Vtg Hand-Made Florentia Italy Poem A Doctor's Hands in Wooden Frame Under Glass
A vintage hand-crafted Florentia framed print titled"A Doctor's Hands. made in Italy. This came from the estate sale of a doctor in Cosicana, Texas. The wooden frame is light turquoise blue with a gilded design around the inner rim and also on the bottom edge. The paper print under the glass has a beautiful ornate design in gold, peacock blue, green, and red surrounding the poem. The back is covered in red and gold paper with a sticker saying: A Decorative craft, Florentia, Hand Made in Italy. Nothing to indicate when this was made or the author of the poem. It has a top center metal loop on the back for hanging. Measurements are 7-1/4" by 10-3/8" It is in very good condition, but the frame does have some light scuffs and scrapes and could use some cleaning, but I was afraid I would remove paint if I worked on it much. ... moreAlso, there are some light spots beneath the glass that could use a little cleaning, but the paper backing would have to be removed to do that, and it really isn't bad. The frame is still tight at the joints and the glass has no chips or cracks. No bad issues at all. In the photo, one side of the blue frame appears brighter than the other- caused by the lighting- and the truest color is on the left, not the electric blue on the right.

It is a deco style around the poem. The colors are black. Gold, orange, and blue with touches of white. This is right out of the 1930's or 1940's but it is in very good condition. The colors on the frame have faded buy can be easily revived with a touch of oil. I left it as is since many collectors prefer the older patina. Fresh find from an old home here in Monroe Michigan-Nice old art deco picture frame. Great poem by Edgar Guest. Dated on poem-1925. Will accept your own print of 7 by 10 inches( which is the back opening of the frame)No glass-I don't think it ever had one. I have not done any refinishing to the frame. Nice worn antique look with great patina appearance. Ready to hang as is or use for your project. Mirror, portrait, or art work! Unusual to find these nice old frames. Condition as shown in scan.
