There is no damage to speak off. Some issues on the backside to the raised sections that hold the photographs. The thin strips of wood have cracked in a number of places, a few small pieces missing. This picture frame hung in my great great grandmother's parlor with a picture of her infant who was born and died in 1888 at 7 months age. The first picture shows the memorial dove and poem. It has been stored all these years since. And it is time to pass it on to someone else who would like it. Measuring 20" x 32" it can hang either way-vertically or horizontally. The original glass is included. The glass size is 14"x 26" It is wavy, as I hope you can see from my pictures. There are two round hooks for picture wire, as shown in one the photos. Offered for auction is a very unusual heavy brass photograph frame. The vintage frame has a beautiful pierced matte with long flowers in each corner. The border of the frame is very detailed. The back of the frame is black wood. It is held in place with two folded tabs. Two tabs are missing but the back is still secure. There are three solder marks on the base of the frame which I have highlighted in a photo. I'm not sure why these spots are there but they do not show when the frame is upright. The frame is 10 1/8 inches high and 8 1/8 inches across. The pierced matte is 1 1/8 inches wide. The photo size is 6 5/8 inches high and 4 1/2 inches wide. The frame weighs nearly three pounds. The plastic type material just before the gilded brass corners is the old hard heavy solid type(I believe the same type of material that is found in the cases of daguerreotype photo cases. Very unusual 2" wide all white gesso over wood shabby antique picture frame. Opening fits 8"x11" There is no traditional rabbet opening on the back. Instead there have been tiny brads that held the art in place(a few of them remain) There are areas of missing gesso that could be repaired. Or left as is for a romantic shabby look. The inner 1/2" of the frame looks like it had some kind of trim that was glued on but is no longer there. The bare wood shows through in much of this area. One of them is the gilt inner frame and the next is an interesting hand sponged wooden frame. The joinery is perfect on the outer frame and it is all very solid. Antique Beautiful Frame with Embossed Roses Insert and More - Unusual
This is beautiful and unusual. It is a lovely gold oval frame with painted raised leaves and fruit. I believe the roses is a postcard with a paper mat and inserted with dried leaf and grasses. The back is a square cut out with wire for hanging. I bought this about 15 years ago at an antique show in Washington state. It meas. approx. 10 1/4" x 12 1/4" overall, inside dimensions are approx. 6" x 8" I have taken pics of some of the holes/ cracks in the frame and a few spots on the paper matting. VINTAGE Unusual Hanging WOOD Picture FRAME W/ Picture of Victorian LADY
Up for auction is a vintage framed picture of a lady gathering flowers. 9½" tall. And just under 7" wide at the widest point(top) I picked this up at an estate auction. And found it quite unusual! The outer frame may be plywood, and it has, what appears to be, a paper lantern decoration attached just above the picture. The backing is rectangular and paper covered. There is a tiny bubble in the glass which cannot be seen except with magnification. I found this to be quite charming. And have had it in my collection of vintage framed pieces. We are downsizing. It looks and feels like a modern reproduction. But the paper on the back appears old, as does the hanging hardware. It could be an early 20th Century frame that's in remarkably good condition with almost fresh paint. Or it could be a more modern reproduction made to look old. The wood is light-weight, or perhaps it's an artificial wood composition. You be the judge. Frame appears carved. But the carving is so regular that I would guess it to be pressed instead. Have nothing in your houses that you do not consider to be beautiful or useful. William Morris Unusual Round Ribboned-top Easel-back Photo/Picture Frame 1850's A rare round beveled glass. Brass photo/picture frame from the Napoleon III period- 1850's or so- with an ormulu ribbon and bow on the top, resting on two ball feet. The easel-back of the frame has a spring mechanism in the back centerpiece which keeps the photograph in place. The entire frame is made out of very heavy brass and was obviously hand assembled. The glass measures 4 inches in diameter(10 cms) and the overall height is 5 1/4 inches. Round frames are unusual to find- especially with a round beveled glass in pristine condition- no chips no nicks. No fissures. The spring works well and tightly, the easel back is solidly attached as are the ball feet. The bow ribbon ... moreis thicker than was the usual style. There is very minor wear on the bottom part of the frame but nothing significant. The size. The shape and the condition of this photo frame make it an exceptional find. This is an unusual vintage hand made tramp art oval picture frame from the depression era; the original hand cut glass has a pale greenish aqua tint. This is a small 18th C style floral still life framed in gold. But it is made entirely of plaster or clay. There is a label on the back reading"Borghese" You must pick it up and feel it to realize it is not a real painting in a wooden frame. It measures 6 1/4" by 7 1/2" and there is a hanger on the back. The frame has large open blossoms on each corner with a tiny little ornament which resembles an open delicate pea pod. The main rectangular frame is edged with scrolls. Curlicues, rose buds, open blossoms, even a few tiny blossoms mixed into its ornate golden border. The photograph’s inner frame is a simple border of small alternating orbs& abstract shapes. The back of the frame is plain& simple, yet elegant in its rectangular lines which meet at right angles on the corners. Unusual Vintage Metal TRAMP ART PICTURE FRAME small easel excellent condition
Small table frame from victorian period c1890-1915: Small. Authentic antique table easel frame. I calling this a primitive or Tramp Art frame since it seems hand made to me BUT this is not verified. I could be"out to lunch" and I welcome you insights if you know more. However. In 30+ years of collecting I haven't seen another made like this. Spiral. Curly adornments of various sizes on flat metal sheet, which almost has a galvanized look. Soldering shows as it did when made and is part of the reason I call this hand-wrought. Small old victorian photo inside as I bought it years ago. Back has original thick blue velvet back and attached/hinged easel. Moveable clasps to hold back are present and in working order. c1860 UNUSUAL WIDE Deep Cove VICTORIAN Deepwell Mahogany Veneered Antique Frame
This is an excellent. Unusually wide, c1860 deep cove mahogany veneered Victorian frame. Frame has the original lemon gilded liner inside the deep cove with wide 5" mahogany veneered molding. Square nailed, mitered corners. Unusually wide and deep. Frame is in excellent condition with some corner shrinkage and some minor veneer losses on the outer edge. Frame measures 26 5/8 x 30 with an 18 x 21 rabbet and 3" depth. Pl ease email with any questions. Check my feedback and bid with confidence. BEAUTIFUL VERY UNUSUAL ANTIQUE MAHOGANY PICTURE FRAME 18 1/4" X 14 1/8" C-1892
ThIs is a beautiful and unusual antique mahogany veneer picture frame from 1892. The frame is 18 1/4" x 14 1/8" and is 1" deep. The finish is original with heavy laquer and has a little wear on the back edges as pictured. But overall in amazing condition. This frme was made by Wheeler-Hudson Company in Boston in 1892. These frames were only made for around 10 months, by the company. My Grandfather bought the frame and several others in September 1892, and it was in my family ever since. For the last 55 years it hung with a picture of my Grandfather in my Vermont house. The shipping charge includes postage. Insurance, tracking and packaging.
