Stunning and all original beveled mirror.made of very heavy metal. Lovely detailed floral design with medallions in a classic curved pattern in the crest. The ornate design is cut open metal with gorgeous gold leaf patina and it appears to be possibly French. It is all original with metal backing. Gorgeous old frame.im not sure of the metal though of what it is.It has oxidized areas. Gone green.in parts. I have used this frame in my home to display two Santa prints made of German postcard images.you can have them if you want them. The glass is held in place with the velvet backed boards using nails that slide into holes. It has lots of ware. Velvet is deteriorating but this is still lovely in your home. Sold as seen. Antique Victorian Cast Gilt Metal Painted Photo Picture Frame Or Mirror Acanthus
Victorian cast metal or brass that is painted off white picture frame or mirror. The picture frame has very nice rococco style acanthus leaves designs all round and it is self standing with an easel type of metal on the back that folds in or extends out to hold the picture frame in place. The area for a picture or for a mirror has an opening on the front of 3 3/4" X 5 1/2" The measurements of the whole frame are 12" long X 8 1/2" wide. Please note that we are not sure if the off white paint finish is original to the frame or if someone did this at a later date. We do know however. That the frame itself is indeed dating from the Victorian Era. If the new owner wishes to remove the off white paint, the frame would show its gold gilt under coat which is now visible in a few areas here and there where the paint wore off. Antique E.J.S. Mfg. Co. (PA) Gilt Cast Metal/Wood Frame Early Art Nouveau
For auction is a gorgeous cast metal and wood gilt frame made by the E.J.S. Manufacturing Co. in 1889. It was given as a wedding gift in 1914. The son of the original owner has written“1914” on the back with a marker pen. Overall dimensions of the wood frame part itself are 8-1/8 inches x 10.75 inches. The metal decorative element at the top is 1.5” tall and 4.5” wide. The ornate feet are also made of cast metal. As you can see. The frame stands on its own. The inside measurements of the frame are 7” x 9.5” The glass is held in place by little nails. The glass is included. Overall condition is excellent. There’re what appear to be some greenish blue spots on side of the right base support. But these could be small areas where the gilt has worn off(see photos) How old is it? I know it was given as a wedding gift in 1914. But it may have been ... moremanufactured as early as 1889. Note the“89” on the back of the left flourish. Or is that some kind of manufacturing number? Certainly the ornate top decoration is something one would expect from the Victorian Era. But the sides and even the feet are more representative of early Art Nouveau. The frame measures 11 inches in height and 8 ½ inches across. The actual picture opening measures 5 inches by ¾ inches. The back is stamped with the number 08939. The easel piece has broken off. However. There is a new epoxy that just came out last year that will set this piece back in place permanently. Or, you can take a pretty piece of satin ribbon and thread it through the scrolling leaf pattern and hang the frame on the wall. The overall condition is very, very good but for the broken easel back. The original silver patina is worn a very tiny bit due to age but overall shows very, very well.
