This item is a very heavy. Cut glass picture frame. The photo cover is glass with a velvet-like backing plate. The total frame size is approximately 9.5-inches by 8-inches and it can accommodate a picture of up to 6.5-inches by 4.5-inches. I have no idea of it's age or where it is from. I purchased two identical frames at an estate sale in San Diego and have the other frame also listed here on eBay.

The overall frame size is about 5-1/4" by 7-1/4" and is heavily decorated with engraved flower, leaf, and border patterns(see pictures- 3 is the front, 4 is the back) The oval presentation area is 3" by 5" with its own engraved necklace. There are no chips, cracks, scratches, mars, or stains of any kind. To install your picture simply center the oval back on the picture, trace around it and cut it out. Beautifully hand carved wood frame with glass. Nicely matted hand cut paper or doily'crosses within a cross' The outline of the cross is also crosses. We have researched and believe this piece to be mid to late 1800's. The matting has a slight stain on the bottom. The paper cross has a small piece missing from lower left. We feel the piece is probably in between the matting, however we do not want to take the original backing off as this should be done by a professional.
