This auction is for a fabulous silhouette of a family. It is fabulous! I am not an expert in these.I just love the look. I will tell you everything that I know. The frame measures 13 1/2 inches by 11 1/2 inches. I believe these are painted on.I don't believe they are paper. I have looked with a magnifying glass and still can't quite tell. The scene is sooo lovely. The characters all have that"bronzing" to detail the picture. The frame itself is so lovely. Great gilt insert. And then the frame is I believe Birds Eye Maple. I cannot tell the age. A friend believes the silhouette is older and was reframed maybe around 1930, but again that is just an opinion. I wish I knew more. Antique Birds Eye Maple Veneer Picture Frame, Small, Wide, Birdseye
Offered for sale is an antique birds eye maple veneer frame. This is a small frame. And very wide moulding. The rabbet size is 9 3/4" X 6 3/4" with some allowance. The outside size is 14 1/8" X 11" And the moulding is almost 2 1/2" wide. So this is a very chunky, bold frame. The sight size is 9 1/4" X 6 1/4" with a rabbet depth of 3/4" plenty of room for almost anything. This has a wonderful patina and original finish. There's a few spots where the veneer is missing. And you can see in the fourth photo, there was a piece of veneer loose that was glued down. I cut this frame down from a larger one many years ago. And never used it. It sits flat, isn't warped. Nice and t i ght corners. really problem free. This could be used for many things. And of course can be hung the other way. Currently the ... moreframe has no glass, but I will cut a piece of old glass, acid free backing, and send along screw eyes and wire. I can ship this parcel select or priority mail. Antique RARE LARGE Solid Oak Frame Detailed Relief Maple Leaf 1800s Mirror
Magnificent and stately old solid oak frame in wonderful condition without damage. The outside dimensions are 26" x 48" and it receives glass or artwork that is 18" X 40" The mirror that is in the frame has lost silvering in the center. I would be happy to send only the frame and reduce your projected postage. My guess is that it is from the late 1800s and it is still very solid. Super frame. Frame measures 11" x 9" All original as found. Wonderful old patina, couple of age cracks. The deep mat is birdseye also with gilding and etching- all hand done. Message on the back indicates it was a gift in 1893. Frame has remained untouched(never been taken apart on the back to see what is behind the pine backboard. 1840s Dovetailed Birdseye Maple Frame W/ Lovely Antique Print Of 2 Young Girls
Description This beautiful antique birdseye maple frame from the 1840's measures 13" wide. 16 1/4" long, and the wood has a warm honey tone. The corners of the frame are dovetailed from the back on the diagonal, and the frame is backed with wood covered with very old paper. There is a gilded wood and gesso liner, and the frame is complemented with an exceptional Victorian print of two sweet girls sauntering barefoot. One is holding a scarf filled with grape clusters and the other is holding a basket full of the same on her head. Both girls have clusters of grapes in their hair. The print was not original to this frame. It was matted and fit into the frame at a later date, and the glass is probably not original either. It was placed above the liner and the glass has some age, but it is not early. The alterations are some years ... moreold since I have owned this piece for at least 15 years and enjoyed it very much. The frame is in very nice condition with no cracks. Scratches or gouges in the wood. The liner is fine with no discoloration or loss of gilt. The print is likewise very nice with no soiling, creases or tears. There is minor separation in the inside edges of the corners of the frame due, I believe, do natural shrinkage of the wood. The piece as a whole is outstanding and I am sure it will give its new owner as much pleasure as it has given me. Thanks for looking.

Large Antique Birdseye Maple Lemon Gold Gilt Liner Portrait Frame
This is a beautiful large antique Birdseye maple veneer and lemon gold gilt liner portrait frame. It dates sometime from the mid to later 19th century. Overall. It measures 27 7/8 inches x 33 7/8 inches(70.8 cm x 86 cm) The back opening size is 23 7/8 inches x 29 7/8 inches(60.6 cm x 75.9 cm) The site edge is 22 1/8 inches x 28 1/4 inches(56.2 cm x 71.8 cm) The molding measures 2 3/4 inches wide(7 cm) This is a really nice frame! It has a gorgeous rich color and lots of detailed birds eyes. It also has great width. You can actually see the sheets of gold leaf that were originally layed down on the liner. It was made with old square cut nails. There is no glass. The veneer is 95% intact on three sides. But only 65% intact on one of the long sides. The corners are each missing a little veneer. Fortunately, due to the darkness of the underlying ... morewood, it hardly shows. There are some missing pieces of veneer to the front. On the left molding. There's about a 1" chip off the liner in the upper left-hand corner. There's a 3" x 0.25" and another 1" x 0.25" piece of the veneer missing. On the top molding there is a 1.5" x 0.5" deep chip and a 3" x 0.25" piece of missing veneer on the upper right-hand corner. On the bottom molding there is a.75" by.25" chip. I've photographed most of these close-up. These are the major issues. There are a few small nicks. Scratches and missing veneer, but they don't stand out. Over time. Oxidation or perhaps someone's touchups have darkened the spots where the veneer is missing. But it still blends in well with the Birdseye Maple. The frame has developed a really beautiful. Rich looking patina. It would be great for an old oil painting. Folk art work, large sampler, fraktur, etc. It weighs 3 lbs. 7 oz. 1.57 kg) It has what I always look for in frames. This is a beautiful antique mid-19th century tiger maple frame. It dates circa 1850s. Overall. It measures 15 5/8 inches x 12 7/8 inches(39.7 cm x 32.7 cm) The back opening size is 12 1/8 inches. x 9 1/4 inches(30.8 cm x 23.5 cm) The molding width measures 2 1/8 inches(5.4 cm) I believe this is a tiger maple veneer over pine. But it seems like a very thick veneer. The molding slopes inward. Giving it a very handsome look. The tiger maple is subtle. Not strong. There is a 3 inch(7.6 cm) line in the finish. ANTIQUE EARLY AMERICAN ROCK MAPLE WOOD PAINTING PICTURE MIRROR FRAME 1920-1940
It's a beautiful picture frame made out of a high grade and grain of solid rock maple that's scalloped with three layers from somewhere between the 1920's and 1940's and there's not very many frames this old that are in this condition.It measures 53 1/2" x 26 1/2" out side to out and the insert is 48 3/4" x 21 9/16.This is not the original print that was in this.It's called"Wonderful Countryside" by F.Haller and was put in this frame back in the 1950's.It was oiled on a monthly basis since the time it was hung on the wall with this print in it until now.That's the only reason you will ever see a rock maple frame that's in this condition.Nothing is split or cracked and it's not dry rotted or peeling anywhere.There's two minor spots you would have a hard time even seeing.One ... moreis a tear size drop of something and the other is a real small scratch that I have pictured.The print is worthless and Is coming off the cardboard backing.It would make a beautiful mirror frame or would go great with any kind of early american artwork or furniture.It's for pick up only or I can drop it off at any pack and ship or UPS store if you want to prepay for it.I have adjusted my starting accordingly to off set the extra cost of having it packed and shipped.

Very handsome antique bird's eye maple veneer frame. This frame dates from around 1860 to 1875. It is in very good condition for it's age. The veneer is all well attached. With only a small amount of veneer loss on several corners, and a narrow strip on the top rail. The frame measures 13 1/2" X 20 1/4" on the inside, 15 3/4" X 22 1/2" on the outside. The moulding is about 1 3/8" wide, and the rabbet is about 3/4" deep, so there's plenty of room for glass, matts, or needlepoint. The birds eye is very evenly distributed on this frame, and is a very nice color and original finish. The frame is joined with square nails, not cross-nailed, and if you are looking for a good maple frame to cut down to size, this could be the one, as the veneer is in such good shape. I am selling a Handcrafted one of a kind beveled mirror frame that I made from reclaimed wormy maple. This piece of reclaimed hard rock maple was heavily eaten by carpenter ants and termites. When milling this wood I cleaned out all the loose material and created a Beautiful piece of art. The edges of this frame show the live edge of the tree and also show the band saw blade marks when originally milled. These type of marking tells us that this piece of wood was milled by an early pit saw or band saw not a newer round curricular saw blade. These markings make this wood an older piece of salvaged material. Early 1900's. With this particular frame I have built a matching pair. This one I am auction off is labeled, 1 from the set.
