Antique Italian Hand Painted Tilt Top Table, Lacquered, Italian Scene, Abalone!!
On offer is this truly beautiful antique tilt top table. It's in really good condition overall. All original and tilts correctly still. There are scuffs on the edges to the legs where the lacquer has rubbed/ chipped off and there is rubbing to the top decoration but this has detracted anything from the overall look. There is line crazing here and there across the top but this just adds character and charm to the table. There is evidence of old wood worm to the base section- this occurred many decades ago but as a precaution it has been fully treated. It is a tilt top table with the top being able to tilt when not in use- even like this it makes a lovely decorative feature as shown in the photos. The base section has three legs. These and the central column have been lacquered in black and hand painted with a lovely flowing design in a ... moregold yellow colour. The table top itself has a rounded shape and has been decorated beautifully with a hand painted scene depicting an old building and steps leading up to it. At the top of these is a mysterious figure. Whom this is I do not know. It is surrounded by trees and an intense looking sky. Certain areas have been inlayed with very thin pieces of abalone shell to enhance the appearance of it. Around this scene is a rounded border of abalone and around the edge is a lovely hand painted border design. The tilting part is original and works fine still. It is an old item. Victorian in date and made in Italy- probably South Italy. The table top measures 60cm in diameter(2 ft) and when in use(flat) the table has a height of 71cm(28 inches) A truly gorgeous example of a tilt top table which is ready to be used and enjoyed once again! The rectangular top is made of flamed mahogany with a rosewood crossbanded edge and beaded frieze. Chippendale Style Cherry Tilt-Top Tea Table
Up for sale is this beautiful Chippendale tilt-top-tea table from the early to mid-19 th century. I believe it is either Cherry or Maple. It has the original brass hardware and the split on the top is original from the time it was made or shortly thereafter. There is a watermark on the top that has been there for some years. This table measures 30 ½ inches in diameter across the table top and 27 ½ inches in height. I am listing this as a local pick-up only as the shipping and freight expenses would be quite costly.
