Antique Italian Creche Wood and Paper Mache Gentleman figure
This Creche figure is 13 ½ inch tall man. Possibly a wise man, most likely circa the late 18th or early 19th century, has a wooden head, hands with plaster or paper mache, and lower legs with carved boots with one boot missing. The body is cloth with original metal trim. There is some wear on the clothing and a few worn spots on face and hands but in pretty good condition for it's age. Very neat piece with a heap of character. There also is a wire that is connected to the head, possibly for display purposes. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions. Offered for your consideration is a beautiful antique wooden wallpaper pattern stencil roller. This is a beautiful example of late 19 th& early 20 th century industrialism. Highly skilled craftsmen cut out and etched ink pads in brass filigree and hammered them into mahogany or rock maple rollers. Often there were four rollers used in tandem to complete a pattern. Antique Victorian Bird Cage of Intricately Detailed House Made of Metal Wood What a really nice decorative piece. Look at how the wood was put together on both the roof and bottom of the base. This item was never meant to be a cage of birds. Would have always been a decorative item. A nice porcelain parrot comes with it as well. Just check out all the windows and door in this one. The small bars are metal. I would say the wood is something similar to rosewood. But you be the judge. There are certainly some issues to report on condition. The widow's walk or turret at the top of the house is loose from it. Some tiles in the roof are missing, one of the four yellow fobs that hangs from the corners of the roof is loose and in the cage, and another is missing. Some of the wood pieces and bars are loose and in cage. Not sure if all the pieces ... morethat are off the house are there or not. One of the sides(non-bay window) where the windows stick out, is a little loose from the rest of the cage and will need some attention. Also, someone decided to make it into a light at some time. However, that did not affect the integrity of the piece, the bulb, cable and chain could be easily removed. This piece was originally made to sit on a table based upon the four rounded small feet on it. I can see the vestiges of some blue. Brown, and green paints on the roof of the cage. The cage has a fence around the entire house that is attached to the bottom tray that is all there. There are then four metal fobs that are intact at the four corners of these walls. The bottom tray of the cage can be removed by opening the four brass latches that attach it to the rest of the house. The inside wood in the base of the cage shows some splitting from age. The antique bird cage is 24" tall, by 20.5" across by 17" wide. This piece will take extra time and care to pack for safe shipping. Antique hand painted floral wood folding screen with three hinged panels. Has a brass plate on bottom marked"No. 2860 F.B.M. Co. Hoboken, N.J" This stands for Ferguson Bros Manufacturing company, which was begun in the late 19th century and merged with another company and changed names in 1953. They billed themselves as manufacturers of"furniture novelties" and listed some of their products as"folding screens, folding tables, cedar chests. etc. I believe this folding screen dates to the turn of the century and may have been used as a summer screen in front of a fireplace to make it decorative when not in use. The center panel has two legs- the side panels do not have legs. The brass hinges, which I believe may be the originals, allow the side panels to fold either behind the main screeen, or fold in front of the main ... morepanel. I believe the screws are replacements of the original ones. I have given one photo showing the combination of screws which replace the original hardware(see photo 11) Measurements: to the highest point it is 32" high.the middle panel is 18" wide. And the two flanking panels are each 9" wide. The total width with side panels open is 36 3/4" Condition(on a scale of poor. Fair, good, very good, excellent: Very Good. I am taking marks off because a few bits of paint have flaked off and because the paint has crazing. When problems happen! 1) One thing that comes up occasionally is that a purchase is received and it isn't the size you imagined it would be. Before purchasing check the measurements in the listing. Very lovely fan dating from the 1860's. Guards and sticks made of carved and fretted wood. Which is gilded. Both guards look like they have lost most of their gilding. Which is partly true. It has also darkened. Probably by the touch of skin. The silk leaf is in an excellent condition. Both front and back. The front is covered with goldtone flowershaped sequins. note that the front guard is glued to the next stick in order to'repair it. photo 6) Photo 1. 3 and 4 show the genuine goldtone. This beautiful old tea kettle has all the signature details of the late 1880s/ early 1900s Rochester Stamping Company kettles: From the hinged brass lid and its design to the rope-like pattern right under the copper rim area. The only problem: The bottom DOES NOT HAVE a Rochester mark(see picture) What we do know: It looks very old. The inside shows that it has been used. 6" tall. 9" wide from spout to handle. Hi. For sale two antique Miniature Victorian Era Stone Lithograph Prints with a wood frame& gold gilt. They are 6 x 6 and have a burgundy red velvet matte. They are in wood frames that have carving around the inside edge of the frames. The glass surrounding the Lithograph is oval shape The parchment paper is still intake on the back but one does have a tear. Large size of alabaster green grape cluster with a wood type stem, I don't know if this is real wood, and green leafs which I am not sure what they are made out of? They will break and 2 of the leafs shown in the pictures broke and there is only half. There also is one grape missing. All the other grapes and is in good condition. They measure 10 1/2" long measured from the longest leaf to the end of the longest grape. Each grape measures 2" long, 4" height measured from the tallest grape to the bottom of the cluster.
