Antique Ornate Gold Picture Frame - 16 1/2 x 12 1/8"
This is a lovely old frame that I found at an estate sale. It is just 1/2" too large for the picture I purchased it for so it will be a great bargain for someone who can use it. It has a piece of mat with a canvas finish that had been cut to fit which I plan to leave in place. It will be very carefully wrapped for shipping which will had somewhat to the weight. Weighed on my kitchen scale it is 4 lb. 5 oz. I estimate secure shipping will add another 2 lbs. This is a beautiful vintage Dutch or Barbizon or Baroque ornate gold frame. It's called various different names on eBay so I've included them all. It dates circa 1930s or 1940s. Overall it measures 15 1/2 inches x 19 1/2 inches(39.4 cm x 49.5 cm) The back opening size is 12 1/8 inches x 16 1/8 inches(30.8 cm x 41 cm) The molding width measures 1 7/8 inches(4.8 cm) The detail on this frame is really lovely and the gold and red colors are just beautiful. It's made of wood with applied composition decoration. Though it does look like a hand carved frame. It's well-made and in great shape. It was definitely made by a skilled and talented framemaker at a good studio. Names such as Newcomb Macklin and Foster Brothers come to mind. 19th century three-level. Ebonized walnut. Carved, Eastlake frame with original Miller Family photograph dated 1823 with glass. Outer level is ebonized deep-well walnut. Middle inner level is painted burl wood finish with incised corners. Bottom level is stenciled silver leaf. Circa mid19th century Overall. Frame measures 20.5" high x 16.5" wide x 3" deep. The back opening size is 16.5" x 12" Three-level molding is 3" wide. Some scuffs and a small spot of finish loss outer walnut. Middle, right side. Antique Art Deco Nouveau Era Pewter Wood Frame 13" x 17" opening (12 x 16) Old
Great antique frame. Not too fancy, all wood, in a sort of distressed dark pewter color. Can't decide if it is more Art Nouveau or Deco but this frame is very od. The opening in the back is 13 x 17 so it would be great for a 12 x 16 item which would need to be matted. Actual frame is roughly 19.5" x 15.5" It's nice that this is an old frame with some detail but is not gesso which is way too delicate and chips. Has ring on top of it too which is a nice touch. A large old black and white photograph would look great inside of this. I think I can state that it is in very good condition. Its antique so it's not perfect. If you want a perfect frame then you can easily buy one new. Made to order. I see no major damages. However, its being sold as is. See my other items for sale. Ship
