This is an outstanding frame and will compliment a fine piece of art or an antique porcelain plaque of the proper dimensions. It is in very good condition for its age with normal signs of wear. Very minimal losses at the back edges and corners and two nails exposed on the outside edge where the gesso popped off of them. Along the interior of the site edge there is a 2 3/8" long loss to the gesso that can be restored if you like. Offered for sale is this antique French hand carved wood wall picture frame. It decorated with flowers and leaves design. It has old picture of a lady in it. I opened up the framing and saw a interesting antique stock share holder paper backing the picture. It has a date but couldn't find the year on it, perhaps it has been cut off. The frame is in very good condition for age, it does have some minor chips on top of roses' petals, they are unnoticeable. I believe this is a late 19th century piece, possibly was from France. The backing thin oval shaped wood board is solid hard wood thin cut. The old hanging wire is rusty, I put a new one. The frame is 22-1/2"H x 13-3/4"W x1-3/4"Thickness. This a Beautiful Antique hand carved frame from around the turn of the Century. Early 1900's. With intricate sculpted Gesso laid on a hand carved wood frame. Opening measures 19 1/2"L x 15 1/2"H with a 5/8" mounting inset. Actual frame has a 4" width. The Filigree scroll pattern of this frame is very detailed, with the holes having been carved out by hand(there are visible tooling marks. At over a hundred years old there is plenty of genuine wear and character. But only lost gesso on one corner and an outer edge. No glass. Which i prefer as the Post has a habitual way of breaking things. All Vintage or Antique items are represented"as is" through age and use pieces may have acquired nicks, scratches, chips and cracks, which help to develop a preferred patina, but be aware that items are represented exactly, ... moreso make sure to carefully view the High def. images and ask any questions you may have. Antique hand carved wood picture frame 14x16 With 1881 CONFIRMATION CERTIFICATE
This listing is for an antique wood picture frame that contains an authentic 1881 Confirmation certificate. Both are used/pre-owned. Please read the Condition section for further details on how they grade. The Confirmation Certificate is in a foreign language which I believe to be German It is hand dated Mai 1. 1881(aka May 1, 1881) The certificate measures 9 and 1/2 inches by 11 and 1/2 inches. The certificate shows several dramatic religious images(see Scan 2) culminating with Our Lord, Jesus Christ, crucified on the cross at the center near the bottom. Though I can not read German, this is obviously a Christian religious certificate. There are two signatures just above Jesus on the cross, see Scan 4. One of those is most likely a priest and the other possibly could be a Bishop as Bishops normally preside over Confirmation ceremonies There ... moreis some small print under Jesus on the cross(see Scan 5) which reads" LITH.U.VERLAG V. LEOPOLD GAST, ST.LOUIS- 1628 SECOND CARONDELET AVENUE" and in really tiny print underneath that it reads" ENTERED ACCORDING TO ACT OF CONGRESS IN THE YEAR 1875 BY LEOPOLD GAST IN THE OFFICE OF THE LIBRARIAN OF CONGRESS AT WASHINGTON D.C. The picture frame's exact measurements are 14 and 1/2 inches by 16 and 1/2 inches. The photo area within the frame is 9 and 1/2 inches by 11 and 1/2 inches. The outer edge of the frame looks to be adorned with hand carved wood. See Scan 7. There are depressions along the frame's edge by design which have small circles inside them which looks to be how that edging is attached to the framework underneath. I am NOT an expert with picture frames. When I saw the 1881 certificate inside the frame. And the clamps on the back of the frame look like they have not been disturbed in decades, it is my presumption the frame is nearly as old as the certificate. if not older. The frame used to house an antique engraving, circa late 1800s. It is in fair as is condition with some minor surface chips, wear to the finish, miter separations at the corners. The inner part of the frame has a very nice continuous beaded pattern. The outer part of the frame has impressed design and another carved line dot pattern. The frame has its original patina of rich dark gilt gold. There is a nice triangular metal hook for hanging. The frame is approximately 11" square. There is a wood ledge on the underneath side original to the frame. The opening is 17.5 cm or approximately 6.9" square. Very good aged condition. There is no damage to carvings or missing pieces. This auction is for a very unique Antique wood frame that was hand carved and inlayed. This ornate carved wood has images of Basket or vessel at the top with Birds. Cherubs, Dragons and a flower design with vines and leaves running through out the entire piece. There is an oval opening for pictures or mosaic. I am not certain if this was originally made to hold a picture. It appears it could have been some sort of furniture end piece like a chair. Stool, piece of box or bench end. Due to it's depth, shape and feet. Measures: 11 3/4 H x 8 1/4" W x 1" D Oval opening is 6 1/2" x 6" The front of the frame has miner nics the back of the frame has nics and crevaces. This is a very nice quality pair of antique hand carved wood fin shaped table picture frames. they are a very nice size and carved into a lovely fin shape with a thick routed wood swirled base. they have routed oval openings to hold photos and have handmade wooden backings held by handmade metal clamp locks. the frames have a sheen finish and have acquired a lovely patina from age. each measures 11 3/4 inches tall by 11 1/2 inches wide. the oval openings measure 4 3/4 inches by 3 inches. they are in nice condition with normal ware from age. This is a stunning antique hand carved wood bald eagle picture frame. it is beautifully gilded in gold and is nicely carved with intricate detailing. it has two curved arms which hold the middle of the picture frame on each side. it pivots back and forth on the arms. the frame it topped with a detailed bald eagle finial and the base is nicely footed. the frame measures 9 inches tall by 8 1/2 inches wide. the opening measures 4 1/2 by 6 1/2 inches. it is in nice antique condition. Come cracking in the eagle from age buts gives a nice antique look.
