Cupid Awake” and“Cupid Asleep” were photographs taken in the 1870’s by M. B. Morris Burke) Parkinson of little girl Josephine Anderson. The story is that she was raised by a single mother and he often took care of her while her mother worked. Reports state that Josephine died in the 1970’s(as an adult) Parkinson copyrighted his prints of these photos in 1879. These are marked with that copyright and signed M.B. Parkinson. Very popular in Victorian times. These antiques are a timeless treasure. They were published by Taber Prang Art Co. Of Springfield, Mass. About 1908. The scenes depict people arriving or departing in a carriage in a town or village. The tin once contained toffees from Riley’s of England. The vintage wear and patina includes some small areas of wear. Some scratches and scuffs, handling marks and soiling, some small dents and dings, etc. A lighter square in the very center of the lid. And a larger cluster of wear near the lid edge. A larger worn area on base. Metal rims have darkened. Some patina and scuffing inside, with some darkening around crevice- possibly some early rust starting here. Some dark patina on bottom and reddish stamp mark. Enamelled Oval Convex Frame Over Tin From the Flapper Era Picture
This is a picture of a flapper circa 1927 graduate from Syracuse. Indiana. The year the high school was finished and the year the boys basketball team went to the state finals. She was a very beautiful women and looks very flapperish in this picture. The perimeter of the frame is 22 inches long and 15 1/2 inches wide with the inside perimeter is 19 inches by 12 1/2 inches. It appears to be enamelled painted over tin in dark brown. It has a convex glass of the picture.

Large Oval Antique Brass Picture Frame with Tin Back and Wooden "stretcher" 20"
20" long and 14" wide. The frame has no damage. The tin back is solid. The wooden"stretcher" has canvas on it and looks like someone did paint something on there. But then it was covered with gesso. Can either be painted over, or just remove the canvas and put your own on, or just use the wood for backing.

1897 Vintage MB Parkinson Picture Cupid Asleep Madonna Oval Litho Tin Frames
Antique original M.B. Parkinson lot up for auction. The frames werr5e made specifically for these sets of 3 pictures. Obviously missing. The Cupid-Asleep is copyrighted 1897 on the arrow. The picture is paper like and has some surface scuffs. The original frame is litho tin with a wonderful heart and ribbon design with the title on bottom. There are two very slight dents. One on the title, other to the left. Picture might not have picked up. Back is very hard composite cardboard. There are scratches in the litho. There is another MB Parkinson frame for Madonna. It has is perfect. NO dents. But there is some scratching in the litho. They measure 8 3/4" L x 6 3/4" W. Please e-mail for more pictures or questions.
