The body of long, conical form with handle. Richly carved in the clay, this is an excellent example. On the low side 3 seals showing the Saxon royal coat of arms. Beneath a figure of Alexander and dated 1589. The higher side decorated with the Cologne coat of arms. The V&A in London has several similar examples. SIEGBURG STONEWARE FUNNEL BEAKER NEAR ORIGINAL REPRODUCTION 1980s Here on offer is a very authentic reproduction of 16th century Siegburg funnel beaker(Trichterbecher) Made in the 1980s by master potter Rolf Krämer at Schloss Burg near Wuppertal/Germany. Finely turned, it bears an application with a finely shaped female figure and named and dated LUCRETIA and 1596. The beaker is made from near white Siegburg stoneware clay as used for the finest stoneware bellarmines and vessels in the 16th century. Turned on a foot-driven potters disc and obviously decorated using a mould taken fom an original of the 16th c. for the application. As well fired at high temperature, this beaker is very near to the original! To distinguish this reproduction from a fake this items is marked underneath with"Landsknecht" ... moreThe potters workshop mark. So not to be confused with form-pressed souvenir beakers.
