CLASSIFICATION: Earthenware Jar/Vase. ATTRIBUTION: In the Style of Ancient China. Zhou Dynasty. Spring and Autumn Period(770 to 476 B.C. Possibly an 18th or 19th Century Revival Imitative. SIZE/MEASUREMENTS: Diameter: 140 millimeters(5 5/8 inches) at bowl; 94 millimeters(3 3/4 inches) at top lip. Height: 98 millimeters(3 7/8 inches) CONDITION: Very good. Complete and unrepaired. Little blemishes consistent with wear and then burial since ancient times. A few small rim chips, a couple of tiny hairline cracks. The typical blemishes of hand production(warts and dimples, zits and pits) DETAIL: A complete. Unrepaired medium sized impressed earthenware jar seemingly attributable to the middle of the first millennium B.C. The term“impressed” means that a design was impressed into the still wet vessel before it was fired. More often than not this involved rolling the vase over a fibre mat, or pressing a piece of mat into the vessel, impressing a design into the still-wet clay. It is a good-sized piece, the size of a small melon. What’s really remarkable is that despite its age, it is entirely complete. There is of course a collection of small rim chips, virtually obligatory with a ceramic vessel this old. And from those chips two very slight hairline cracks have evolved, as can be seen in the images here. However considering the age of the vessel, these are rather minor(and entirely customary and acceptable) blemishes. As well there is an assortment of tiny scuffs and abrasions which one would expect with an earthenware household utensil which was used and then buried. Considering that the typical such specimen is recovered shattered into shards, this specimen is truly in remarkable condition. Although it is probable that this specimen is much older. It is also possible that this piece might be a revivalist imitative

Search Antique Polish Sword Karabela in Silver Hunting Sabre18th century Poland Antique 18th century circa 1750 Polish Nobleman Hunting Sword with a hilt of characteristic Karabela form fluted and enclosed by engraved silver straps. Fitted with a shaped silver collar at the base, a short silver cross-guard with down turned quillons engraved with a trellis pattern. A broad slightly curved single- edged blade, double-edged toward the point with a full-length fuller, the forte engraved and gilt on a blued panel with an oval medallion with a crescent moon and crowned by a turban adorned by feathers enclosed by foliage. The other side engraved with military trophies, flags, muskets with bayonets, military horns, scrolling floral motifs. The sword comes with its original black lacquered leather scabbard with silver mounts. Wedgwood 18th Century OOAK ERROR Basalt Portrait Medallion Of Roman Emperor Nero
Antique 18th Century. Approximately c.1768-1780, most likely O ne Of A Kind, black basalt portrait medallion or cameo bust of Nero that contains an error or wrong Emperor's name inscribed on back. The inscribed name. Vitellius, was a mistake made by Josiah Wedgwood or one of his workers who assisted with inscribing the medallions upon completion. Nero was the last emperor of the Julio-Claudian dynasty and reigned for 13 years and 8 months before committing suicide. Vitellius reigned for only 8 months a year after Nero's suicide. An uncommon find in any condition and correct, but this is highly probable to be one of a kind and a true collector's dream to own. I had the medallions photos looked at by an expert Wedgwood appraiser that verified authenticity as 100% but could not even hint to the value. Appraiser does feel that it ... moreis one the value could be extremely high and only comparable to other"mistake" medallions sold. I have been unable to locate any recent error medallions sold so I am starting listing with a fair ask price for such a true RARE find. This medallion is in excellent condition and comes in a gold gilt frame. It has Wedgwood and Vitellius inscribed on back with a number and NERO written in pencil where someone identified the true error and tried to correct it. Beautiful pair of 18th Century Period(or before) Silhouettes. I do not know the age of these silhouettes. Each one has a mark. A circle with a C in it, and a circle with the initials S. Z. over L. It is very small and a magnifier is needed. The one on the female is mostly covered by the velvet cover over the silhouette. Only the circled C shows. I purchased them from an antique shop in 1989. They were in very small frames as I recall, and I had them reframed. May or may not have been a good idea! The frames they are in, were handmade at a frame shop and they are very beautiful, with the black velvet. They are in wonderful condition for such old silhouettes, and the frames are also in great condition. I can find nothing wrong with them. This very old paper and wood hand fan was painted in water color and stenciled along the edges in gold paint. There is also designs painted on the wood itself. On the back has a gold design but can not tell if printed or painted, There are 3 major breaks and some tears in different areas of fan. I do not know if this is English or French, and I am guessing this fan was made sometime in the 1700's or early 1800's due to the subject and style of the painting and designs etc. etc. The fan measures: 9 1/2" long and has 14 sticks that fan out. with some tlc this could be easily repaired.
