This is a great looking antique Art Nouveau or Victorian figural iron standing frame with two ladies and two griffins. Along with other beautiful decorations. It probably dates turn-of-the-century. Approximately 1890s to 1910s. It measures 12 3/4 inches tall by 9 1/4 inches wide overall(32.4 cm x 23.5 cm) The back opening size is 6 inches x 4 1/4 inches(15.3 cm x 10.8 cm) I'm not sure where it was made and what the different decorations symbolize. But I'm sure there's a story behind them. It has a beautiful bronze color finish. Though it's made of iron. It has a swirling Art Nouveau feel about it. For your consideration is this Antique Victorian Art Nouveau Cast Iron Ornate Gilt Wall/Mirror Picture Frame Description: This is an antique. Victorian era picture frame. This cast iron frame has an ornate, floral design surrounding the bevel glass insert. The cast iron portion of the frame has a brass or gilt colored paint on it. The metal back of the frame is held in by four screws and there is a loop for the frame to hang on a wall. The back of the frame is marked, 669, Patd, and"June 19, 94. The frame measures approximately 15" tall, 10" wide, 2 1/4" deep. It fits a picture or mirror approximately 71/2" by 10 1/2" That is what the glass measures approximately as well. This frame does not come with a mirror but could be used for one if you would like. Condition: There is some loss or wear of the paint in areas ... moreon the frame(especially on the back) from its age and use. The glass has minor surface scratching. But no major defects such as cracks or chips. We have not taken the glass out or opened the back. Please refer to the photos for further detail on the condition of this item. Quality 16x20 Gothic Art Nouveau Style frame. Nearly completely intact with only a ding or two to the ornamentation but 95% intact. Very unique repeating wood slat pattern as can be seen in the close ups. About 18x22 if you measure accross entire frame but window is for 16x20. Unique and quality piece. Wood is well stained completely dark and there is a gold square in the center next to the window. Gilded only in the center square. outside of frame in ornamented with dark tone wood design in a gotchic style Please check images. Original piece. Not a repro.
