This is an antique early 20th century Arts and Crafts or Art Deco decorative frame with a later matt. I would date it 1920s or 1930s. Overall. The frame measures 13 1/4 inches by 17 1/4 inches(33.66 cm x 43.82 cm) The back opening size is 12 inches by 16 1/8 inches(30.5 cm x 40.96 cm) The molding width measures 13/16 inches(2.06 cm) I initially thought this was a handcarved frame. But as I kept staring at it I came to the conclusion it is composition attached to the base wood. But it sure does look handcarved! The thin flat part of the front of the frame has noticeable light wear all along it. Please see photos) The decorative composition part is in very good condition. Though it does have that same type of wear. It also has a few very tiny nicks on the inner edge. But they're not very noticeable. Antique Late 19th Century Art Nouveau French Hand Carved Frame
This is a very impressive antique late 19th century French handcarved frame. I must say. It's both beautiful and handsome at the same time. There is newspaper writing on the back in French dated December 1888. It has a wonderful Art Nouveau feeling about it. Overall. It measures 20 inches across and 23 7/8 inches tall(50.8 cm x 60.6 cm) The picture opening size is approximately 9 1/4 inches x 12 3/4 inches(23.5 cm x 32.4 cm) The site edge is 9 inches x 12 1/2 inches(22.9 cm x 31.8 cm) These measurements are all approximations, due to the uniqueness of the frame. The frame is approximately 2 inches deep from the front to the wall(5.1cm) The detail on the frame is just beautiful. The carving is very intricate and must have been done by a very skilled and talented carver. The work on this frame is just lovely. The corners are each covered ... morein veneer(please see photos) I believe that at one time the sides were also covered in veneer. But at one point someone took it off due to chipping and tried to make it all blend in. I must say they did a pretty good job except for a couple of areas. For instance, on the top left corner, the veneer just ends. On the other three corners, it blends in with the other wood. On the corner where it just ends, there is also a chip to the corner and a 1 inch by 1/2 inch(2.5 cm x 1.3 cm) chunk out of the wood(please see photos) I actually hadn't noticed this veneer damage until I started photographing it. There are a couple of very tiny dings and one small chipped off piece(in the top right area) to the floral carving on the oval section. In order to put a picture into it. You must first unscrew the front off. The screws go in through the back and into the oval front piece. There is no glass. It's developed a beautiful patina over the years. It weighs 7 lbs. 13 oz. 3.5 kg) It has what I always look for in frames. That wonderful old world look!

Vintage Art Deco Mid Century Modern Silver Geometric Frame 17 X 22 Opening
This is a great looking vintage Art Deco or Mid Century Modern geometric frame. The dimensional aspect of this frame gives it a wonderful design. It dates circa 1930s or 1940s. Overall it measures 19 1/2 inches x 24 1/2 inches(49.5 cm x 62.2 cm) The back opening size is 17 1/8 inches x 22 1/8 inches(43.5 cm x 56.2 cm) The molding measures 1 1/2 inches wide(3.8 cm) Though the dimensions are unusual. This frame can easily be cut down by a willing frame store. The frame has crackling throughout the entire finish. Personally. I think this is what makes it look so good. It has a number of small nicks and scratches to it. Most notably a 1/4 inch(63 cm) indentation on the top piece of molding towards the left side and a chip in the center of the bottom molding about the same size(please see photos) However, these marks all tend to blend in with ... morethe overall look of the frame. Vintage Large CARVED Wood Mid-Century MODERNIST Frame 22 1/8 x 28 1/8 c1960s Art
Here is a nice vintage carved wood picture frame. It used to house a early 1960s oil portrait. It is made of a medium- weight wood, had originally been finished with some light brown paint and then some dark gold paint brushed on top of that. Much has worn away, so it has a nice authentic patina only found with true age.The entire frame measures 27 x 33 ins. the molding is about 3 ins. wide. The insert rabbet for your art is 22 1/8 x 28 1/8 ins. The frame is in fair as is vintage condition with the above noted wear to the finish,some scrapes to the finish, wobbliness and one corner needs to be re-glued for stability( or your framer can do it for the entire frame) This woudl be perfect for Modern. Excellent contemporary gilded arts and crafts frame that i would guess is 10-30 years old. Newcomb macklin style molding with closed corners and brightly gilded surface.
