Gilt Bronze Raised Profile of Lord Nelson in Hard Wood Frame
This gilt bronze miniature is unusual in that it is a raised profile in a wood frame. It dates to the late 19th century and has the original red backing. It has nice weight and great detail. It is a depiction of L ord Nelson. The famed British opponent of Napoleon. He is mounted on a period velvet backing. Horatio Nelson. 1st Viscount Nelson, KB(29 September 1758– 21 October 1805) was a flag officer famous for his service in the Royal Navy, particularly during the Napoleonic Wars. He was noted for his inspirational leadership and superb grasp of strategy and unconventional tactics, which resulted in a number of decisive naval victories. He was wounded several times in combat, losing one arm and the sight in one eye. Vintage or Antique Brass French Picture Frame With Old Photo Gilt Gold - Chic!
This is really neat! It's an old vintage. Possibly antique but I'm unsure how to tell it's age, picture frame, marked'Made In France' on the back. I think it's brass with gold gilt, but I'm not sure- you'll have to look at the pictures and judge for yourself. p It's got an interesting easel back, and also has an intriguing old black and white photo of a girl in it, which looks like it might have another photo underneath, but I've not taken it apart to find out- I'll leave that mystery up to its new owner. The glass is there, but it does have a small crack on the right side- you can see it in the pictures, to the right of the photograph. It has exquisite detailing, and a pretty French bow on top. Victorian German Reverse Printed Glass in Wood & Gold Gilt Floral Gesso Frame
This is a fantastic antique framed reverse printed glass picture with the German words"Ich und Mein haus wollen dem Herrn dien" printed in gold. Translated into English. It means"I and my house we will serve the Lord" The glass and printing are excellent. The background is black and there is a border of flowers, leaves, and vines in bright shiny gold, and iridescent coral and turquoise. The words are written in gold. The frame has several layers of wood with contrasting floral patterns made of gesso. The innermost border in the frame is painted gold, and the two patterned borders in the middle are brown and match the medium brown stained smooth outer border. One of the middle borders is missing about half of its gesso, so smooth stained wood is visible about halfway around. You can see where the gesso is missing in the ... morephotos. I think the frame still looks very good considering the damage and can be used as-is or repaired. The rest of the frame is in very good condition, all corners are tight, there is little wear except some minor scratches and scuffs due to age, and the wood panel, screw eyes, and hanging wire are all intact on the back. The outer measurements of the frame are 18 3/4" x 21 3/4" and the glass measures 14" x 11" I will wrap the picture very well, double box it, and insure it during shipping.

Antique Maine? 1860 Forest & Sea Landscape~Oil Painting~Deep Ebonized Gilt Frame
Beautiful oil on board of forest on a cliff overlooking the sea. Stone steps lead up the hill through the pines. I have had many people remark that this reminds them of Maine. But it may be from elsewhere.the hills in the distance might provide a better locator to where this was painted. I've always loved the verticality of the trees and steps in the picture. Combined with the tall proportions of the frame. The deep frame gives a sense of looking through a window on this beautiful scene. The ebonized wood of the frame plays beautifully off the deep iron green of the pines. The frame dates to the 1860s-1890s. Nice tinting on the dresses and curtains. 9" X10 3/4" X 2 1/2" Gilt Frame has some damage mainly on one corner. Looks like it fell off the wall at one time. I am sure this frame is very repairable. Still very displayable as. Except for the crack in one corner, none of the damage is visible when hung. The crystoleum. From"crystal" +"oleum" oil) process was a method of applying colour to an albumen print. Popular from c. 1880– c. 1910. An albumen print was pasted face down to the inside of a concave piece of glass. Once the adhesive(usually starch paste or gelatin) was dry. The paper backing of the print was rubbed away, ... moreleaving only the transparent emulsion on the glass. The image was then coloured by hand, using oil paints.
