This is a well made antique Arts& Crafts Mission quartersawn solid fumed oak frame. It was made during the Stickley era. It dates from the very late 19th century to the early 20th century. Overall. It measures 22 3/8 inches by 26 3/8 inches(56.8 cm x 67 cm) The back opening size is 18 inches by 22 inches(45.7 cm x 55.9 cm) The molding width is 2 1/2 inches(6.35 cm) There are no chips or repairs. However there are minor scuffs and flea bites on it from wear. Overall, it is in very good original condition with a great patina. Antique Arts and Crafts wood picture frame. App. 10.5" x 12.5" outside dimension, wavy glass, and a bonus portrait signed by the artist. I believe this is Chestnut, but I am not an expert. It's 3" wide across the front, 3/4" depth. There is an intentional gap that radiates from the center of each corner to tightly close at the corners. The wood gently slopes from the outside to the inside. A simple band edges the corners. The opening is 6.5" x 4.5" Fabulous condition with just a few surface scratches that I have photographed in detail. Easily remedied. If you like. I can do it. The lovely portrait in profile looks at first glance to be a photograph. But the paper looks like printmakers paper, and it is signed in pencil, so maybe a photogravure? Or another technique? WHEN MADE: Early 1900s SIZE: The frame itself is 8 3/4" square with the inside opening measurement being 6 1/4" square.
