Large Late 19th Century GOLD GILDED GESSO On WOOD Frame SUPERIOR SHAPE
The beautiful and ornate antique frame came with a painting in it. And the stretcher corner braces are marked"PAT Feb 13, 1883, June 16, 1885, A.D.S. which gives a very accurate date for this frames creation! The frame is solid and in remarkable condition for one of this age, with very minor damage to the gesso and some corner baldness(see photos 2,3, and 4 for examples! Approx. 50.75" X 46.75" with each side being 4 3/8" wide, it will accommodate a 42.25" X 38" canvas! I am selling the painting separately, partly because this frame is too large to fit in my car, so I hope to sell it for local pick-up! I did wipe it off with warm water and dirt did come off, but particularly in the upper right hand corner, there are some stains that I don't think will come off, but I think it still looks great. This is an early solid oak shaving mirror. It still has it's original shellac finish which looks to be in good shape for it's age. It has a lower compartment to hold your shaving items like a straight razor. Shaving soap, and brush. Could also have been used to hold toothbrush items. This shaving mirror has the original old glass as it has a few waves in it. It's held in with an old backboard and nails. This frame is solidly built. Antique Wooden Frame and Portrait Wonderful French wooden frame dating from the late 1800s, and featuring a hand-drawn portrait(despite the photographic detail. The picture is in fact amazingly, a sketch. of two adorable children in their“Sunday-Best” clothes. Despite the formality of the occasion. There is a twinkle in their eyes which shows how proud they are of this important moment. Rather large. The frame measures about 20” by 17½” the interior is over 16” by 13½” It has a golden patina retaining a lovely aged sheen. This is a very handsome burl wood and golden oak frame. The main section is a great looking burl wood veneer and the inner and outer sections are golden oak. I would date it late 1890s to approximately 1910. Overall. It measures 15 3/8" x 18 3/8" 39.05 cm x 46.67 cm) The back opening size is 12 1/8" x 15 1/8" 30.8 cm x 38.42 cm) The molding width measures 1 7/8" 4.76 cm) This frame is in very good condition. This is an antique Italian late 18th or early 19th century gold gilded carved frame. Overall. It measures 23 7/8 inches x 17 1/2 inches(60.64 cm x 44.45 cm) The back opening size is 20 1/2 inches x 14 1/8 inches(52.07 cm x 35.88 cm) The molding measures 2 3/8 inches wide(6.03 cm) I have to say. This is one great-looking frame. However. It does have a few flaws. Mostly, there are about a dozen spots where the gold is chipped off. This will need some type of retouching. On the bottom piece of the molding there is a 1/4 inch round piece of gold missing also(64 cm) There are also a few tiny nicks on it. But they are simply age-related for an antique frame. On the back of the frame. Someone wrote in pencil many years ago Tuscan School 18th century. There is also an odd piece of cork along the bottom piece of the molding in the rear. Along the ... moretop and to the side there are numbers written which I believe signify the frame came from a museum and was deaccessioned at one point. Along the top molding in the rear there is a triangle shape with three holes in it where I believe there was one of the early handwrought hooks that are found in frames of this age. Unfortunately, it's gone. It has no glass. The patina is unusually beautiful. It weighs 2 lbs. 7 oz. 1.11 kg) It would be great for an old oil painting. Please take a look at this lovely Victorian 3 Layer Deep Well Ebonized Guilded Eastlake Wood Frame from the late 1800s. This is an outstanding late 1800s brilliant gilded Victorian Aesthetic Eastlake three layer deep-well frame in nearly mint condition. The interior layer is gilded and is in very good condition with only minor discoloration or wear. The second layer is ebonized and incised decoration in a floral design. The outermost layer is wood. Probably walnut. The frame is in very good condition with only very minor wear. From the back you can see the multi-layered. Square nailed construction with the original shingle backboard. This wonderful frame measures 14-1/2” x 12-1/2” with a 9-3/4” x 7-3/4” opening. The print is Currier and Ives“American Farmyard Evening” which first came out in 1857. Large Late 19th C Antique Victorian Deep Well Eastlake Marbleized Portrait Frame
This is a large late 19th century antique deep well Victorian era Eastlake marbleized portrait frame with its original photo. I would date it circa 1880s. Overall. It measures 23 1/2 inches x 27 1/2 inches(59.7 cm x 69.9 cm) The back opening size is 18 1/2 inches x 22 1/4 inches(47 cm x 56.5 cm) The molding width is 2 3/4 inches(7 cm) It's fairly hard to find a frame this size in this style. It's all original. With no restoration. It has its original old photo. The photo has some places where it was eaten by silverfish and an approximately 1 1/2 inch(3.8 cm) tear just above the man's left shoulder. The frame has various spots with minor nicks. Light scratches and a few very small places with chipped gesso. But given the age of the frame, it's really minimal. It has its original bubbled and wavy glass. What appear to be old ... morescratches are actually just lines in the glass itself. It's a great looking piece of early glass! The frame has developed a beautiful old patina. Antique Picture Frame- Shadow Box Style. Marbleized Plaster On Wood. This is a very lovely wood frame that features plaster painted to look like a marbleized effect. The most inner portion of the frame features a gold painted design. Which further accentuates the frame as"it" will any picture displayed in it! Overall. The frame is in very good condition with exception to 2 tiny areas. In the one corner a piece of the marbleized plaster is missing. Truly its very tiny area, that measures approx. a 1/4 inch long, its not very noticeable. The other corner directly across from it has the same issue with a very tiny missing piece of plaster( see photos- I highlighted the areas of the corners in the photos, with a green rectangle) The other 2 corners are good without any noticeable issues. This is a very nice quality frame with gold leaf- showing great craftsmanship. Character& style. The frame has thick sculpted. Elaborate& ornate gesso. It has wide. Thick moldings, that total 4 1/2 inches wide. There are 3 distinctly different parts to the frame. The outer panel is 1 1/2" wide- it is a simple gold leaf panel with a curved molding The middle panel is 2" wide- it is the most ornate part of the frame. It has a beautifully carved design that repeats every 4 1/2 inches. The inner panel is just over 1" wide and is a gold leaf panel with a 1/2” wide ornate carved design on the inside edge. We do not see any makers marks or names. The two original hooks ... morefor hanging are still attached to the eyelets on the back. The back of the frame is a dark aged wood- this is an old frame. From our research we believe this from the Victorian era. The late 1800s. The i nside rabbet measurements are 40 3/8" x 18 1/8" The outside frame measurements are 48 3/4" x 26 3/4" The moulding measures 4 1/2" wide and is approx 2" thick. This frame weighs approx 8 lbs. The frame is in very good vintage condition. The wood has no cracks or structural damage. The gold leaf has age expected patina and light hairline cracks. As you can see in our pictures. The gesso finish has some minimal losses. We have made no attempt to clean the frame to preserve the age patina. Please look at our pictures and ask any questions you may have. Antique Late 19th Century Art Nouveau French Hand Carved Frame
This is a very impressive antique late 19th century French handcarved frame. I must say. It's both beautiful and handsome at the same time. There is newspaper writing on the back in French dated December 1888. It has a wonderful Art Nouveau feeling about it. Overall. It measures 20 inches across and 23 7/8 inches tall(50.8 cm x 60.6 cm) The picture opening size is approximately 9 1/4 inches x 12 3/4 inches(23.5 cm x 32.4 cm) The site edge is 9 inches x 12 1/2 inches(22.9 cm x 31.8 cm) These measurements are all approximations, due to the uniqueness of the frame. The frame is approximately 2 inches deep from the front to the wall(5.1cm) The detail on the frame is just beautiful. The carving is very intricate and must have been done by a very skilled and talented carver. The work on this frame is just lovely. The corners are each covered ... morein veneer(please see photos) I believe that at one time the sides were also covered in veneer. But at one point someone took it off due to chipping and tried to make it all blend in. I must say they did a pretty good job except for a couple of areas. For instance, on the top left corner, the veneer just ends. On the other three corners, it blends in with the other wood. On the corner where it just ends, there is also a chip to the corner and a 1 inch by 1/2 inch(2.5 cm x 1.3 cm) chunk out of the wood(please see photos) I actually hadn't noticed this veneer damage until I started photographing it. There are a couple of very tiny dings and one small chipped off piece(in the top right area) to the floral carving on the oval section. In order to put a picture into it. You must first unscrew the front off. The screws go in through the back and into the oval front piece. There is no glass. It's developed a beautiful patina over the years. It weighs 7 lbs. 13 oz. 3.5 kg) It has what I always look for in frames. That wonderful old world look!

This is a lovely antique late 19th century Eastlake and lemon gold gilt frame. It dates circa 1870s or 1880s. Overall. It measures 14" x 16" 35.6 cm x 40.6 cm) The back opening size is 8.125" x 10.125" 20.6 cm x 25.7 cm) The molding is 3 inches wide(7.6 cm) The entire frame measures 2 1/2 inches deep(6.4 centimeters) It has those wonderful old square cut nails. It comes with glass. But it's definitely not the original old piece. It does however have its original backboard. The Eastlake carving on it is very well done. The inner section is a lemon gold gilt liner. It has a number of small chips and dings on it. There is a chip in each corner. There's also a noticeable chip on one of the short sides right on the outer edge measuring approximately 3/4" by 1/8" 1.9 cm x.3 cm) There are about five small chips ... moreto the lemon gold liner. There is a tiny chip on one of the long sections in the black area. Other than these. There are light dings and scratches on various parts of the frame. This is fairly common for these old Eastlake frames. Overall though. It's a beautiful looking frame. It would be great for an old oil painting. 20th Century Silver Picture Frame Metal Gilt 36 x 36 Ogee Profile Late 20th C.
For your consideration a silver metal leaf modernist style frame. Unknown maker but probably 25- 30 years old. I purchased it in a grouping from a estate sale at an artist's home. Measures 36-1/8 x 36-1/8 inches inside dimensions. Over all outside dimension is 39 x 39. The molding is about 2 inches deep by 1-3/4 wide with a 1 inch + rabbit depth. The condition is not like new and I have not cleaned it. It has wear from age and handling throughout. Previous owner did some silver paint touch up in a few spots and it blends nicely. There are some nicks. Scrapes, and wear through the gilt, and tarnish. The corners are tight, though there is evidence of surface cracks at the joints. In my opinion all the loses give it nice character of age. It is made of bass wood and it is stiff and straight with no warping. It has a great look suitable for ... moremodern art requiring silver gilt. Also nice square size to use with or without a liner. This auction is for an Antique Chromolithograph of Mother(Mary) and Child(Jesus) in a spectacularly Ornate Gilded Gesso wooden frame with flowing Ribboned Bows dating back to the turn of the last century or perhaps even to the mid to late 1800’s. Small Antique Walnut Frame with Gilt Edging Circa Late 1800's Adirondack Design
Up for auction is a walnut Victorian frame. Adirnondack design with intricate carving. No defects noted. Minor scratches on gold insert, commensurate with age. I do not touch up my antique pieces as I am a purist and would prefer the buyer to make modifications. This is an unusal piece and in my antiques career, I have never come across this type of frame in such a condition. Carvings are not damaged, which is usually the case. Vintage Plaster On Wood Shadow Box Picture Frame - Late 1800s
Wood Picture Frame- Plaster On Wood- Etched Beautiful old ornate picture frame. 27" wide. 17" high and 4" deep. Inside picture area dimensions are 7.5" wide and 9.5" high. DEPTH of the frame is 4.5" There are four bands of design around the frame on four different levels. At the highest level of the frame is a lush wood and black design 2" wide. The second level is a designed band 1.5" wide. The third section is striped Gold Gild 1" The fourth section(gilded gold) 1/2" wide. On close inspection there a few nicks on the exterior section which can be easily repaired. Frame is original and in very good condition.

ANTIQUE BRASS FRENCH STYLE TRIPTYCH DIMINUTIVE PHOTO FRAME - LATE 1800's
For your consideration is this exquisite antique French style brass diminutive triptych photo frame. I am speculating this wonderful little frame was made in the late 1800's due to the style with the easel back and what appears to be a gold finish. Ormolu. The gilding process used in the 1800's was accomplished by applying a gold-mercury amalgam over a base metal and then applying extreme heat to rid the piece of the mercury leaving just the gold. I am not an expert on this but suggest this may be an ormolu piece because it has a beautiful warm gold color, not brassy at all with the exception of the back plates which do appear more of a true brass color. Please look at the photos carefully as they are part of the description and show in detail the amazing beauty of this little frame. Three wonderful little frames hinged together to ... moremake a stunning display of the then common tiny photos one would get straight from the photographer. If you can imagine the old negatives you used to get with your photos when you took them to be developed, these were about the same size diminutive photos that were so popular back then. Easy to just develop the negative without enlarging. The larger center frame measures just shy of 3.25" tall by 2" wide and each side frame measures just shy of 2.5" tall by 1.75" wide. Please note that these frames do not all fold flat on top of one another. the hinges won't allow it. One frame will fold in flat and then the other only folds so far. Each frame has what appears to be a rose colored silk shantung covered matt with gold edging. The photos just don't do a justice for this little frame. Lovely. Elegant, imposing LARGE late-Victorian faux-wood gesso-on-wood oval frame! Beautifully detailed faux-wood grain! Someone at a point added a board to the back, which makes the frame super sturdy. The front has a few chips to the gesso, but exclusively on the edges. Antique Handmade Silk Fan Photo Frame 3 Photos Included Late 1800's
I found this frame at an estate sale in Birmingham Al years ago when the Dawson home was sold. This frame was in the attic and it does have issues although its still beautiful. It was handmade and you can still see the line marks drawn to form the spokes of the fan. The fan is covered in silk and some has been worn away. It doesn't look new anymore. Either the fabric had a flower design or it was painted on. I don't know. Embroidery and appliques are on as well. It measures about 9x15 inches. There is a tassel on the bottom that might could be re-attached and it does still have the tack attached. The hanging cord is off on one side and would need to be re-attached if you hoped to hang it. There are 3 spaces for photos and these are with it as well. They measure about 4 inches tall and are a man. Woman on a swing and woman. The photos ... moreare faded, but the woman on the swing is the brightest. The backs of 2 of the photos have maker marks. The man's card says Elrod Bros. Cortes de visite Photograph Gallery Opposite Court House Lexington Kentucky. The woman on the swing says J.W. Turner& Son Photographers Marion Al Pictures made by the Instantaneous Process. The 3 picture. Of a woman, has no marks. The box that this was stored in is an old Vanity Fair Silk Underwear box and it is in bad condition. With some parts missing. This is a beautiful antique late 19th century Aesthetic Movement frame. It dates circa 1870s to 1880s. Overall. It measures 11 5/8 inches x 13 3/4 inches(29.5 cm x 34.9 cm) The back opening size is 8 1/8 inches x 10 1/4 inches(20.6 cm x 26 cm) The molding measures 2 inches wide(5.1 cm) This is one good looking frame! It has flowers going around the entire center of the frame. The middle of the frame and two types on the exterior of the frame. There's a lot of other pretty decoration throughout. It has some light chipping in each corner. But nothing bad at all. One corner looks to have a very old age crack on it, but this does not affect the sturdiness of the frame at all. It has those cool old square hand cut nails. It has its great old wavy and bubbly glass. There are some light scratches to it though. The patina it's developed is ... morejust beautiful. We have researched and believe this piece to be mid to late 1800's. The matting has a slight stain on the bottom. The paper cross has a small piece missing from lower left. LATE 20th Century ART CRAFTS NOUVEAU IMPRESSIONIST Gilded Antique Painting Frame
Excellent contemporary gilded arts and crafts frame that i would guess is 10-30 years old. Newcomb macklin style molding with closed corners and brightly gilded surface. Frame is in nice condition with one area of repair and a piece missing broken off of the back molding(not visible from front) Frame measures 26 1/8 x 33 1/8 with a with a 20 1/8 x 27 1/8 rabbet.
