Antique Victorian Neo-Classical Etched Crystal Glass Wine Decanter c1880 This is for an antique Victorian Neo-Classical etched crystal glass wine decanter. Circa 1880. Made of fine quality crystal glass, of Neo-Classical ovoid form, with a tall slender neck, terminating with a tri-foil lip, with its original faceted ovoid stopper, on a circular support. The body is etched with two concentric bands of Greek-key and foliage. The neck is cut with a tapering facets, and the underside is cut with a radiating star. This decanter measures 258 mm in height and 83 mm in width. It weighs 333 grams. The condition is generally excellent, without damage or repair, there are no chips or cracks, the glass does have light surface scratches, which is the patina of age. Please see images. Seven Victorian, fern-etched wine glasses
This is what we believe to be a group of seven. Victorian, similarly etched, lead glass, wine glasses dating from the period of pteridomania( a craze for ferns) in the late 19th century. The glasses are in excellent condition. This means. Of course, that they show age related wear and tear consistent with age and use. The glasses are of two forms. All decorated with the same pattern. Four are ovoid bowled and three are cup shaped. The former measure as follows- bowl diameter 5.2 cm(2.1 inches) foot diameter 5.7 cm(2.3 inches) height 12.4 cm(4.1 inches) The latter measure as follows- bowl diameter 5.7 cm(2.3 inches) foot diameter 5.7 cm(2.3 inches) height 11.7 cm(3.9 inches) All of the glasses are decorated with stylised ferns and are part of the same set. On offer today I have an elegant and beautifully proportioned late Victorian/ Edwardian tall wine glass The bowl has a band of oval lenses around the middle and the base of the bowl has a ring of petal lenses which then run down the baluster stem as facet cuts. A pair of very good quality early to mid Victorian Green Wine Glasses see my other listing( 231010624306) They each have 7 oval headed facet cut panels on the bowl that start from the 7 facet cut inverted baluster knop stem which in turn leading down to conical feet that have ground& polished pontil depressions to the otherwise flat underside. These glasses are UV reactive and react beautifully when lit up under UV. The condition of both is excellent. There are no cracks or chips. There are the odd integral bubbles in keeping with the glass blowing techniques of the period& with virtually no signs of wear. Set of Four Late Victorian Iridescent Green Bowled Pan Wine Glasses
This is a set of stunning high quality pan wine glasses. Probably dating to between 1880 and 1890. The capacious rounded bowl is made from green glass with an iridescent finish. There is a collar at the base of the bowl. Leading down to a plain flint glass stem and plain, flat foot. Just below the rim of the glass and around the edge of the foot is a ring of fine white enamel dots. The rim of the glasses is gilded and the bowls bear the remains of an intricate gilded pattern. There are also the remains of two concentric gilded rings at the edge of the foot. Each glass has a height of approximately 12.1cm. With a diameter at the rim of about 7.8cm and across the foot of about 6.5cm. There may be minor discrepancies in the dimensions due to the handmade nature of the glasses. A Victorian Crystal Glass Wine Decanter Cross Cut Diamond Pattern c1880
An antique late 19th century Victorian period decanter. It is of good quality manufacture and is in the manner of the Oslers factory of Birmingham. The body is of amphora shape and all-over cut with the cross-cut diamond pattern which gives superb sparkle. The foot has been petal cut and the neck is slice cut with notches down the edges. It come with matching cut stopper which is probably original. The decanter was probably intended for wine originally. But is would also make a good spirit decanter. It holds a standard bottle of wine and would be fine to use today. A Superb Antique Victorian Bristol Blue Claret Wine Jug-Ornate Handle & Stopper
This superb Antique Victorian Bristol Blue Claret or Wine Jug dates I believe to around 1880 or thereabouts. It has a Silver Plated Handle. Collar and Stopper, which over the years the Silver Plate has become worn, but this is still beautiful as is, with the detail crisp. The Glass is in wonderful. Undamaged condition, free from chips or cracks and with the only signs of wear commensurate with age and use being some remnants of Silver Plate cleaner to the inside and a few very minor air bubbles which were present during the production process. The Handle and Stopper are attractive and ornate. The Claret Jug stands approximately 10.5 inches high to the top of the Stopper and it measures around 5 inches across from the lip to the back of the handle. The Jug weighs approximately 641 grams. And it will make a wonderful Antique addition to any ... moresimilar collection. Any minimal signs of wear. Although they are not marked(signed) I believe they are English and date to the late 1880's-90's The one shown in the second photo above has 7 round flat cuts around the base of the bowl and has a gadget mark on the bottom of the foot. It is approximately 4 inches(103mm) high. 2 inches(51mm) diameter and weighs 3oz(85 grams) The next wine glass shown in the third photo down has 10 oval flat cuts one third of the way up the bowl and has a ground and polished pontil mark on the foot. Here we have lovely examples of mid to late Victorian hand blown glass. A pair of trumpet bowl wine glasses on a plain foot with a gadget mark on the base. The gadget was a tool used for a short period from about 1860 to 1890 to hold the glass whilst it was being made. The tool was to replace the pontil and pontil iron and has a distinctive"Y" or"J" impression on the base of the foot. Sometimes accompanied with two lines on the top of the foot. These two glasses were made either for a pub(public house) or for the less well off to use. They are charming. Cheap, simple yet elegant form. There is quite a lot of wear marking to the base. ... moreThe glasses have tooling marks and have some bubble inclusions. They are of a slightly differnet size and colour. They measure approximately 3 3/4 inches high. 1 3/4 inches diameter at the rim and have a base diameter of 2 inches. They are in very good order. They weigh 171g unpacked. A Set of 6 Antique Cut Glass Rummers or Wine Goblets - Victorian c1890
A nice set of 6 rummer type goblets. They are antique and date to the late 19th century around 1890 and copy the style of earlier Anglo-Irish style glasses from around 1820. The generous bowls make for large red wine glasses. Or of course they can be used for ale or even spirits. The bowls are cut with diamonds and an upper band of oval lenses. The short stems are knopped and the feet are conical and have star cutting. Nice traditional style goblets which are fine to use today and versatile with the large bowl size. Lead glass construction. Antique Victorian Baluster Stem Faceted Bowl Wine Glass C 1850 Antique 19th C Baluster Stem Faceted Bowl Wine Glass. Offered for sale with no reserve! Here we have a lovely example of hand blown glass. A faceted round funnel bowl. It is on a plain foot with a ground pontil on a baluster stem. There is quite a lot of wear marking to the base. The glass has tooling marks I think it dates from around 1850, the shape of this glass is similar to others of that period. It measures 4 3/4 inches high. 2 inches diameter and has a base diameter of 2 1/2 inches. It is in very good order. It weighs 123g unpacked.
