This is a very interesting Antique photo frame with English sterling silver front design on a dark blue velvet backing. This piece is hallmarked with the passant lion for 925/1000 sterling silver. The anchor mark for Birmingham England, and the date letter mark of a lower case( i) for the year 1908. The condition is as follows. The silver has some dings and dents especially around the central ring, the top cartouch is pushed in, the velvet on the front has some white polish dust. This piece would have originally had a filler backing to strengthen the sterling and this is a bit broke up now inside.Measures about 6 x 5 3/4 inches, the circular is 3 inches in diameter and there is no glass. Antique Adirondack Frame with English Cottage Print
This 10" x 12" charming piece reminds me of pictures I've seen photographed in old English houses. And although the print did not originally come with the frame, the Adirondack frame compliments the picture nicely. The frame, like most old things(including myself these days) does show some wear. There is a piece of the leaf missing in the lower left hand corner and the gold on the inside shows some discoloration. He has just caught a male pheasant bird as he brings it on point to his owner. As his plumed feathered tail stands out. Great hunting companion, known as* setting spaniels, for spotting game birds for hunters with nets. The dogs were taught to approach quietly and"set" sit or crouch- while the net was dropped over the birds. Later they were trained to point as gun dogs do today. This very vintage silverplate tabletop photo frame is missing its glass and backing. The listing is for the frame and metal stand only. This vintage silverplate photo frame was made in England in the early twentieth century. Likely during the Art Deco era, judging by its clean modern style and simple ball feet. As shown, it is missing the glass and backing for the frame, so they will need to be replaced. I stuck a vintage image of Queen Elizabeth II in the frame for display purposes, but it is not for sale in this listing. The frame has typical light scratching but minimal wear to the plate. And no dings or dents. One of the welded openings for the stand on the back of the frame is a different shape than the other, and I don't know if this is original to the frame or a repair. ANTIQUE ENGLISH STERLING AESTHETIC FIGURAL ROSES & VELVET PICTURE FRAME*BRIDAL!*
This is a SUCH A RARE find! It is a ONE of a kind. Antique late 19th century English sterling silver Aesthetic period picture frame that has totally been refurbished and restored. In all my 20+ years in the antique business, I have never seen a more beautiful sterling frame. It measures a large 14" tall and 10.5" across and about 2" thick. The garland of figural sterling roses and leaves are gorgeous! Each rose bloom is between 1.25" and 1.5" in diameter and sticks out from the frame about 1" There is a folded silver ribbon at the bottom and two crossed stems. One stem is hallmarked with the British"passant lion" for sterling, the"O" letter mark for 1889, the"lion face" for London, and the maker mark"JD WD" for John& William Deakin of London. The silver garland alone ... moreweighs over 14 troy ounces when it is removed from the backing. The garland is held to the back with three threaded posts that end in hand made sterling silver wing bolts(holding the frame together) The frame weighs a heavy 3.7 pounds. Ok. Here is the history of the restoration. I had the sterling silver garland cleaned, polished and lacquered so it will not tarnish. All the leaves and blooms are there. The original velvet was not salvageable, so I found and bought this"champagne pink" ANTIQUE French silk(cotton backed) velvet from a dealer in NY. The silk velvet was"old stock" that is over 100 years old, found in a NY warehouse, on the original bolt, stored for years. It has a few very light marks from age, but it is in excellent, beautiful condition. I had the original wooden back and easel professionally covered with this velvet. The pink is a very soft, subtle, dusty rose color, and it feels so wonderful to hold. The secondary fabric inside and on the inside of the easel is a complementary pink silk taffeta. Antique silk pictures in brass frames 1900-1940 English
I have never seen anything quite like these. 2 round brass frames with what I am assuming are silk pictures. Frames are solid brass and are marked as such. One frame has some markings which I think would come out. The smaller frame is missing its cover which I think is an easy fix. The larger one measures 7 1/2 inches and the other is 6 inches, Ones picture is a wind mill and the other a seaside village. Colors are really pretty. Happy to answer questions.
