Wonderful Antique Oil on Board in Ornate Gesso Frame. Juglar
Excellent Antique Oil on Board. Set behind glass in a very ornate Gesso frame. I have seen a lot of miniature/small oils but not as fine, colours are vibrant and the painting is exceptionally well done. Bottom left corner is signed Joanne, underlined, then D. Juglar, and the back of the board is titled(very unclear, but I think french) The Smoker.Un Fumiere? then below, Juglar. I don't know what this all means, but it is a lovely item from an excellent Estate in Hilton Head. The Gesso Frame appears to be original to the Board, and is in very good condition but for some missing Gold detail in the upper right corner, and both bottom corners. A little real Gold Leaf could be applied to make the absence less visible to the eye, but these are minor and it is all a very rich tableau to hang on the wall, or prop on a table easel. Antique Oil on Board of "Girl with Battledore" in Gesso Frame "Nice" LQQK
Up for sale is an antique reproduction of"Girl with Battledore. in a gesso frame. This is a fine example Mid English art. I found this in my mother's garage in a bunch of boxes with lots of art. The mat is black velvet and there is a gold plate on the black velvet map in cursive"Girl with Battledore by Chandis. Some of the gesso has broken off on each of the four corners of the frame. Nothing that will require major restoration. The frame itself measures 15" wide by 17" high. The actual image is 7" 1/2 wide and 9" 1/2 high. Please ask any questions before bidding. Antique Walnut Criss Cross Frame W/ Sgd 6X8 Oil On Board Painting Of Zinnias
Description At auction is a Victorian criss-cross frame which measures 14 1/2" long. 12 1/2" wide, in total and holds a 8" long, 6" wide picture. It is made from walnut wood and has pressed wooden leaves at the corner crosses. It also has an inside liner of gilt gesso around the picture. The frame dates to the 1880's-90's but it is holding an oil on board hand painted picture of flowers, possibly zinnias, in a bowl. It is colorful and nicely done and it is signed with artist, Bessie Hanson, and dated 1964. The piece is in very nice condition with no damage to the painting and no damage to the frame except one of the corner leaves has a piece broken off. Sweet picture. Thanks for looking.

I purchased it at an estate. It actually has printed on my invoice'Antique Oil on Canvas Signed Henry Walker 1897' It is NOT oil on canvas though, it is oil on board. The board on the back has writing in what looks to be pencil and pencil markings. Where'Henry Walker 1897' is signed on the back, it might be another type of writing instrument because it is thicker and darker. Printed on the back of the board"GEORGE ROWNEY& CO. BIRCHMORE BOARD. LONDON, ENGLAND. There's some type of surface material that has worn on the wood frame on the back. Maybe where the backing was at one time. The wood on the frame still looks to be mostly intact BUT ... morethere are places around the frame where the gold gilt color has chipped or come off. The painting does show some wear. Beautiful oil painting of a pine forest It is over 100 years old It is painted on a board that was used over 100 years ago I was told that by an art dealer The paint has faded over time but it still looks good Their is some damage to the board. You can see it in the photos but it does not affect the painting It is signed by the artest in the white bark ELT their is no date It still looks good for its age It is 18 1/4 in tall by 13 1/2 in wide
