Measures 32" Tall and is x 27 3/4" wide. opening in the back for your picture. Print, etc. is 16" wide by 20" tall. This beautiful frame is in four layers of oak and gorgeous gold gesso measuring a bit over 5" wide all around. Great condition with one small spot about 3/4" of gold flecked off on bottom right hand corner can see in pic, could be touched up easily. Not distracting at all, This is in very good condition for most that Ive seen in this size. Glass is in perfect condition with no chips or cracks. Up for your consideration is this very nice old frame that I purchased at an estate/consignment auction. It is around 30" X 24 3/4" outside and around 19 1/2" X 15 1/2" inside needlepoint? I don't know how old it is and think the needle point(not sure of sewing type) may have been added at a later time. It is soft/spongy to the touch and I would think it would have hardened over time if it was very old. Front of the frame is very nice but the back appears to show its age. There is no glass. I can't find any condition issues except for the wire that is broken. Shipping costs have been rising significantly. If I list a shipping cost and the item is shipped for less than billed(over $1 less) I will refund the difference. I require insurance on any purchase over $100. Lovely Old Frame. From the 1840's. Unique layered construction, outer Gold Gesso Edge applied to the frame, then that is attached to what constitutes the built in matte, then is the actual picture area. There is a little damage to the gesso edge, one leaf is broken off and two spots of minor edge damage. In order to remove the glass the entire frame must be deconstructed. 29 1/2" x 26" Exterior. 17 1/4" x 14 1/2" image area. The Partial Paper on the back of the frame identifies this piece from a Fine Art Gallery that once resided at 422 Wood Street. Pittsburgh. I am unable to identify the name of the proprietor. The address is a recently renovated historical district in Pittsburgh. The art that was framed within was dated 1847. This item will ship FEDEX. So I will need a street address, No PO Boxes. Selling an antique tramp art/ folk art/ outsider art hand carved chip carved picture frame c 1880-1910. Size is approximately 12" wide by 15 1/4" tall plus the old metal loop for hanging at the top of the frame. Opening for picture is about 9" wide by 11 3/4" tall. This nicely detailed tramp art antique frame is entirely hand carved and is constructed in chip carved layers of four layers. The iron loop at the top for hanging the frame from a nail appears original. Display the frame as is on a solid wall with the old glass and the early litho print. Tramp Art was woodworking where small pieces of wood, primarily from discarded cigar boxes and shipping crates, were carved/ whittled into layers of geometric shapes having the outside edges of each layer notch carved. It was popular in the years between the 1870s to the early 1930s when the art form declined due to World War II. The craftsmen used simple tools such as a pocketknife to carve the wood and assemble mostly utilitarian objects. Tramp art was popular in Germany, Austria, German areas of Switzerland and the United States, and some of the finest examples were made in the Black Forest(Schwartzwald) of Germany. The most common forms were the box and the picture frame and although there were no rules or patterns to lend commonality in the artists’ work there were objects made in every conceivable shape and size including full sized furniture and objects of whimsy. Tramp Art was a democratic art form made where the raw materials used in its construction were found. Antique 1879 Can't You Talk Dog Cat Baby Print Gold Gilt Oak Gesso 4 Layer Frame
This is a fantastic original 1879 chromolithograph print of"Can't You Talk" in which a young child is awaiting a response from her collie under the close eye of her cat. The color. Condition, and quality of the print are very good with no obvious damage except for a very small, unnoticeable tear, and a slight crease toward the bottom, which is almost invisible. I don't see any staining, foxing, or other tears or creases. The frame also looks very good and is all original and nearly 100% complete(except for a few touch-ups) with alternating layers contoured oak and ornate gold gilt gesso patterns. The gold areas have acquired a darkened. Aged patina, and there are a few chips in the gesso that have been concealed with matching paint. All four corners of the frame have a very slight gap, but there is absolutely no looseness. ... moreThe glass is original and has some gorgeous character to it including waves, many tiny bubbles, a few tiny lumps, and one large bubble(over 1" L and almost 1/4" W! The wooden back panel has been replaced by cardboard and is held in by newer nails. The outer measurements of the frame are 20 1/4" W x 22 1/4" H and the print measures 10" W x 12" H. It will be packed very well. Double boxed, and insured during shipping.

You are looking at an excellent example of an early Folk Art Tramp Art frame found in the Transylvania region of Old Europe. It is believed to be from the late 1800's or early 1900's. It is very unique and a wonderful large size of 14" x 16" with an opening of approximately 8.5" x 10.5" It is a solid frame with chunky 4 layers; each measuring over 1/4 inches; and great patina.
