What we have here is an antique. Celluloid, stand-up picture frame in excellent condition. It is about 5-1/2" x 7-1/2" overall with a 3-3/4" x 5" image area. The photo of the chap with the pinch nez glasses was taken in Grand Rapids, Michigan by a gent named Marshall ca. 1895 or there abouts. Very nice display piece, or use your own photo. Antique Convex Glass Oval Frame with U.S. Navy Sailor Photo
Up for bidding is this Antique Convex Glass Oval Frame with U.S. Navy Sailor Photo. Photo is a hand tinted original image of a sailor using what is possibly a WWl navy uniform. Dating the picture is difficult since the Navy had different variations of uniforms issued throughout the years from the early 1900's to the early 1940's. The words"U.S. Navy" printed on the hat band could indicate early 40's yet the wide lid top could be an earlier issue date. Photo is missing a small piece on the top and has a crack across the bottom. Other small rips are visible from the front and there are old masking tape repairs on the back side of the print. None of these flaws really affect the wonderful look of this sailor's cross armed pose. Frame is made of wood with the original heavy coat of white paint. The frame's condition ... moreis pretty good yet shows its age with some joint cracking and crackling of the paint coat. Oval glass has a wonderful convex shape to it and is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Please see the photos for further detail and condition views. We've made no attempt to repair anything on this picture. Only the top of the glass and frame has gotten a superficial cleaning to remove surface dust and grime. This is a very interesting Antique photo frame with English sterling silver front design on a dark blue velvet backing. This piece is hallmarked with the passant lion for 925/1000 sterling silver. The anchor mark for Birmingham England, and the date letter mark of a lower case( i) for the year 1908. The condition is as follows. The silver has some dings and dents especially around the central ring, the top cartouch is pushed in, the velvet on the front has some white polish dust. This piece would have originally had a filler backing to strengthen the sterling and this is a bit broke up now inside.Measures about 6 x 5 3/4 inches, the circular is 3 inches in diameter and there is no glass. This is a wonderful old Victorian 19th Century twisted wire miniature picture frame from wonderful old estate. The metal frame is 4 3/4" by 3 1/4" and has a glass reverse print inside that is oval and 2 7/8" by 2 3/8" The picture is a litho print attached to the back of the glass to make it more like a painting. It also has Mother of Pearl inlay in the photo. It is a European scene perhaps Germany of a hill side scene with a boat perhaps in foreground. The frame has enameled green grape leaves and there is some enamel loss. See photos. The frame also has glass beads meant to be grapes and many are missing. This is a very haunting picture of a plain victorian woman. I think its a hand tinted photograph of some kind but i'm really not sure. The pose is formal and her expression is truly somber. The brooch at her throat is very nice. The carved wooden frame is possibly Eastlake? It is very ornate it has a carved floral motif that has bits of color in the flowers and leaves. There are also areas of heavy gilt. There is some damage to the frame, it has some cracks in the wood but is all together. The backing is intact. 21&3/4"L x 12&1/2"W.

Original wire stand on the back. The backing is card board cover with fabric look had been replaced. Four metal claps holds the backing on each frame The condition is great with no chips on stones. No break on metal. Some of the white enamel had off from age. Light wear on the gold. This dated early 1920. The frame is un-marked, but look like Austria. WOW! What a beautiful old picture frame! I think is from Portugal. I say this because I have a huge mirror with the same decorative style border and made from the same gold colored brass(or bronze) material. It has a sticker on it that says where it is from. I have looked this frame over and over and find no mark or such sticker. I figured they had a sticker on it(like my mirror does) and the sticker is just gone. Anyway. It is for an 8X10 photo but the actual measurements of the frame are 13X11. This is such a pretty frame, and in really great vintage condition! No damage I can see. Lovely Roses adorn the border all the way around. Each rose has a heart around it. How sweet! There are two rubber tips on the feet to prevent furniture scratches, but these can be removed if desired. This is a handmade frame and that is obvious with close observation. ... moreIntense detailing, even on the reverse side of the frame design. Velvet backed slide out piece. The only flaw is with the old glass. One corner is broken and it is pictured in the last photo. Now when the glass is in the frame- it covers the break and you do not see it. If you look at the photos it looks like there are several cracks in the glass, but there is not! What you see are lines on the cardboard backround, NOT cracks in the glass. Except for the broken edge corner, the glass is in really good condition for the age. Very clear with few scratches. I have other frames and things for auction now so please check out my other items. ANTIQUE VERY DETAILED HEAVILY EMBOSSED MERIDEN SILVER-PLATE PICTURE PHOTO FRAME
Description: Superb antique Victorian quadruple silver-plated picture frame by Meriden of Meriden Connecticut. The entire body of the frame has an aesthetic high-relief repoussee motif of flowers and leaves. The patina is exquisite. The silver plate is in excellent condition with no visible wear. There is also an old photograph in the frame. The photograph is very old although judging by the womans clothing probably not as old as the frame. I do not know who the woman is. The glass in the frame is the original bevel-edged glass. This frame measures 6-1/4 inches high X 5-1/2 inches wide. The viewable area measures 3-3/4 inches X 2-3/4 inches. On the back of the frame there was originally a hinged stand that is no longer there, and there is a replacement stand which is very old. The solder point that holds this replacement stand has lifted, ... moreand while it is holding at the moment, we can not vouch for how much longer it will last, and the stand is in As Is condition, you will need to replace it. Since the metal plate in back of the photograph lifts out as a separate piece, it is a simple thing to have a new stand made. The only other thing we would like to point out on the condition is that the upper right corner of the box on the back of the frame that holds the picture, has an open corner seam. You can have this closed back up but you do not need to at all, since the function of the box is not affected at all and you will never see this on a table since it is on the back of the frame. The heavy wire spring that holds the picture in the box is original to the frame and is in excellent condition. On the metal plate in back of the picture is the circular mark that says MERIDAN SILVER PLATE CO. QUADRUPLE PLATED with the lion logo inside the circle of words. Above that is impressed PATENTED JAN 14 1890. Below that is the number 5, probably the model number. This is an absolutely fantastic frame. This Photo Frame is a very nice 8 x10 satin finish photo frame and shows very little ware. The backing is in black felt and has an easel to stand it up and 2 brass ball feet. Vintage WW1 World War One Cast Iron Picture Photo Frame 1917
Estate sale found early vintage circa"1917" cast iron or steel World War One military picture/photo frame in excellent condition. This was found with no photo present. The paint is very well preserved with a great patina and the rear prop leg is in excellent working order and the three swivel photo retaining pins are all present and also in great condition. Back is marked with a number as seen in image# 9. This has not been cleaned and still has many years of dust in the crevices. Measures approx. 9+1/4" high x 6+5/8" wide at the feet. Will accept a photo of approx. 6" x 4+1/4" with a 1/2" of inner frame lip variance for smaller sized images. Antique Victorian Picture Photo Frame Griffin Heraldic Lion Wood Wooden 4.75x8
This is a beautiful antique wooden frame that likely dates from the Victorian Era. On the front is carved what appears to be a griffin or heraldic lion; it is quite ornate and aesthetically pleasing. It will hold photos that are up to 8 1/8" tall and 4.75" wide. The photo is inserted into a slit on the top. It is 6 3/8" from the bottom of the photo"drop" to the top of the viewer frame. Which means if the photo is 6 3/8" high it will reach the top of the viewer frame. It can be up to 8 1/8" high and still be held behind the wood. The frame opening is about 3 5/8" x 5 3/8" The entire frame is 8"x10" Some of the hardware on the back looks to have been added later. The frame has some wear from handling and use. It is structurally sound, but on one side the pieces of wood are separating(see ... morephoto) Again, though, it is structurally sound. This would make an ideal decor item.
