The frame is squared with flared ends. It features a large, round center opening for a picture or mirror. The patterning consists of ornate scrolling and acanthus leaf accents at each corner. There is a beautiful lined, incised design as well as a raised floral border around the center opening. The frame is in very good, antique condition with only minor signs of age/wear. Robert Lehman's parents, Philip and Carrie Lehman, laid the foundation for the collection around 1905, when they began acquiring works of art for their recently completed townhouse on West 54th Street in New York City. This is a beautifully made. Very heavy French gilt bronze photo frame from the 19 th century. It looks very architectural to me– like a gable with a pediment. The bronze has been very deeply sculpted with great detail. There are lion’s heads along the sides and intricate design work all around. Leg stand rotates. The piece at the back unscrews to insert a photo. One of the screws appears to be stuck but would be easy to replace or repair. At the center of the crown. A bit of the gold has worn away revealing the bronze underneath. Displayed on its own or as part of a grouping. It will add grace and charm to any room. Antique Late 19th Century Art Nouveau French Hand Carved Frame
This is a very impressive antique late 19th century French handcarved frame. I must say. It's both beautiful and handsome at the same time. There is newspaper writing on the back in French dated December 1888. It has a wonderful Art Nouveau feeling about it. Overall. It measures 20 inches across and 23 7/8 inches tall(50.8 cm x 60.6 cm) The picture opening size is approximately 9 1/4 inches x 12 3/4 inches(23.5 cm x 32.4 cm) The site edge is 9 inches x 12 1/2 inches(22.9 cm x 31.8 cm) These measurements are all approximations, due to the uniqueness of the frame. The frame is approximately 2 inches deep from the front to the wall(5.1cm) The detail on the frame is just beautiful. The carving is very intricate and must have been done by a very skilled and talented carver. The work on this frame is just lovely. The corners are each covered ... morein veneer(please see photos) I believe that at one time the sides were also covered in veneer. But at one point someone took it off due to chipping and tried to make it all blend in. I must say they did a pretty good job except for a couple of areas. For instance, on the top left corner, the veneer just ends. On the other three corners, it blends in with the other wood. On the corner where it just ends, there is also a chip to the corner and a 1 inch by 1/2 inch(2.5 cm x 1.3 cm) chunk out of the wood(please see photos) I actually hadn't noticed this veneer damage until I started photographing it. There are a couple of very tiny dings and one small chipped off piece(in the top right area) to the floral carving on the oval section. In order to put a picture into it. You must first unscrew the front off. The screws go in through the back and into the oval front piece. There is no glass. It's developed a beautiful patina over the years. It weighs 7 lbs. 13 oz. 3.5 kg) It has what I always look for in frames. That wonderful old world look!

The frame has substantial weight and I am guessing its either cast iron or brass. The glass is not original, has little chips in the corners(not visible though) and slides a bit but it will suffice if you chose not to replace the glass. This a gorgeous mid 18th century Dutch oil painting. And a beautiful late 18th century gold French fame. The Dutch oil painting Height is 18 in, Length 23in. The oil painting doesn't have a signature from the artist, but it could be underneath the frame. The oil painting has cracks in it as you can tell in the pictures, but the lower right bottom is the worst area, but for a mid 18th century oil panting it's in excellent shape. 18th CENTURY FRENCH GILT FRAMED PERIOD RUSSIAN PRINT OF THE WINTER PALACE
For your pleasure is a early 18 th century to mid 19 th century Landscape. Russian origin. The print is in fine condition with a slight discolouration in the center this is due to the fact that it is from a small edition of Lithographs printed in Russia. I do know that it was a present to a friend of an emigré and that the frame is original to the period even though it appears to be of French origin. It is gilt still very much intact. The problems are the corners as this is such a nice period piece it would be well worth it to have it restored as the prices for period frames is to-day very high. I was told that it was re matted in the 1970's. The frame measures 16.5 inches by 13.75 inches. Please see the accompanying photos. And feel free to ask questions, thanks.

OK it is time for the sale of my life. A lifelong antique dealer I have ended up here in rural Canada surrounded by antique trunks of my old collections. Of things that just do not work here, just are not needed here. I live right on the border I can see Maine from my porch for real but live in Canada and it's like going from Montreal to a town like you'd see in a 1960s Peyton Place. Although where I live is more like Peyton Place on Fire(PPOF) it is fashionable, but nobody needs 300 tablecloths or antique draperies for days. I can only redo the draperies in my tiny antique house so many times before my friends and family(My mother married herself into 3/4th of the town in her 3rd marriage, I'm halfways related to everyone from the mayor to the village idiot) stops acting pleased at the magic I can do with antique damask and velvet ... moreand instead calls Social Services for how many times can I redo the curtains I insist on calling draperies? There are no draperies in rural Atlantic Canada only curtains. So anyway, this information in hand- suffering week number seven of I, a Canadian of dual citizenship who grew up in Bostons's best neighborhood, am beginning to crack open these damn trunks. I've promised myself I'll only make one more portiere this year for myself and I'll sell enough fabric from my collection to get MY DRESS DUMMY JOAN RIVERS back. I sold her to a friend and my friend has graciously agreed to resell her to me/send her home so that I can continue my design collection. I don't need trunks of fabric. I need Joan Rivers home to help me make it as a designer like that odd Bette Midler movie where she is kidnapped and kept in a basement in like Malibu and is forced to become friends with this young struggling designer who helps her lose weight and she makes it after all? Sort of like that, but for women of fuller figures.
