HUGE Vintage HAND-CARVED Florentine Gilt ITALIAN Picture Frame 30 x 40 c.1940s
Here is a HUGE vintage. Almost antique hand-carved Italian picture frame. It appears to be balsawood, or some other lightweight wood, measures 36 1/4 x 46 1/4 ins. in total, and the inner rabbet size is 30 1/4 x 40 1/4 ins. The molding is about 4 ins. wide. The frame is carved in the traditional Italian Florentine style, and this type of frame is used in art museums around the world. The frame is in fair as is condition with scuffs to the finish, wear from handling through the decades, some minor wood chip/breaks at some corners, miter separations on the corner ares. All of this is typical with old frames, and it is amusing that new repro frames like to add that' distressed' look to their'antique( not) frames. The frame is more beautiful than my photographs. The gilded color is very rich, the carving deep and detailed. On the ... moreback is stamped in a few spots, Made in Italy man made. Vintage gold tone frame with a dainty floral accent at top and ornate design around edges/sides. The 1920's-30's sepia tone. Colorized photograph of a woman in her lace and silk dress with long length pearls. Estate find in FL. Glass intact. Can sit on table or has circular hook on back for hanging. There is what looks to be paint down one edge of frame. I scratched across with my nail and some did come off. Age spots to burgundy back. One area on the edge of photo is worn/discolored, which you can only see when photo is removed from frame. The total length is approx. 10" and width is little over 8" The picture opening is approx. 9.50" in length x 7.50" in width. Pretty frame with a wonderful old photograph. Good overall condition. Vintage HUGE MODERNISM Mid-Century Gold Heavy Pine Wood Frame 26 x 30 c.1940s
Here is a very large. Heavy custom/hand-made pine picture frame. It measures 33 x 36 ins. in total and 26 x 30 ins. insert rabbet size. This is painted gold( not gilded) with an old original red paint or bole undercoat. This frame used to house a late 1940s oil portrait. So I would date this to the same time period to very early 1950s time period. The frame has multiple pieces of wood nailed and glued together. And at the top right corner someone nailed some more in to secure it at some point in time.That has caused a surface crack in the wood from the top right corner and the downward piece of wood about 4 x 7 ins. That can be re-glued and fixed if it bothers you. Shown below. It is very sturdy. Heavy and solid. The molding is 4 1/2 ins. wide. Very heavy, vintage hand-carved picture frame.I have been informed by a knowledeable frame collector that this is a vintage reproduction of a 17th C Louis XIII Style Lely Portrait Frame. It used to house a 1920s oil portrait. So I would date it to the 1920-30s time period. The frame is carved out a heavy wood, measures 37 1/8 x 47 1/2 x 5 ins. The inner rabbet insert size is 30 5/8 x 40 5/8 ins. A 30 x 40 inch painting would work in here. The frame is in fair/good as is vintage condition with wear to the finish. Scrapes, minor chips, all common with age. It is still very solid and is very heavy. The artwork that was in here originally was marked Made in Belgium. So very possibly the frame was also made there.It could be English also. There is no marking on it, any old tag has long gone away. However their are some minor imperfections- mostly wear around the edge of frame. It seems to be missing about 10 of the mirror clips, but their might be enough to secure a mirror as is. Vintage LARGE Deco MODERNIST Gold Wood Picture Frame 25 x 30 c1940s As Found
Here is a large vintage carved wood picture frame. Made with a notched accent on the surround molding, and painted gold. The frame used to house a 1940s oil portrait,so I would date it to that time period. The frame is in FAIR as is vintage condition with surface wear/scrapes, chips off some wood, and some bozo hammered two nails into two inner edge sides to stabilize it. Please never try to repair a frame by nailing nails into the corners. It also looked like they tried to re-glue one corner. A professional framer or woodworker could take the frame apart and reglue it. And remove old nail holes and fix. The top left inner liner molding has a crack in the wood there and could be replaced by your framer or left as is. The frame measures 32 3/8 x 37 1/4 ins. in total size, and insert rabbet size is 25 1/8 x 30 3/8 ins. the molding is 4 ins. ... morewide. It has developed a nice original patina over the decades, so still nice for original 1940-50s artwork or to make a mirror out of it. Please look at all pictures. Perfect for Modern. Beautiful Art Deco type picture frames featuring great grandmother and great grandson family photo. 1920s/ 1930s era. The other frame has no picture but comes with the original glass. It has a wood base and then a composition materiel in the embossed or outer part of the frame. The molding is 3 3/4 inches wide, and 2 inches deep. This is a well made stable frame, tight joints very good quality item. It has a handsome hollywood regency vibe, bold and beautiful! inner rabbet 23 X 30 inches. It has patina and knicks and knacks of time, but it is really in nice used condition, there is a large spot of missing gold on the bottom arm 2 x 1/2 inch in size you do not see it unless you look underneath. Ok overall this measures 36 X 29. 8 pounds
