This nice late 1800s print depicts the President/General on Horseback and measures 26” x 20” framed with 21 5/8” x 15 ¼” reveal and 22 ¼” x 16” back opening. This superb frame measures an impressive 29” x 34” overall with 21 ¼” x 26 ¼” reveal and 22 x 27” back rabbet opening. The stacked gesso moldings are 4” wide and 4” deep! I see minimal loss in the original gesso designs under the much later coat of gold paint. The paint has dulled pleasantly with time. But is not more that 40 or 50 years old. It is sturdy and usable. Winner gets a great antique. Fancy gold gilt gesso and wood Hudson River School frame. The frame is in overall great condition, with only very minor gesso loss on the outer border. The frame has an inner beaded border, which is also in great condition with no gilt loss. The intermediate border which connects the outer border to the beaded inner border, does have a few small scratches and gilt loss, as seen in picture 3. Picture 4 shows one of the minor areas of gesso loss on the outer border. All this frame needs is a painting or mirror and it's ready to hang on the wall! Antique 19th Century Walnut Fluted Cove Deepwell Hudson River School Frame
This is an antique 19th-century walnut fluted cove deepwell Hudson River School frame. I would date it 1860s to 1870s. Overall. The frame measures 20 1/8 inches by 16 15/16 inches(51.1 cm x 43 cm) The back opening size is 14 7/8 inches by 11 5/8 inches(37.8 cm x 29.5 cm) The molding width measures 2 7/8 inches(7.3 cm) The frame itself is fairly thick at 2 1/8 inches(5.4 cm) It has its original finish. Some of it has worn off or has been lightly scratched off. There are two areas right next to each other where the finish is a little discolored along the fluted cove section(please see photos) There are a number of tiny chips or dings to the finish. But nothing very deep. However, they are noticeable. Also. Each corner has openings where the wood meets. I don't know if this is original or shrinkage. It has old square nails. Antique Forest Landscape Painting in Outstanding Lemon Gold Hudson River Frame
Antique Landscape Painting. Either British or American. Hudson River Style. Subject is a forest/ vista view. One of the many delightful things about this painting is that there is a tiny brown puppy in the lower right hand side. Even the painting has a brown semi-circle"dome" painted in that mimics the dome of the gilded frame insert. Three letter monogram lower left, obscured by the frame.Frame has square nails and has an old wooden board as backing. The painting if fairly dark, could use a good cleaning, and has a few minor areas of paint loss. Please note that this painting does not sit well in the frame.it's loose and needs to be professionally adhered to the backing. There is also some right on the back of the frame. Alluding most likely to the artist, but it's fairly hard to read but looks like"Thompson. The frame ... moreis truly a marvelous find in its own right.Ornate in practically every square inch. Deep rich lemon gold with a matching removable domed insert which makes it what I believe is called a"Hudson River Valley School" frame. The lower left cornice has sadly crumbled. An antique. Oil on canvas painting of lovely, country scene featuring a stone bridge with houses and cows at the river's edge. The painting, inside 24" wide by 18" high within frame measuring 28 1/2' by 22 1/2" has been cleaned, restored and ready for hanging. The scene is reminiscent of the Hudson River genre, although I haven't been able to come up with the exact location. The composition is wonderful with the interesting trees, the steep roofs and even a possible toll house on the bridge.you can see the meandering river and mountains in the far distance. A truly massive carved and gilded Hudson River style cove frame made for a large oil painting by Alfred Thompson Bricher. If you collect or deal in Bricher's works you know that this size frame was made for a Bricher as he painted wide views of this size regularly. Rabbet opening measures 36.25 x 17.25 inches(he did both 17 x 36 oils and 18 x 36.
