Large Antique Pine Victorian Picture Frame 18" x 24"
Large antique pine picture frame from the Victorian era(late 1800s) The frame is fairly ornate for an ordinary pine frame. It fits an approx 18 x 24 1/8 inch print or painting. Its exterior dimensions are approx 23 x 29 inches and it is 1 3/8 inches high. The frame has been restored. Including refinishing of the pine, and is in very good condition. It has a 1/4 inch piece missing at the upper right corner as shown on the 1st photo as well as several minor, dings, scratches etc, as typically seen on frames of this age. It is being shipped without glass.

LARGE GOLD TONE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN WOOD FRAME WITH GESSO CARVING. 28 inches by 34 inches, measured from the outside. An impressive frame that needs very little restoration. Gold tone finish on the frame– probably not gold leaf– the finish may be original. Or if not, was redone many, many years ago. The finish seems almost a little dull– not the crispness you see with gold leaf. Frame is circa 1880– 1910’s. Details: Frame weighs about 9– 10 pounds before any packing materials. No glass. No backing. Frame only. A little gesso is missing and there are some cracks in the gesso at the corners of the frame. Some discolorations and dark spots on the gold tone finish. Corners don’t wiggle– frame seems tight. No loose pieces of carving. Two small spaces on corners of the very inside liner. Near where the contents would be– no wiggle at any of the corners, ... moreso the space is maybe from a little missing gesso. MEASUREMENTS: INSIDE OPENING measurements are just over 18 inches by 24 inches. Frame can be used horizontally or vertically. ALL SALES FINAL. Antique Oval Picture Frame - Gold - USA - Eagle - Flags - 24.5" X 18.5" Military
Up for bids is what I personally think is a really nice antique oval picture frame. It measures 24 1/2" tall. And 18 1/2" wide. It is painted gold and has an Eagle on top with a ribbon that reads USA. On the bottom are a pair of Crossed Flags. Which leads me to believe this probably had some kind of military photo or reverse painting in it originally. Probably with a convex glass, possibly a family member from the civil war, or something of that kind. The inside dimensions are 18 3/4" X 12 3/4" while the dimensions where the glass and picture would have gone is 19 3/4" X 13 3/4" With a little TLC this would be an awesome piece.

The entire frame measures 21 3/4 x 27 1/2 ins.the rabbet is about 1/4 in. This originally had a 1940s portrait that I have sold, so I would date it to the 1940s, to very early 1950s time period. Measures 27 x 33 ins. in total size, and the inner rabbet is 18 3/16th x 24 3/16th ins with molding about 5 ins. wide.A 18 x 24 painting will fit in here. It appears to be carved wood, not resin or composite, real wood. It also has compo or as some people say gesso ornamentation on the surround. It has a reddish bole or paint underlay, gold and whitewash overlay. The frame is very solid and heavy. This is an older but well loved large painting or artwork frame. The frame has been made so the print sticks out away from the wall by 2" see pictures) The frame is made of a lightweight wood and does have some color variation and rough marks giving it a rustic Shabby Chic style. The finish is a dark stain all over. The stain is darker in some areas than others. The frame is 2 1/2 inches thick. The sides are 2 1/2 inches wide. There is not the inner linen inner layer many artist use for their artwork. The rabbet depth and width is 1/4 inch.
