This is an oval antique gold frame with a charming print of two boys and their dog fishing at a brook. The frame is 10 1/2 inches by 8 3/4 inches. The print has an embossed oval matte. It has the original glass and wood backing. It looks like someone added the wire for hanging recently. No chips. Cracks or splits in the frame, but the paint does have wear(see photos. VINTAGE OAK FRAME MADE WITH WIDE CURVED OAK MOLDING. Outer measurements of the frame are 10 ½ inches by about 12 ½ inches. With an opening for the glass and print pf 8 inches by 10 inches. The front curved molding is about 1 ½ inch wide. The frame is about 3/4 inch deep. FRAME IS GOOD AND SOLID– NO WIGGLE. No spaces at the corners of the frame. The oak is tight-grained. The frame has the original finish on it. The frame is circa 1960’s– 1970’s. Contains a very sweet contemporary print of an old style scene– a little girl is trying to give a carrot to her dog. Who is not at all interested. The dog is furry– maybe part German Shepherd? The colors and the details of the print are better than my picture. The print is on cardboard. We are pleased to offer this exceptional. Antique, framed print. The print is signed(picture 5) The subject is an exquisitely executed sketch of a Skye Terrier. The detailing is remarkable and quite realistic. The expression is captivating. The print is framed in the most beautiful manner. The antique French style, wooden frame is large and substantial. It is finished in black with thick, carved wood, acanthus leaf and scroll accents. These accents highlight and practically cover each corner and extend up the sides, top and bottom. They are gold giltwood and are striking against the black. The print has EDIZ P.V. 21 inscribed under the terrier(picture 6) According to a couple of knowledgeable sources. This indicate that this is, in fact, an engraved reprint of an original art. The number 21 indicates the printing was done in 1921. The matte ... moreis also stamped with two insignias(see picture#7) The first is a fleur de lis with a circle around it. In very tiny print within this circle are the the words, Ediz. P.V. Fiorenza" This indicates that the print and matte were done in Italy. The second stamp on the frame is an artist's paint brush surrounded by a rectangle. Inside the rectangle are the words"Coloratura a Mano" and"Originale Ponte Vecchio" According to what I find online, this is the company in Italy that did the printing. This company was in business in the 1920s and the 1930s. This is an exceptional piece. Both in design and in quality. It is simply stunning. It is in very good condition with only minor scuffing to the finish of the frame. It is covered with a black fiber paper on the back which is still in very good condition. The hangers and wire are still in place. This piece has been well cared for. The measurements are as follows: The exterior frame measures 21" wide and 24" tall. The glass. Antique Victorian Girl w/ Dog Litho Print in Ornate Gold Gilt Wood & Gesso Frame
This is a fantastic antique lithograph print of a young girl playing with her teddy bear and her dog. The colors are beautiful and bold but may be slightly faded. And look excellent in the gold gilt frame. The print is slightly wavy but does not have any creases or tears, or water damage. The frame is in good condition with some small chips of gesso missing that are not obvious because they have been touched up with gold paint. The entire frame looks like it may have been re-painted at one time but still looks slightly darkened from age. The glass, print, and cardboard back panel are held snugly in place with some wooden slats that are nailed to the back with three pieces of a yard stick placed behind them. There is a wire screwed onto the back for wall hanging. Vintage antique print that depicts a mother Springer Spaniel Dog with her litter of six puppy dogs. They are all playing around her. Beautiful collectible print by the reknown artist Edmund Osthaus. Print is known as the title: NO PLACE FOR A FROG. With this print being a rounded oval shape. The signaturer which would be in the lower right hand area is missing. As also this particular image issue was released by the E.I. DUPONT De Nemours Powder Co. Illustration by the famous artist. EDMUND HENRY OSTHAUS, AMERICAN. 1858-1928) Edmund Henry Osthaus was born in Hildesheim. Germany in 1858. His parents immigrated to the United States first and Osthaus followed them in 1883 with his sister. He was invited to become principal at new the Toledo Academy of Fine Arts. In 1892. He married Charlotte Becker with whom he had several children. Osthaus ... moreleft the Academy in 1893 to spend more time working with his field dogs(primarily setters and pointers) Shooting and to pursue his painting. That year he opened a studio in Toledo. He helped found the National Field Trial Association and for its first 30 years immortalized each year’s field trial winning dogs. He painted a series of“champion portraits” that the Du Pont gunpowder company used as advertising pieces like calendars, postcards and lithographs. While Osthaus is most well-known for his sporting dog pieces. He also completed many fine landscapes of cowboys on horseback, horses, cows and traditional portraits. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN WALNUT FRAME circa 1880– 1900’s– contains vintage print- engraving of a furry dog that looks very mischievous– think the dog has just pulled a curtain down from the wall. And is looking guilty. Very cute expression on the dog. The vintage print is probably circa 1950’s– 1960’s. Outer measurements of the frame are 19 ½ inches by just over 25 inches. Has glass and cardboard backing. Frame molding is 1 ¾ inches deep from the side. Opening size for the glass and contents is 14 ¼ inches by 20 ¼ inches. Corners of the frame are good–the frame is solid and does not wiggle. Tiny spaces in the corners– each corner is pictured so you can see the spaces are very small. The frame could be used vertically or horizontally. Frame& contents weigh about 7 pounds before any packing materials. The walnut is the original ... morematte finish. A good honey brown color with a wide gold tone liner. a good contrast to the walnut. Some discolorations on the original finish of the gold tone liner. Antique 1879 Can't You Talk Dog Cat Baby Print Gold Gilt Oak Gesso 4 Layer Frame
This is a fantastic original 1879 chromolithograph print of"Can't You Talk" in which a young child is awaiting a response from her collie under the close eye of her cat. The color. Condition, and quality of the print are very good with no obvious damage except for a very small, unnoticeable tear, and a slight crease toward the bottom, which is almost invisible. I don't see any staining, foxing, or other tears or creases. The frame also looks very good and is all original and nearly 100% complete(except for a few touch-ups) with alternating layers contoured oak and ornate gold gilt gesso patterns. The gold areas have acquired a darkened. Aged patina, and there are a few chips in the gesso that have been concealed with matching paint. All four corners of the frame have a very slight gap, but there is absolutely no looseness. ... moreThe glass is original and has some gorgeous character to it including waves, many tiny bubbles, a few tiny lumps, and one large bubble(over 1" L and almost 1/4" W! The wooden back panel has been replaced by cardboard and is held in by newer nails. The outer measurements of the frame are 20 1/4" W x 22 1/4" H and the print measures 10" W x 12" H. It will be packed very well. Double boxed, and insured during shipping.
