Measures about 1in. tall and is 1in. wide, real small. I purchased this pill box at an auction that was selling out a drug store that had operated in the 1920's. This old pill box is empty now but it did have Beecham's Patent Pills inside. Price 25 cents and sold by the proprietor St. Helens, Lancashire England. and Niagara, New York. Box has brightly colored paper covering the sides and top. The top paper label has a small amount of damage, still very readible. The rest of the box is in great condition. Antique Wooden Decorative Bowl Handpainted and Inlaid with Abalone - RARE!
A Rare Find From Yesteryear! We are giving up an absolutely beautiful. Very old decorative bowl. We purchased this from an antique store in Rochester. Michigan about 12 years ago and have enjoyed displaying it. Now it's time to let someone else marvel at its beauty. Along the outer rim. It has a very delicate, hand painted gold scrolling on a scalloped edge, along with bits of inlaid abalone. The next row has painted blue and white flowers with green vines and leaves. The third row has cream-colored painted curlicues intertwined with many inlaid abalone chips. And the bottom center has a lovely bouquet of flowers that have been beautifully hand painted, mixed with inlaid abalone petals. The paint is crazed throughout due to its age. The handle is some kind of cast metal material. Perhaps pig iron. It is in a ivy leaf pattern and looks ... morelike it was painted or stained. As for the condition. It's in great shape for its age, which we believe to be approximately 120-150 yrs. Unfortunately. We do not know who the artist is. We are also not sure of the material. It is some kind of wood composite. There are 2 chips on the underside which show up clearly in the photos. And one ding on the top rim from the handle falling down upon it, but is not noticeable. On the back they have taken off the old hanging and put on a modern hanger on the top. If you need an old wire hanger I have some here which I can put in the parcel with it just let me know. Selling here this tiny antique French candlestick made out of brass with round wooden base and wooden handle. It measures only 3.1 inches in height. Is 4.6 inches long and diameter of the base is 2.2 inches. The candleholder has a diameter of 0.6 inches. SUPER COOL PIECE. This is for an awesome barbola flower applique piece on wood. This is super old and its not perfect. Gesso missing to edges, cracks to the flowers/vase moulding. Its just so cool though. I am imagining this just about anywhere in a shabby chic home or over a doorway. Its really a cool piece but its definitely not perfect. I love the purple flowers and how detailed they are along with the pink roses, they make you forget about all the imperfections. See photos for condition please because this is super old. There is a hanger on back for placing on wall. Measures: 24x17. Antique Religious Carved & Painted Wooden Triptych (Etheopian?)
I found this on the property of Avalon in Churt. Surrey, where I grew up which was built by Lloyd George(Prime Minister of Britain) I have always cared for it and believe he received it on his travels. Having researched online, I think that this folk art triptych is from Ethiopia rather than Greece. I do not know exactly how old it is, but the quality of the painting is far superior to souvenir folk art paintings or reproductions. It is a devotional piece, carved on all sides. Its' overall condition is excellent since the wood and painted surfaces have been so well and carefully protected. The strings/hinges are also perfect. There is minimal evidence of wear and handling. Up for auction is this unusual vintage spinning cone shaped wooden balancer with metal ball bearings. This was what they called it when I bought it at a small airport sale. You can pull it apart a little bit to see the ball bearings(pictured) It is in EXCELLENT CONDITION. There is a tiny amount of rust on the ball bearings and metal from age and normal use. It is a little harder to turn probably than when it was new. This balancer measures 6 1/2 inches in height. Nice hard to find piece.
