Gorgeous antique vintage very large picture frame. Wood and gesso composition on this very large picture frame. Very ornate gold design on both the large outer border and smaller inner border. Don't mind that there is a portrait of a cute little dog! Just found today at an estate sale. The estate's brother told me that this was an old family pet that had since passed on. The frame itself measures a whopping 26 1/2" x 30 1/2" The interior measurements are 16" x 20" Very nice condition ~ I had to look closely at the frame to see if I could find anything wrong with it. And with the exception of a few tiny spots of the gold missing in the gesso, it is very nice shape. The glass was replaced when they put the portrait of the dog in it, as it looks like it is non-glare type of glass. VINTAGE BRASS TONE FRAME MOIRE MAT w/ METAL LINER & ANTIQUE PRINT 2 WOMEN 1880's
BEAUTIFUL VINTAGE TOOLED-DESIGN METAL FRAME– BRASS TONE WITH INSET BRASS TONE LINER INSIDE THE MOIRE MAT– Frame and contents weigh almost 2 pounds before any packing materials. Frame is circa 1930– 1940’s– the print is earlier and could be partially hand colored. The frame contains glass. The original velvet easel back in pretty good original condition, a moiré type mat w/ metal decoration, and a colored antique print of 2 women, probably 1860’s. Raised tooled design on all sides of the frame– the sides have a floral design that matches the floral appliqué on each corner. Antique print which is visible about 7 ¼ inches by just less 9 ¼ inches. The print is taped to the back of the mat– see photo. MEASUREMENTS: from the outside the measurements are 10 inches by 12 inches. With a piece of glass approximately the same size ... morethat slides into the frame from the lower back side. The glass, the mat, and the print are held in place by the easel back. The frame contains a moiré mat with an inset liner of brass tone metal. A few minor discolorations on the metal mat liner– would probably polish out. The metal frame is attracted by a magnet. The mat opening from the front is 7 ¼ inches by just less 9 ¼ inches. This is a Henry Buser(1840-1903) stereograph picture of a young boy holding a candle and what appears to me to be a bible. Possibly a 1st communion picture. Buser had his business in the 1880's in Cedar Rapids. Iowa where this picture was taken as the picture shows. The picture is in good condition but as you can see in the pictures that I posted, the frame has a defect on the top right corner. The frame also has red fabric around the picture that has much wear. Lovely antique gilt gold Victorian frame/fits a 14" X 20" painting/circa 1880
This is a really pretty and beautifully designed Victorian frame made around 1880. While I cannot be sure. It looks like it is finished in metal leaf. It is made to fit a painting that is 14" by 20, so it's a common and sought-after size Overall size is 19" by 25. Condition is as found and as shown. Has a few minor losses- the most obvious being some liner loss of the sand and gold mixture. While I do not see that as a major problem, it's an easy fix by making your own sand/gold mixture and gluing it in place. This is a really sweet design that will enhance any pice of 19th century art. 1880's Victorian Ebonized Eastlake DOUBLE Picture Frame Orig Matting Aesthetic
This item is fresh out of a local basement where it was stored for years! I don't recall seeing one like this before! Overall. The piece is about 12 x 16 and does have some chipping, wear, and touchups to some chipped areas. One of the small brass half metal pieces is missing in the u/r. The piece still displays just well as it is. The decorative picture frames flip up. I'm not sure if there was wire holding them at one time like a magazine rack that would hang on a wall. Large 33”X 40” Antique Silver Leaf Gilt Lemon Gold Frame – Circa 1880
This is a great large old hard to find frame in very good condition. It measures 33” by 40” inches on the outside and the site size(inside measurements) are 26 ½” by 33 ½” and it is 3” wide. Just like my other two frames it’s got great deep gold color and a nice shine and it’s in fantastic condition waiting for that special item or a mirror to be framed. It’s in great condition! There is normal aging and very little chipping. You will be very pleased with this frame as its not painted gold like many of the others you will find on Ebay! It’s shown with a mirror in the picture but the mirror is not included as its too expensive and hard to ship. Shipping the mirror would cost you more than buying a new one anyway! It’s got great color and a nice shine. This frame has some stenciled lines on it but it is hard to see and photograph due to the reflective nature of the frame. There is normal aging and very little no noticeable chipping. This is an authentic silver leaf frame as its not painted silver like many of the others you will find on Ebay! The stunning frame measures 45" X 40" on outside dimensions and stands 3" out from the wall. The walls of the frame itself are about 6" in width and fully covered with carved flowers and leaves in wood. Plaster, and gesso. The frame is in excellent condition with just a nick or two and one missing flower on the LL corner. The wood work is not flat across but multi-leveled with each level having a different design. There is a sheet of glass mounted over the painting and it is raised up about an inch ... moreso as not to touch the surface. The charming painting of three children is in excellent condition. These three are the first Kemps children(there were seven total) And the boy is William Henry Kemps(1878- 1964) He was the founder of Kemps Ice Cream and the FER- MIL- LAC Process Company. This framed painting is quite large and heavy and will have to be professionally packed and shipped as freight. There is a ridge inside to secure the picture in place. As well as little adjustable arms for each side. The Aesthetic Movement was popular in the late 1800's. It was known for its Far Eastern influence and prominent use of nature ~ especially flowers. Birds, insects, ginko leaves, and peacock feathers. The Curved Back design is well supported by the original easel back and strong paw feet. For stability. One paw twists forward, and the other backward. That is how it was designed. Antique Victorian Deepwell Marbleized Picture Frame 1880's Original Glass
This auction is for an original Victorian deepwell marbleized wooden picture frame. The frame measures 12" X 14" and it would hold an 8" X 10" picture or smaller. The depth of the frame is 2" The frame is in good antique condition considering its age and has its original glass on the front. It looks like it can use a lot of cleaning. The corners have very mild wear and the thin interior line around the higher section of the frame looks whiter on one side than the others. If the others are cleaned. We think the color will be the same. We also see some gold paint on the front glass probably from an old retouch on the gold. On the back. Awesome Original 1880's Ornate Gold Gesso Square Frame w/Oval 16X20 Opening Ex-
This is still the coolest antique frame I've ever owned and among the most distinctive I've seen anywhere. It was my great grandfathers here in SC and I inherited it many years ago. I have displayed just a few portraits in it at my photography studio over 25 years and always. Always received more compliments and questions about it than any other thing I had in there. This delightful authentic frame has an outer dimension of 20"x 24"inches and will hold a 16" x 20" inch painting or photograph in it's it's oval opening. It's at least 125 years old but doesn't look it and save for a few very minor fissures and I think, three very small areas where a little gold surface paint is missing, it's in superb shape. Those three little ares of missing paint can be easily taken care of with some gold fill ... morewhich is readily available at most frame/hobby stores but you might want to leave it as it is because some antiques are worth more untouched than altered and it never bothered me. Check out the photos and you'll see for yourself what great shape this frame is in. Many frames on e-bay claim to be authentic antiques or even vintage, when in reality, they are not, and a dead giveaway is when the seller doesn't photograph the back of the frame to prove it. I assure you this one is, and any savvy person who knows a anything about antique frames can confirm this just by looking at my photos. By the way, the bridal photo, still one of my favorites from my early Hasselblad film wedding and bridal photography days, is about 25 years old, taken at Edisto Memorial Gardens in Orangeburg SC of a marvelous lady audiologist named Tammy, whose bridal and wedding I photographed back then. If the buyer would like me to leave the portrait in the frame I will include it in the sale at no extra charge. I will pack it well, ship insured, and follow up with tracking info. You're bidding on a nifty tabletop wood frame with easel construction.this ebonized. Eastlake-style example was created in the 1880's.in chipped but otherwise good condition(see below) From a local estate.see our eBay seller's list for more fresh finds. Pictured with an apple to help illustrate its size. Forgive any reflections in the glass. This example has a hand painted matte with an inner ruffled velvet lining. Under glass, a lovely Victorian thing. Carved details throughout-see photos. Total height is 20-1/4" and the width is 8-1/4" Sight measurements of the glass are 10-3/4 by 6-3/4" The opening for the picture is about 3-3/4" by 7-1/4" at the center of the domed top. Easel-type leg device attached with hinges-all original. The condition is good but as is due to the number of chips to the ebonized ... moresurface. Structurally sound with no missing or replaced parts. Take a good look at all the photos to better ascertain the condition. The chips reveal the white of the gesso underneath as do the carved details. The matte is quite nice(and beautifully executed) The most interior cardboard lining. Behind the velvet, has a chip. With a straight and simple top decoration. The glass measures 8 1/4 inches tall and 4 inches wide. There is a spring mechanism that keeps the glass and picture in place and it rests on two ball feet. There is also a small ring in the back to hang it on the wall. The glass has nibbles on the bottom corners. Not really that visible when a photograph is in place. These kind of sober frames with the straight tops were called a‘gentleman’s frame. In contrast to those with the flowing ribbons and flowers. The spring works well and is tight.
