Ornate Antique Victorian Carved Oak Wood Picture Frame
The outer dimensions of this antique frame are approx. 21 3/4" x 25 3/4" The inside dimensions. What size print will fit, are approx. 14 1/2" x 18 1/2" of course, you could also use a mat) The ornate borders are wood, most of the ones you find have a plaster or gesso that is molded to shape. I would assume that this was not an inexpensive frame in it's day. It is in super condition, with only very slight blemishes- VERY slight. Thanks for viewing this auction.

Intense tiger-striped grains, cleaned original finish, great detail, dark golden brown hues, nice patina, unusual and elegant design. It has a raised and carved face and a 1" wide inner gesso frame. Very solid, tight, NO separation/age shrinkage to the corners, some wear to the old original finish. It holds an old restrike of a bird's eye view of Boston. The print is in excellent antique condition with no stains or rips, does have some wrinkling. ANTIQUE OAK FRAME– TIGHT GRAINED OAK w/ CENTER CARVED GESSO TRIM OF ACORNS AND LEAVES- ORIGINAL FINISH with a soft sheen. Has original gold tone wood liner. Rounded edges on the oak. Frame is circa 1900– 1910. The gesso carving is in pretty good condition– maybe a few minor pieces missing. None loose. The gesso carving is dusty– needs to be dusted. You could varnish the carving to bring out the detail. But I will leave that to you. Frame- only- NO CONTENTS. Original finish on the oak–minor discolorations in the oak and some superficial“use” scratches visible close-up. A few discolorations on the oak. Discolorations on the gold tone liner– see photo. All corners are tight– no spaces. No movement in the frame– each corner is pictured. Frame and glass weigh just about 6 pounds before any packing materials. Handsome small square antique oak wood and carved stand up mirror or picture frame. Measures 7 3/4" square- outside dimensions. And 4 7/8" square- inside dimensions, width of frame 1 1/2" and depth is 5/8" Wonderful small size. Wood is oak with very nice patina. Carving is actually an applied material of some sort. Perhaps a cast wax or something similar. It is hard and feels and looks like wood carving but I don't believe it is. Use your own judgement. I have seen this before on other antique frames. I believe this likely dates from the late 1800's to early 1900's. Condition: It is slightly off square. There is some slight movement when forced as you can tell by the narrow gaps at the mitered corners. Nothing major, however. The openings in the back are each approx 6"X8" Carved on top of the left frame is the name Preston W. Carved on top of the right frame is the name Mina B. In the lower middle are the initials JW and the year of 1908! This item came from a Macon County Amish family which relocated before I could obtain the origin and family history behind the names. Elegant Antique/Vintage Large Ornate Carved Oak Picture Frame with Period Watercolor Painting This auction is for a truly beautiful antique/vintage oak picture frame ca 1890-1910. The carved areas of the frame are framed themselves by solid boarders which gives this frame a rich aesthetic feel. The very inner portion of the frame has what I think is a thin gesso area which nicely compliments the larger areas of ornate carvings. The approximate outside dimensions are: 29 3/4" x 25 1/2" The approximate picture viewing area dimensions are: 19 1/2" x 15 1/2" The frame does have a few minor dings and a crack(upper right corner) Considering its age. It is in marvelous condition. The watercolor painting comes with the frame. It is signed by a Hazel Taylor of whom I am not familiar with. Beautiful oak carved frame -C2385
This is a beautiful oak carved frame. The glass and a rough wood back are in place. It has a provenance taped to the back. An 8" by 10" picture would fit in the frame. The frame itself measures 15" by 13" This includes the 1 1/2" piece that extends out from the frame. It's ready for your picture. This frame is in excellent condition. There is some variation in the color of the wood. Two of the decorative corners are glued on and the other two have a small nail holding them on. The nails are barely visible. The inner gold painted part of the frame gives it a varied gold color. The back is a piece of rough wood. Shipping weight is 3 lbs. We try to ship within 3 days of receiving cleared payment. Signed and hand carved wood picture frame. Has been broken. And repaired, see pics. From the front it is very difficult to see the repairs. On the front, some of the paint has flea-bite chips, can easily be addressed. The repairs were done with like 70's foam, it really works. Looks kinda sloppy on the back, but hold really well, you do not see foam from the front. It is an oak leaf pattern with acorns. The window opening would hold a 9 x 12 inch print. Or photo. The frame does have glass. Probably the original glass. Outer dimensions are about 14 1/4 x 9 3/4 inches. There is some old character to this frame. It looks like there are some tiny flakes of gold paint, so it was probably gold highlighted at one time. Fairly good vintage shape. GA Holmes CANT YOU TALK Vintage Large Hand Carved Oak Picture Frame Victorian
14 years ago. My mother-in-law came to live with us. Recently widowed, she left her house as it was, came to Oregon and said she was never going back home. We told her we would pack her house up, pack EVERYTHING, and bring here for her to sort through at her pleasure. Her house was much like a museum. She was an avid and well known antique dealer and collector in Los Angeles in the mid to later 1900's. We moved over 700 boxes of items from her house. Along with many pieces of furniture. 1 of her pieces has been on the Antique Road Show. I built a 7000 sq. foot building to accommodate all her collections. She never opened a box. She died about 7 years ago. And we have just begun the process of going through the boxes ourselves. It is an arduous process. Some items will go to concession dealers. Some are given away, some things donated, ... moresome are kept and some things are offered here. I used to write a bit of the history at the beginning of each ad. I have decided to write this, and when a bit of provenance fits, I will include this introduction. These items were collected many years ago by a very sweet and knowledgeable lady. Wish she was here to tell me about each item we offer, but, I am on my own, and will do my best to describe. This is a beautiful picture. In a gorgeous oak frame. I know a little about how the picture came to us, it was bought by my mother in law(see above) in an antique auction many years ago. She was an antique dealer, but bought this for her self. I am not a dealer. I have the task of sorting through her life's possessions. I wish she was here, but I waited too late to ask about the things we have stored for over 15 years.
