It is a beautiful countryside with a Dutch windmill and barn next to the water's edge. A sa ilboat is out in the water. The grass is tall along side th e path. It's very difficult to find one of these paintings without some flaking or damage. There is a spot in the middle of one barn that I originally thought was fog. I didn't even realize the painting was missing as you see the cardboard backing. It can be touched up or even substitu te a darker piece of paper behind it and you won't even notice it. There was really old tape on the back of the frame that I removed. The glass and backing need to be ta ped back into the faux tiger eye frame. Description: This auction for a Barbour Silver Co. silver plate picture frame. This picture frame is in very good condition with some light scratches. The frame measures 13 3/8" tall and 9 3/4" wide. The base of the frame is marked as pictured below with the Barbour Silver Co. maker's mark and 3465. Information on Barbour Silver Despite the great interest in Barbour silver- many people own it. Apparently- information on its history is sketchy. Here's what researchers at the Connecticut Historical Society uncovered: In 1881 or 1882. Samuel Barbour moved from Chicago to New Haven, Conn. where he and his brother Charles joined in forming the Barbour Brothers Co. At this point, they were only marketers of silverplate products made by I. J. Steane& Co. of Hartford. But the brothers were operating in Hartford by no later than ... more1889, since the Geer's city directory for that year contains the listing, Barbour Bros. Co. silverplated ware mfgs. 64 Market St. Market Street, located downtown, has been altered greatly since then. In 1892. A decade or so after its formation, the brothers' original partnership was succeeded by the Barbour Silver Co. which also succeeded Steane& Co. The 1889 edition of the Geer's city directory has a listing for"Barbour Silver Co. Pair Antique 19th Century Dutch German Geometric Painted Woodgrain Finish Frames
This is a very cool looking pair of antique late 19th-century Dutch or German geometric painted woodgrain finish frames. The three dimensional aspect of these frames is quite intriguing. I believe these are particularly rare. Especially to find a pair. Overall. Each measures 19.25" x 21.75" 48.9 cm x 55.25 cm) Their back opening size is 14.5" x 17" 36.83 cm x 43.18 cm) The molding widths vary. At the center of each side it is just under 2" 5.08 cm) Around the corners the molding is wider and measures 2 5/8" 6.67 cm) Unlike late 19th century American frames where the wood is covered in white gesso and then faux grainwood painted. These are covered in a dark gray gesso and then faux painted. So where there are chips to the finish, a dark gray comes through. And there are numerous chips. It would be impossible for ... moreme to point out all of them. So please look closely at the photos to get a feel of the damage. I've seen frames like these in the past, and they always have many chips on them. But the overall look of this pair is really beautiful. They each have their original wavy glass. Oddly enough. One weighs 3 lbs. 13.8 oz. 1.754 kg) and the other weighs 4 pounds 4.3 ounces(1.936 kg) I think one may have a thicker and heavier piece of glass than the other, because the frames themselves are identical. This is a very large mid 19thC ebonized American ebonized dutch ripple frame. This is the ripple style i call'snakeskin' as the ripple patterns in the molding are alternating instead of opposite.a much more unusual style. Rare very large size measuring 30 3/4 x 36 with a rabbet of 26 1/4 x 31 3/8 and resizeable. ANTIQUE DUTCH BLACK AND WHITE PICTURE IN A FRAME OF A EUROPEAN TOWN. The very old and very neat wooden framed photo measures nearly seven inches in height and more than nine inches in width. The picture is what I believe to be a Dutch town in Holland but I am not 100% sure. It came out of an estate in a Historic part of West Palm Beach and that is what I was told. There is a large Windmill in the middle of the picture. A sign on the front of the building on the left says something"Cacao" something. The building second from the right in the picture has a sign on it the reads"Behangerli en Stoffeerbern" It looks like. The Historic buildings in the picture are very old and unique and have a great deal of character. There are extremely interesting people placed throughout this picture also. Huge 24" Diameter Antique Pyrography Burnt Wood Flemish Dutch Girl Portrait 1903
We are offering for auction a large antique pyrography or burnt wood profile portrait of a young Dutch lady or Flemish woman in a bonnet. The back is signed and dated: Alice Paine Roff Aug 18. 1903. She is hand painted which really distinguishes her from the burnt wood background of windmills and tulips. There is another identifying label stuck on the back which states what this is and a price of $195 or $125. Not sure of the relevance so I left it attached. It measures 24" in diameter. Antique Dutch Style Rippled Wavy Carved Frame 10 5/8 X 15 3/4 Opening
This is a very good looking antique Dutch style ripple/ wavy carved frame. I would estimate it dates from the 1920s. Overall. It measures 19 1/2 inches x 24 7/8 inches(49.5 cm x 63.2 cm) The back opening size is 10 5/8 inches x 15 3/4 inches(27 cm x 40 cm) The molding is very wide at just under 5 inches(12.4 cm) The frame is very thick at 1 3/4 inches(4.5 cm) I'm convinced this frame is European for two reasons. First. Its design. Second, the dimensions are exact in centimeters which usually distinguishes a European frame. I'm not sure what type of wood was used. But it's quite beautiful. I'm sensing it's oak, though. The wavy/rippled site edge and outer rim design is made of carved wood. There are wood slats holding the inner sections of the frame together for reinforcement and nails on the outside. Structurally. It's ... morevery sound. As you can see in the photos. The corners don't line up exactly, so there's some space there. This was either due to shrinkage or it was originally cut a little off. There are a few light nicks around the edges. There is one small chip out of the top right corner(please see photo) But nothing that takes away from the overall look of the frame. The patina just can't be beat. It's a beautiful. Rich color. There is no glass. It was definitely made by a skilled framemaker. It would be great for an old oil painting. Drawing, folk art work, sampler, fraktur, silhouette, etc. It weighs a hefty 8 lbs. 1 oz. 3.66 kg) It has what I always look for in frames. That wonderful old world look!

Where the art of chip carving has been perfected over many generations comes this Frisian circular frame custom fitted with a saucer and measuring 9 1/4" the bevelled display opening is 4" across. Well carved with geometric patterns traditionally found in Dutch chip carving. The frame comes with its original hanger and holds a scalloped oriental china saucer fastened with nails.
