Antique Wood FIRE SCREEN Hand Painted FLORAL 3-Panel FBM Co Ferguson Bros
Antique hand painted floral wood folding screen with three hinged panels. Has a brass plate on bottom marked"No. 2860 F.B.M. Co. Hoboken, N.J" This stands for Ferguson Bros Manufacturing company, which was begun in the late 19th century and merged with another company and changed names in 1953. They billed themselves as manufacturers of"furniture novelties" and listed some of their products as"folding screens, folding tables, cedar chests. etc. I believe this folding screen dates to the turn of the century and may have been used as a summer screen in front of a fireplace to make it decorative when not in use. The center panel has two legs- the side panels do not have legs. The brass hinges, which I believe may be the originals, allow the side panels to fold either behind the main screeen, or fold in front of the main ... morepanel. I believe the screws are replacements of the original ones. I have given one photo showing the combination of screws which replace the original hardware(see photo 11) Measurements: to the highest point it is 32" high.the middle panel is 18" wide. And the two flanking panels are each 9" wide. The total width with side panels open is 36 3/4" Condition(on a scale of poor. Fair, good, very good, excellent: Very Good. I am taking marks off because a few bits of paint have flaked off and because the paint has crazing. When problems happen! 1) One thing that comes up occasionally is that a purchase is received and it isn't the size you imagined it would be. Before purchasing check the measurements in the listing. Antique 19th Century English Horn Beakers (3) sizes, Hunt & Farm Scenes RARE!
I have recently acquired this trio of antique English horn beakers from the 19th century. I will describe each beaker as best I can. The first measures about 6.25" high and is about 4" in diameter at the top. The scene on this one appears to be a farm scene. With farmers and implements on it. The second one measures about 5" high x 3" in diameter and is a hunt scene. Thes first two need to be cleaned as they have darkened from age. The third one is 4.5" high and is 2.75" in diameter. It appears that someone tried to clean this one. This also has farm scenes on it. All of the tops are not totally round but again that may be from the age or in the making. Buyer is buying these beakers"as is. Very rare old items. But will accept reasonable offers. Do not hesitate to make an offer. In my previous listing. Offered is this gorgeous old hand made roses print! Features a fancy gold frame with gesso edging. A dark sage/light forest green matting and a gorgeous spread of roses in various shades of pinks, greens, yellows and browns with a pale blue gray background. Measures 24.5" long and 13.5" tall. The floral portion measures 17" long and 6" tall. The signature says. M.E. Brady. Looks to be a water color piece. The painting is dated 1899 and is in lovely condition. The frame is very old but might not be original. There are some pieces of gesso that have broken off but nothing that distracts from the beauty of this piece. Sweet Small Hand Fan for a Child? Up for your consideration this is beautiful antique hand fan. Small in size. It measures 6 3/8" tall, looks to be a child's fan or a fan for a chatelaine. The guards and sticks are probably bone carved lightly with a curved design which is painted gold, the guards have a pierced area as well, fan is one sided with the ribs exposed on the back side, one rib is broken off and missing just above where it meets the stick, otherwise in good condition. The leaf is what appears to be a mesh but I am leaning toward an unusual fabric imprinted with different colors and a little texture, there are pink, gold and silver sequin some in star form, has the cutest little brass loop at the head which made me think of chatelaine but not certain. Set of 3 OLD framed medallion portraits of classic Greek or Roman figures. The shadowbox glassed frame has some loss of the gilt in places and have some nicks. But are very presentable as they are. These have been carefully mounted on what looks like velvet. I have no idea how old, but the way the frames are constructed suggest turn of last century- and I don't know when the cameos were made. The largest one is about 1.75 inches long and the smallest a little over 3/4" Frame measures 6.5 wide and are about 1.75" deep. Please check the photos for more detail than I can list here. Presents even better in person than pictured.The unusual orange has two flat sides and rest horizontal rather than upright. It is of outstanding beauty. The paint has minor wear and there are some natural internal flaws but no chips or cracks. The next two pieces do have minor chips and moderate paint wear. They all need wood stems replaced.
