Antique Swivel Pie Crust Picture Frame 1930-1940s?
This is a beautiful antique pie crust picture frame. Based on the detail and make of this frame. I would date this to the 1930s to 1940s. Please understand I am not an expert so I am not completely sure on the age. The frame still swivels with ease. It is in good condition but does have some wear from age. This frame still has the glass. The glass measures 9 inches by 5.5 inches.

Old estate sale find. Heavyweight wooden& gesso picture frame(no glass) Measures approx 12" X 14" Will fit a painting or picture approx 10" X 12" Frame is 2" deep. Well constructed and solid at the corners. Wonderful symmetry in the decorative design. Age unknown, but old. Could use a cleaning. Some wear the gilded antique-gold color finish, primarily on the sides. One area of front rim has a sliver of wood missing(see photo) that existed before the frame was finished, it is under the finish. This frame has not been over-painted or altered in any way. Beautiful Antique Bat Wing Pie Crust Frame With Old Maxfeild Parrish Print"Day Break" Lovely period piece with a authentic presentation. Frame is excellent. In very good antique condition, with some typical wear for the piece and the age, but no cracks, crumbling or lg chips. Wear on the side finish, small amount of wear on the gild, a few flea bites on bat wing but molding still crisp and strong. Please see detailed pictures to determine for yourself. The Maxfeild Parrish print has faired far worse, with a fading to a rather sepia hues with what must have been sun exposure over time. The print is a very old Daybreak print which seems to be original to the frame, with"Reinthal and Newman" printed on it in the left side. According to my research, Reinthal and Newman were the original publishers of Daybreak, and the only ... morecompany which Maxfeild Parrish would trust to do the printing at that time. House of Art was their distributing company. Reinthal and Newman disbanded in 1928, whereas House of Art continued on afterwards. Where that puts this print in the scheme of production, since it is labeled"Reinthal and Newman" and not"House of Art" I'm not sure. All in all, it is a wonderful period piece. The back of the piece has the title label declaring it"Day Break" with black paper backing. The paper backing is torn but still holding fast. Around the edges of the print, where it meets the frame you can barely discern some sort of mounting which is a vivid blue color, looks like it might be felt or velvet. This is an antique color photo of Mount Rainier in a pie crust or batwing frame. It dates circa 1920s or 1930s. The photo is original to the frame. Overall. Antique Gold Art Nouveau Bat Wing Pie Crust Frame Original Photo 10 X 12 Opening
This is a beautiful decorative antique gold Art Nouveau bat wing or pie crust frame with its original photo. It dates 1910s or 1920s. Overall. From winged corner to corner it measures 11 3/8 inches x 13 3/8 inches(28.9 cm x 34 cm) The back opening measures 10 inches x 12 inches(25.4 cm x 30.5 cm) The molding width varies a bit but measures approximately 7/8 inches(2.2 cm) The frame is all original. Its a high-quality frame made with wood and composition that was hand shaped. It's not from just a mold. It has a great gold color with bright golden highlights to it. It has some very light damage. There are a few minor hairline cracks to the finish due to age. The matt is a lighter color around the photo and along the site edge of the frame. But given the consistency. I believe this was done originally. There are a few spots of dirt in between ... morethe glass and the matt, but I didn't want to take it all apart to get them out(please see photos) The glass is a little loose due to lost nails. So I will be reinforcing it in the back with framing staples. They can easily be taken out. The photograph was taken by Atlantic Studio. Which is penciled in the lower right corner of the photo. It has its great old original wavy and lightly bubbled glass. The frame has developed what is just a lovely patina. It would be great for an old oil painting. Folk art work, sampler, silhouette or just by itself hanging on the wall. That's how nice it is! It weighs 1 lb. 14 oz. 854 g) It has what I always look for in frames. That wonderful old world look!
