c1840 Outstanding AMERICAN GRAIN PAINTED Pa Folk Primitive FRAKTUR Antique Frame
This is an excellent c1840 American grain painted frame. Good fiery. Bright paint.so many of these have darkened but this one has great bright colors. Typical swirled graining done to imitate the best mahogany of the time. Excellent paint retention, minor wear and mitered corners with cut nails. M easures 12 1/2 x 16 1/2 with a 10 1/2 x 14 1/2 rabbet. Great looking early American fr ame with a million uses. Tough to find. Please email with any questions. Antique Forest Landscape Painting in Outstanding Lemon Gold Hudson River Frame
Antique Landscape Painting. Either British or American. Hudson River Style. Subject is a forest/ vista view. One of the many delightful things about this painting is that there is a tiny brown puppy in the lower right hand side. Even the painting has a brown semi-circle"dome" painted in that mimics the dome of the gilded frame insert. Three letter monogram lower left, obscured by the frame.Frame has square nails and has an old wooden board as backing. The painting if fairly dark, could use a good cleaning, and has a few minor areas of paint loss. Please note that this painting does not sit well in the frame.it's loose and needs to be professionally adhered to the backing. There is also some right on the back of the frame. Alluding most likely to the artist, but it's fairly hard to read but looks like"Thompson. The frame ... moreis truly a marvelous find in its own right.Ornate in practically every square inch. Deep rich lemon gold with a matching removable domed insert which makes it what I believe is called a"Hudson River Valley School" frame. The lower left cornice has sadly crumbled. But I have most of the pieces to it, and will include it in a ziploc bag to the winning bidder along with the painting. Outstanding ANTIQUE 19th Century Gilt Wood & Gesso PAINTING FRAME And Painting
This is an excellent example of a late 19th Century frame in good. Mostly original condition. the outer edge/corners has some gesso loss in places but this is typical of an antique finish. The outer ornament has the usual fine cracks in the composition ornament and aged/distressed patina, there may have been some overpainting in places although this does not detract too much from the overall look and quality of the frame. The pattern appears to have oak leaves on the outside and grapes and grape leaves inside. Please see the pictures for details. External size: 12.25" x 14.375" or 311 mm x 365 mm Opening size: 7.5" x 9.5" or 191mm x 241.3mm Thickness: 2 1/8" or 54mm It comes with some type of oil painting on a board of what looks like a little child or boy in a chair. It isn't signed and I think the frame is nicer ... morethan the painting. So the art comes free w it.
