Antique Filigree Silver Frame - Marked 937
This is a gorgeous antique silver picture frame marked 937. With a light gold wash on raised spots of intricate filigree. The frame is 14" high, 11 1/8" across, and weighs 23.0(troy) ounces. Not sure about the rest of the frame's unusual silver hallmarks. I suspect that it was made in Scandinavian. Holland or central Europe around the end of the 19th century. Danish hallmarks often featured the silversmith's initials, while the pictorial themes on the frame's corners are common in much of central Europe, and the script used in the hallmarks was especially common in Holland from 1895 to 1905. The subtle gold wash is worn a bit on the front corners. And around the edge on the backside of the frame. The filigreed surface polishes to a mirror shine, which in our photograph unfortunately distorts the gold color due to distorted ... morereflection of objects throughout the room. The actual effect of the gold wash is somewhat like light rouge on a lady's face, a bit more intense on inner surfaces than near the edges. The back of the frame is complete with the stand for desktop display(NOT original) And an extra thick piece of hand cut glass I think is the original glass. Three tabs on the back to secure the pic, glass are still securely attached to frame, the top one is where all the hallmarks are. There are 2 additional tabs on the sides, although they have been bent up to remove the backing.

We are pleased to offer this exceptional. Antique, framed print. The print is signed(picture 5) The subject is an exquisitely executed sketch of a Skye Terrier. The detailing is remarkable and quite realistic. The expression is captivating. The print is framed in the most beautiful manner. The antique, wooden frame is large and substantial. It is finished in black with thick, carved wood, acanthus leaf and scroll accents. These accents highlight and practically cover each corner and extend up the sides, top and bottom. They are gold giltwood and are striking against the black. The print has EDIZ P.V. 21 inscribed under the terrier(picture 6) According to a couple of knowledgeable sources. This indicate that this is, in fact, an engraved reprint of an original art. The number 21 indicates the printing was done in 1921. The matte is also stamped ... morewith two insignias(see picture#7) The first is a fleur de lis with a circle around it. In very tiny print within this circle are the the words, Ediz. P.V. Fiorenza" This indicates that the print and matte were done in Italy. The second stamp on the frame is an artist's paint brush surrounded by a rectangle. Inside the rectangle are the words"Coloratura a Mano" and"Originale Ponte Vecchio" According to what I find online, this is the company in Italy that did the printing. This company was in business in the 1920s and the 1930s. This is an exceptional piece. Both in design and in quality. It is simply stunning. It is in very good condition with only minor scuffing to the finish of the frame. It is covered with a black fiber paper on the back which is still in very good condition. The hangers and wire are still in place. This piece has been well cared for. The measurements are as follows: The exterior frame measures 21" wide and 24" tall. The glass. A gorgeous large frame for artwork. In a light wood. With'Arquati Brev. or'Bre. Arquati' surrounding the backing paper and'Arquati' impressed in script on each side. Measurements: 23 1/2" high x 39 1/4" wide x 1/2" deep. The sides of the frame molding are 1 5/8" wide. Not certain of the wood. The frame is fronted by the molding- there are two separate wood pieces that are neatly nailed together, two very small nails/tacks at each corner(visible at the side edges) The glaze is lovely yellow w/dark streaks, the frame is in excellent condition, very minor corners bumps perhaps- not a major problem seen here. A very heavy frame- likely due to the glass and the masonite that is used as a back board. The frame carries the additional marks Prata 833(which is Silver 833 in Portuguese) and SP748. Please see pictures. Antique Landscape Colored 7" by 9" PictureTin Frame Unique Marked 1900
Up for bid is an antique picture. A river and trees at sunset. The picture is mounted on a thick piece of black cardboard and glued together. The glue has come through a great deal of the picture but the picture itself is intact and quit visible. What makes the piece unique is the large decorative gold tin corners that are in excellent condition. I wouldn't sell this except for this decorative design. On the back it says Anna 1900 and has another number on another sticker. The picture measures 7 1/4" by 9 1/4' and with the corners 10" by 12" I have been trying to sell baseball cards and 45 records the last few months with no luck. So back to what I know.
