The frame has some wear, but still looks very nice. Antique Red Velvet Picture Frame, Sailboat Motif, Wire Back Stand. Pana, IL Pic.
Victorian red velvet picture frame measures 12" tall and 13" at the widest point. The arched picture window is fronted with a 3-1/2" X 5-1/8" arched beveled glass on all four sides. The early photo is of a Pana. Illinois man named Billie Smith according to a note on the back of the early photo. The velvet is severely worn. The draped design still shows at the recessed bottom. The boat has a dimensional construction with the hull proturding at the widest and the sales separated by indentations along their entire length. A wire allows the picture frame to be stood up. A penciled name written on the back indicates that the piece may have been owned by Catherine Clark Wilson and passed down through generations of family. Postage, packaging and insurance are FREE if mailed to any U.S. address.

Antique Victorian Gold Gilt Wood & Floral Gesso Picture Frame Red Velvet Border
This is an excellent antique Victorian picture frame with two contrasting wood and gesso borders and innermost red velvet covered border. The wide outermost border tapers down and outward and features an elegant floral leaf and scroll pattern. The middle border is rounded and looks like knotty wood with leafy vines. The innermost border is a newer replacement with soft red velvet. It is in excellent condition overall with only one small spot of missing gesso that has been touched up and is not noticeable. The remainder of the frame is free of chips. Cracks, and paint loss. All four corners are tight and from the back, they look like they were re-glued. Victorian Gold/White Gesso w/Red Velvet Picture Framed Francisco Goya Print
This is a fantastic Victorian picture frame with antique white(ivory) and gold finish over wonderful gesso accents all the way around the frame and a red velvet inner border. All in very good condition with just a little fading to the velvet and a few light scuffs and tiny chips on the frame. The frame is very old and is constructed mainly of old handmade square nails that can be seen from the back, with some modern nail replacements where needed. The print inside is newer than the frame, dated 1937 on the bottom(can only be seen if the print is removed from the frame) The print is titled Don Manuel Osorio de Zuniga, a painting by Francisco Goya. It was distributed by the National Committee for Art Appreciation, Ltd. The original painting, circa 1797-1788 is on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, for which the gallery label reads: ... moreThe sitter is the son of the Count and Countess of Altamira. Outfitted in a splendid red costume. He is shown playing with a pet magpie(which holds the painter's calling card in its beak) a cage full of finches, and three wide-eyed cats. In Christian art birds frequently symbolize the soul, and in Baroque art caged birds are symbolic of innocence. Goya may have intended this portrait as an illustration of the frail boundaries that separate the child's world from the forces of evil or as a commentary on the fleeting nature of innocence and youth. It’s very old and it’s gorgeous in its gold frame with red velvet mat and the engraving is mounted in the middle of the gold frame; It is an older piece but very beautiful art; it measures a_ X_ It is a wonderful piece.
