c1880 VICTORIAN Art Glass EPERGNE Blue w/Enamel DAISIES Click Images to Enlarge Offered for your consideration is this lovely Victorian art glass single horn epergne. I have not determined the maker but my thought is perhaps Bohemian-any help appreciated. The glass is bright blue decorated with enameled daisies and painted gold foliage. This piece is 16 3/4" high overall. 7" across at the crimped and ruffled top rim, 11" across at the bowl and 5 1/2 at the base. The bottom has an open pontil and is signed"8" The end of the horn is marked but hard to read. The epergne is in very good estate condition with no chips, cracks or restorations noted. There is some minor roughness on the end of the horn and a bit of leftover soil at the bottom(should be an easy clean up)see enlarged photos to evaluate. It is very beautifully and finely decorated in raised enamel and gold/ silver gilding with a cuckoo(with head raised to call) in a branch of prunus blossom of wonderful composition and of the finest museum quality. This vase is very unusual; it is glass but is decorated to look like a Greek teracotta vase- the base is white glass and the burnt orange is painted on top. The gladiator is painted in enamel paint so has a slightly raised effect like a cameo. The vase is in perfect condition and measures 21 cm in height and 10 cm in diameter. THE GREEN GLASS BODY OF THE VASES IS DECORATED WITH A WIDE BAND OF GILDING WHICH ITSELF HAS RAISED RELIEF DECORATION RUNNING AROUND IT OF WHITE CIRCLES INTERSPERSED WITH SHORT VERTICAL LINES. Antique Silver Mercury Glass This is a lovely pair of decorative mercury glass with polished and matte silver fields raised with delicate hand painted enamel raised flowers. I am a bit puzzled. I was told they are candlestick Holders for thin tapered candles. I also think may have been bottles with missing stoppers or even delicate bud vases. The bottoms have holes that do not go all the way through, so they will hold water or liquids. They measure about 6.5" high and the bases measure about 2-3/4" across. The top portion is clear glass. Centers are matte silver and the round bases are shiny polished mercury glass. The openings are about 1/2 of an inch in diameter. They are in very nice condition with no chips. Cracks or repairs. Rare George Bacchus Vitrified Enamel Opal Glass Vase - Victorian Antique c.1850
A rare mid 19th Century opal glass vase by the celebrated factory of George Bacchus. It is of classical amphora form with circular foot and everted rim. The vase features an Etruscan scene which is repeated to both sides and in between are a winged figure and a lady holding a rabbit or perhaps a hare. The vase is a Vitrified Enamel Colours example and it has the Bacchus mark in a banner to the underside base. The glass shows fiery opal colours when held up to the light. It also has gilt rings around the rim. Shoulders and foot. A similar but slighter larger example can be found in the Victoria and Albert museum collection. An Antique Bohemian Black Glass and Relief Enamel Vase with Roses
A late 19th century Victorian period vase. It is produced in black glass which is opaque and features a pedestal style foot and upturned rim. The vase is unmarked but typical of Bohemian production made for export around the 1870-90 period. The vase is hand painted with floral subjects including rose buds and lily-of-the-valley. The enamel is done in high relief giving a textured effect. The reverse of the vase is left plain. The vase has a high gloss finish to the black ground. To the underside of the foot there is a painted number'8' Probably a decoraters number. Exquisitely decorated with a raised enamel and gilt latticeware pattern. A particularly delicate and pretty design is in that the lattice pattern has tiny dots of enamel at each inter-section partly done on the outside and partly on the inside. Description This antique late 19th century Victorian Arts& Crafts Stourbridge art glass pepperette. Is hand blown in clear crystal glass of double gourd form. The surface is decorated with very fine trailed green glass line, tightly spiralled around the piece from the top to the bottom. It has a beautiful white enamel script'Pepper' to the front and the base is finely ground and polished flat. There is a silver plated collar to the neck and is fitted with push fit silver plated lid. The lid has a small ball finial and star pattern of pierced holes with engraved rings to the edges. This gorgeous little piece is marked to the side of the lid'EPNS' for Electro Plated Nickel Silver and is in good antique condition. It has some tiny flea bites to the enamel and a small group of flea bites to the green trailed lines(just above ... morethe'R' of pepper) the top of the lid has wear to the plating with some minor pitting(please see photos) Height 7.7cm. 3" unpacked weight 60 grams. The PLATTER upon which it sits is an octogon shape and measures 10-1/2 inches across and has the same motif on the rim. In addition. This auction is for a wonderful and very unusual quality piece of Victorian art glass. It has a beautifully hand applied foliage design in pink. Blue and green enamel with a pale pink flower swag running around the body. I would describe the glass colour as an opaque satin white with a peach over coloured stem. This piece has a satin glass surface and gold gilt edged base and top rim detail. The base clearly shows a hot snapped pontil mark. It's style and design if typical of it's period and would date this piece firmly to circa 1840s. Although much of this decorated glassware is called"Bristol" glass. Is of balaster shape and is hand painted with enamel flowers and fauna. It is hand blown and has a polished pontil mark on the bottom of the base. For sale is a Victorian Bohemian clear Mary Gregory drinking glass with a hand painted white enamel scene of a boy playing with a branch; the glass has gold applied to the rim and there is some loss of the paint. This early Mary Gregory glass has a smoothe pontil and is in perfect antique condition: No cracks. Chips, or repairs. Just air bubbles and several minute pits in the glass, all part of being manufacturing more than a hundred years ago. The glass is 3 5/8" high and 2 1/4" across the top.
