The little girl tentatively clings to her brother, while riding the massive St. Bernard; leaving a cottage in the background. A beautiful image; with each child wearing attire of the times; the boy with an interesting fur cap. The early lithograph presents very well, although showing some mention worthy stress lines at the left portion of the image. I found a copy of the portrait on eBay that is rectangular, and has“Christ Is The Head Of This House” There is also the original cardboard backing that has hand written numbers 17477 in blue pencil and what appears to be a name or signature in lead pencil. The artists signature is in the lower right hand corner in the darker background area and is hard to photograph. Biography: CARL BLOCH ~(1834-1890) At age twenty-five he found himself in Rome. A hub of European artistic learning. Bloch eagerly accepted the ambience of this centuries-old culture. He was greatly influenced by the masterworks of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. This influence is evident in many of his paintings throughout his productive career. Bloch studied in Rome for about six years. Afterwards. He returned to his Danish homeland where he lived for the remainder of his life. On his return home in 1865, Bloch received a prestigious commission to paint a series of paintings for the National Historical Museum at the Frederiksborg Castle. OLD Sleeping Baby Print Frame F R Harper New York Lithograph Art Movie Poster
This listing is for a Beautiful print and frame. The print has some dirt spots on it where dirt got in between the print and the glass. I didn't attempt to clean as I was afraid I would damage it. The flaws show in the pictures. The print is by F R Harper. Who is mostly known for his Indian paintings. He was born in 1876 and died in 1948. I wasn't able to find very much information on him. This print is called"A Gift from Heaven" I assume it is from the 1920's but I am just guessing. The backing to the print is from an old cardboard movie poster. I'm guessing it is from"The Four Just Men" at least that is the only movie that I could find that it might be. The frame is unique and beautiful. It is carved wood. Has blue paint that is worn in several spots. The only thing I see wrong with it other than paint ... moreloss is one corner doesn't meet perfectly but it is still in very sturdy condition. Measures 10 5/8ths by 13 5/8ths inches not counting the design on top of frame. It was framed in Brooklyn. New York but I cannot make out who framed/made it. I can only make out the last letter of E. We are selling this 19th century hand carved gilded frame which is in Very Good conditions for its age. Has nicks on each corner not larger that half inch each and at the top, is missing a small part of the carving for a length of about 2.c5 inches. The frame measures 40 X 32 inches, very large museum quality probably made in Germany. The width of the carved part of the frame is 6 inches! The frame has an original colored lithograph plate signed by Arturo Ricci protected by glass. The frame is heavy weighting close to 35 lbs. It will be packaged and shipped by a professional so expect a charge close to $125.

Old Colorful Cottage Scene Lithograph in 16 3/4 x 13 3/4 Antique Frame
Thank you for considering this auction. The frame. Alone, is worth the starting price for this auction. The frame is antique but I am not an expert on determining age. A careful look at the frame reveals beautiful raised relief carved molding at each corner. The frame is wood but the species is unknown to me. It is painted gold so no wood grain shows. The frame is approximately 16 3/4 inches by 13 3/4 inches. If the lithograph is not wanted then the frame could be used for almost any other piece of art. An old black and white photo would look incredible in this frame. On the back of the picture is a thin white wire to hang the picture. There is a paper thin mat with green lines close to where the lithograph is mounted. The lines were drawn probably to trick the eye into thinking there were multiple mats. The mat is yellowed from age and exposure ... moreto light. But this gives the picture some of its character in my opinion. I love that the mat is yellowed! But a new mat could easily be cut for this frame. The lithograph is probably very old. The subject matter and the frame itself seem to point to it being an antique. The lithograph depicts a lovely English type cottage with an English garden of lovely flowers of various heights. The lithograph image area is 9 1/4 inches by 6 3/8 inches. Copyright 1894- J. Hoover. The frame with the lithograph were handed down from relatives. Joseph Hoover is a searchable lithographer from Philadelphia and had originally made frames in the mid 1800's before he started printing. The chromolithograph is marked with his name. And the antique frame is most likely one made by Hoover. The frame is very large and heavy measuring 36: x 31" It is constructed of several layers of both wood and what I believe is ornately pressed composition. The frame is 6" thick. The opening is 19 1/2 x 23 1/2" The print is not titled. The print is in very good condition, but the border has 2 or 3 tears that remain outside of the 1 1/2" range of the print. There are some, what looks like large foxing spots in the white border, also and one infringes about 1/2" onto the print. All except ... morethe one, which is not very noticeable, should be able to be matted out. Because of the weight and the difficulty in packaging, I am not including the glass. The original backing was 2 wide pieces of shingle-type wood which are included.

This auction is for an Antique Chromolithograph of Mother(Mary) and Child(Jesus) in a spectacularly Ornate Gilded Gesso wooden frame with flowing Ribboned Bows dating back to the turn of the last century or perhaps even to the mid to late 1800’s. The dimensions are 23” in length and 19 ¼” wide. The Chromolith itself is 18 ½” in length and 14 ¾” wide. Please note the watermark at bottom left hand corner and very slight at top and left sided edge. The frame is slightly chippy in some places(see photos) But does not detract in my opinion. Up for sale is this antique hand colored lithograph of roses. This is most likely a Currier& Ives lithograph that was long ago trimmed to fit in this frame. But it could be one of the lithograph firms of that era as well. Lithograph is really in great condition, nice even toning, small stain bottom left corner and towards the top right. Frame has some damage on the bottom left corner in a few spots and one spot on the bottom left corner, but still is quite pleasant on the eyes. We are pleased to offer this beautiful. OLD, wall frame. The frame is French Barbizon style with very ornate, dimensional details. The outer section features scrolled leaves and beaded accents. There is a section of quatrefoil pattern and the inner frame consists of small leaves, scrolled. The frame is old and is in original condition with no repairs. It is held together with the original nails. The backing is an old(original? piece of wood. The frame is in very nice condition with very little evidence of age. The corners do show some minor separation, but nothing that compromises the structural integrity of the frame. The gesso is in tact. It does appear that someone nailed the frame to the wall(thru the front) in one area, but it is not distracting and it can be filled if you desired. STUNNING ANTIQUE FRAME! The listing includes the large(42"x28" solid wood. Double portrait frame and 2 old lithographs. The frame is STUNNING and in the French Empire style. The wood retains the original finish of a beautiful, burgundy red. It is beautifully detailed with gesso/gold leaf trim which are quite striking against the burgundy color of the wood. The perimeter is adorned with a dimensional rope detail which is beaded in between the rope sections. Each corner features a large, acanthus leaf accent. The top features a double rope border with gesso florets in between. In the center is a shield which is formed with the rope trim and an acanthus leaf crown. The portrait sections are very large(19.5" tall and 15.25" wide) They are trimmed with a raised border of petite roses, again in gesso over wood. It features gilded gesso accents. The lithograph print is quite lovely and very colorful. It features the assumption of Mary who is accompanied by several cherubs. Both the frame and the print are in good, antique condition with some evidence of age. The print has a couple of creased areas but it is intact. The frame is missing two small gesso sections which can be replaced. As it is, it is quite beautiful with a fabulous antique character. Antique Lg Triple Walnut Victorian Frame-27.5" x 23.5" w Lithograph Child Jesus
This is a very lovely vintage lithograph of Jesus as a child. Most likely a Northern European likeness. Gorgeous blue eyes, curly blondish brown hair, pale coloring. His robe is decorated around the neck and sleeves with a blue overlapped robe. He has a wooden cross in his left hand, up over his shoulder. He also has a globus cruciger(Latin for"cross- bearing orb" in his right hand. It symbolizes Christ's(the cross) dominion over the world(the orb) Literally held in the dominion of the ruler, or sometimes a celestial being like an angel. When held by Christ himself, the being is known in iconography of Western art as Salvator Mundi(Saviour of the World)Courtesy of Wikipedia. No pixels observed with the jewelers loop, great vintage colors in the lithograph. The lithograph is 20 1/4" by 16" no issues at all to report, ... moreno rips, tears or holes, no odor. The print is unsigned. There are slight darkened spots noticed on both side edges, I believe this is due to age and where the nails were hammered into the underneath backing. The glass appears original, some waviness noted, no chips or cracks. This 1800's Victorian frame is stunning. And large, 27 1/2" by 23 1/2" and approximately 2" thick. Made up of three heavy wooden frames fitted together, just a masterful work. The outer two frames are Walnut, the inner most was painted a pale cream color which does highlight the print very nicely as you can see by my photos. I would think that innermost frame was walnut also but do not know in fact. There are a few little"dings" noted, but none too spectacular. Could easily be remedied with a gentle cleaning and some wax, or a wax/ stain product. The finish on this frame is shiny, and very well loved, see 5th and 6th photos for a close up. The back is done in a heavy, old cardboard, now darkened from age, I have never tried to lift this board, as I felt no need and worried about its fragile state. ART DECO REVERSE PAINTED FRAME. ORIGINAL 40s ELVGREN CALENDAR LITHOGRAPH.
You are viewing a large beautiful Art Deco frame from the 30s or 40s. Black and cream colored with gold accents. Frame is in excellent condition for it's age. With very minor, unnoticeable dings on the edges. Included is an original unused Louis F Dow Co. litho print by Gil Elvgren. Often used as a salesmen calendar top in the 40s. The frame measures 13" x 11" with a 9 1/4" x 7 1/4" photo opening. Rare to see them in this large wedding photo size. Feel free to ask any questions.
