Amazing Antique Pressed Wood 35” x 17” Mountain Scene Wall Hanging Picture Frame
Up for sale is this gorgeous picture frame. I am unable to tell what type of wood it is but the frame is very fancy with a pressed design. It measures 35” by 17” and has a mountain scene picture in the frame. The piece is in great condition with no breaks or damage that I can see other than normal wear and tear from being hung and age. I do not know the age of the picture but it is old. The frame is good and tight and also has glass over the print. The print is in good shape. The top left side of the print is a little darker on top. I am not sure if that is a little water damage or just how the picture was made to look. This is a gorgeous frame and should not be overlooked! Vtg Reverse Painting/3 Angels/Ornate Gold Gilt Italian Frame/Carved Pressed Wood
Vintage reverse painted artwork made in Italy- Hollywood Regency style. Ornate octagon frame made of carved or pressed wood with fabulous scroll and flower details. Deep sculpted frame covered with gold gilding which has been whitewashed and has natural areas of distress. Stamped on the back"Made in Italy" and has a paper label which reads"W M 198. Tiny round hanger is shaped like an Olympian crown of leaves. Frame measures approximately 10" across. Three golden haired cherubs resting on rocks are reverse painted on single piece of octagonally shaped glass. Beautiful detailed painting has bright metallic gold tone paint used on cherub's hair. Wings and long grass. Two photographs above show back of glass where paint is; one shows paint with particals in it, the other photo is taken so you can"see" through ... morethe paint. Do not know if the black line illustration was printed on glass or hand created/copied- the colored areas and background are painted by hand. Top edge of painting has straight line of scuff marks on painted side(seen in last photograph above) That area of painting is usually under the frame edge and not easily seen. Painted side of glass shows stripes which do not show through to front. Stripes were caused by cardboard resting against painted area for years. Acid free paper has been added between painted side of glass and cardboard to protect painting. There are two small scratches on unpainted side of glass.
