I'm no expert but this looks like plaster over wood. There are several places that have missing plaster(please examine pictures) But the frame is in decent shape for its age. One of the screw eyes for the wire has come through the front. The frame is 26 1/ 2"x 2 2 3/8" It will hold a picture that is 16 3/ 16" x 20 3/16" If you have an old picture you want to display. This will make it look correct for the period. I have no idea exactly how old it is as it has no markings. Please do your own research or know your frames. As there are no returns on this item. The frame is pretty fragile, however the plaster could be easily replaced or fixed. The matting on the portrait has some water damage, but the portrait is in good condition with no water damage. A beautiful old(100 years +? wood frame with plaster ornation available in this sale. The frame does have some obvious damage in one corner. And some other minor damage in a few other spots, but you can see the potential of this piece with some restoration. The detail pictures start in the lower left hand corner and work up and around the frame to show potential flaws. The frame measures 24.5 inches x 20.5 inches. The center oval opening measures 19.25" x 15.5 inches. The corners measure 7 inches from outer edge to edge of opening, 3" from outer edges of center parts of frame to edge of opening. 21" by 15" Vintage Wood Plaster Picture Frame Convex Curved Bubble Glass
Up for auction is a vintage picture and frame with convex curved dome glass(often referred to as bubble glass) The frame is constructed in wood and plaster(wood frame with plaster ornamentation) The top border motif is of roses and leaves. The metallic gold painted plaster frame has a number of hairline cracks typical of vintage plaster frame construction but the cracks do not detract from the frame nor is the frame weaken by them; the frame is solid. Remember this a century old item that actually hung on walls and was likely touched up from time to time. The bubble glass has no cracks. On the inside of the glass it appears there are two spots that should clean off if the piece were disassembled. The most inner portion of the frame features a gold painted design. Which further accentuates the frame as"it" will any picture displayed in it! Overall. The frame is in very good condition with exception to 2 tiny areas. In the one corner a piece of the marbleized plaster is missing. Truly its very tiny area, that measures approx. a 1/4 inch long, its not very noticeable. You are bidding on a set of 3 antique oval picture frames with hand-quilted bird fabric inserts. I believe the picture portion in the back is actually rectangular. But shows as oval in the front. The center of the 3 frames is larger 12 x 14 inches and the 2 outer frames measure 10 x 12 inches. These were purchased from an antique dealer and painted gold about 30 years ago and the birds inserted. You could choose to use them for the photos of your choice. Mirrors, or the same birds. I believe one is a Chickadee, a Cardinal, and an American Goldfinch. These have a bit of light fading after 30 years, but are still in excellent antique condition. I read that these carved wood frames also have plaster/gesso, which this looks to by the photos. The interior dimension(the'shelf' that holds the painting) is 19" x 13.5" so you would lose about.5 inch from that in the viewable area. The external dimension is 30.5" x 25" The carvings project/protrude approx 3.5" depth) It would be ideal if you could pick it up. Vintage Plaster On Wood Shadow Box Picture Frame - Late 1800s
Wood Picture Frame- Plaster On Wood- Etched Beautiful old ornate picture frame. 27" wide. 17" high and 4" deep. Inside picture area dimensions are 7.5" wide and 9.5" high. DEPTH of the frame is 4.5" There are four bands of design around the frame on four different levels. At the highest level of the frame is a lush wood and black design 2" wide. The second level is a designed band 1.5" wide. The third section is striped Gold Gild 1" The fourth section(gilded gold) 1/2" wide. On close inspection there a few nicks on the exterior section which can be easily repaired. Frame is original and in very good condition.

Vintage Photo Portrait Colored with Convex Bubble Glass I am selling some Estate Items for a friend. The owner of these articles was a collector of memorabilia. He lived at one time near Citrus Hills Florida where Ted Williams resided in his retirement. He had struck up a friendship with Ted and some of the items in his collection reflect that. He collected for the joy of owning the collectible items. He amassed and left behind a very large and eclectic group of things ranging from Sports to the Entertainment Industry. Some of the articles may have had stories associated with them. But they are now lost to time. Original Portrait Photo of Grandma that was colored in as was the custom of the time. The widow of the collector that I am selling these items for is now approaching 80. This is an actual picture of her Grandmother so that it must ... morebe very old. There is no date or Company name on the picture or frame. The frame consists of a wooden base with plaster formed on it. Most of the frame is gray. But the flowers seem to have been painted Pink. As can be seen in the photos. Some parts of the frame have been damaged over the years. A brown tassled hanger is included. It was used to hang the potrait. But the cord deteriorated over the years. It measures approximately 18 inches tall by 12 inches wide. The glass was formed in a convex bubble shape. It seems to be in good condition. The backing is cardboard held in by 3 nails. The fourth has broken off. The portrait itself seems to be in good shape with no deterioration. The pictures are of the actual item that is being auctioned.
