The hands have red nail polish and lace cuffs tie with a red ribbon. It is 4 1/4" in diameter and about 4 1/4" high with the hands being about 2 1/2" long. Condition is very good for its age and material but there is crazing on the hands as seen in the photos and a chip in the base seen in the 4th and 6th photos. A great antique diorama. Just out of a local house is this very nice pair of antique wall hung picture frames that were used for framing Daguerreotypes. They have flowers and ladies faces on an ornate scroll design frame. They both have their original decorated glass inserts and remnants of their paper labels that were marked Daguerreotype. I have seen this called Napoleon III frames. The frames measure 9 7/8 inches high and 8 inches at its widest. The frames are in good condition with some cracking. Small chips, and wear to the finish. The glass insert in one is in excellent condition but the other insert has some of the black reverse paint flaking. See photos. It could best be described as in between a terra cotta and milk chocolate color. It has an early patent date stamped on the backside of"PATENTED AUG.7. 1855" The frame itself has a whimsical look about it. Complete with thisle flowers and cut wood branches. The picture appears to be a early portrait of a Navel Commander. It is a steel engraving. Not sure who it is. It is decorated to the top with a central oval reserve and surrounded by garlands of flowers and leaves wreaths. Scrolls which continue to the lateral panels.to the top a swirling ends ribbon in bow adorning its elegant shape. It stands on two delicate feet. Its attractive black color and decoration in high relief gives it appearance of finely carved Ebony wood. It has a metal back with hinged easel with clasp and hanging loop. Its interior has been professionally re-lined with fine French Moiré and the metal back has been touched up. Mentioned for completeness. It bears no chips or cracks whatsoever, ... moreit is in superb antique condition. It measures 5 3/16” in height by about 3 5/8” across to its widest point and 3 ¼” by 2 1/8” to the opening where the picture goes, it weighs 4.23 oz or 120 grams.
