Antique Victorian Neo-Classical Etched Crystal Glass Wine Decanter c1880 This is for an antique Victorian Neo-Classical etched crystal glass wine decanter. Circa 1880. Made of fine quality crystal glass, of Neo-Classical ovoid form, with a tall slender neck, terminating with a tri-foil lip, with its original faceted ovoid stopper, on a circular support. The body is etched with two concentric bands of Greek-key and foliage. The neck is cut with a tapering facets, and the underside is cut with a radiating star. This decanter measures 258 mm in height and 83 mm in width. It weighs 333 grams. The condition is generally excellent, without damage or repair, there are no chips or cracks, the glass does have light surface scratches, which is the patina of age. Please see images. An early 19th century drinking glass rummer engraved with Ulster Loyalist slogans of the Orange Order. An early 1800's wine glass with domed foot. broken pontil mark and round knopped stem. A finely engraved image of William III on horseback on one side with the slogan The Glorious Memory Of King William and No Surrender below. On the reverse Boyne 1st July 1690 T.C S.C. A fine example of a 19th century loyalist drinking glass with obvious connections to the Orange Order Grand Lodge of Ireland. Probably engraved by Franz Tieze. The master engraver/ master forger. Dublin 1842- 1932. An early 19th century, possibly late 18th century with later engraving. In good condition. Approx 6.5" high with a bowl dia of approx. 2.75" Interesting 19th century political statement drinking glass offered with NO RESERVE Apologies for quality ... moreof the pictures- its really difficult to capture the quality and detail of the engraving. Franz Tieze(1842–1932) was a late 19th century Dublin-based forger. An exiled Bohemian glass engraver. He worked in Dublin in the studios of the Pugh Brothers(Thomas and Richard Pugh) at The Potters Alley Glass Works, the only manufacturers of flint-glass in Ireland.1] Tieze had been recruited, with other Bohemian glass engravers, by the Pugh Brothers and he arrived in Dublin in 1865 to engrave glass in the'antique style' Cork historian Robert Day and Franz Tieze collaborated in supplying goblets to a ready market of glass collectors. Day researched Irish Volunteer glass designs and Jacobite toasting glasses. Tieze's engraving skills allowed the work to be categorised as"historicist" Thomas Rohan. Georgian red wine glass. It measures 11.5 cms high. The stem is facet cut. The base measures 5.3/4 cms and the pontil in finished. The glass has some charm; it has lots of bubbles and contours around the bowl and the base is a little uneven around the rim. It is in perfect condition except for a small scratch to the bowl. Antique Nippon wine jug owl on branch with glass eyes green mark
This Nippon wine jug is in the scarce owl on a branch pattern. The owl has glass eyes. The wine jug is 6 ¾ inches high. The handle is decorated in moriage fashion. The piece has a green mark on the bottom. This dates to the late 19 th or early 20 th century. We do not have the lid. There are no chips. Cracks or repairs, but there is light soiling on the bottom half. There are three beads missing on the bottom part of the handle. The shipping cost includes signature confirmation and insurance. A pair of very good quality early to mid Victorian Green Wine Glasses see my other listing( 231010624306) They each have 7 oval headed facet cut panels on the bowl that start from the 7 facet cut inverted baluster knop stem which in turn leading down to conical feet that have ground& polished pontil depressions to the otherwise flat underside. These glasses are UV reactive and react beautifully when lit up under UV. The condition of both is excellent. There are no cracks or chips. There are the odd integral bubbles in keeping with the glass blowing techniques of the period& with virtually no signs of wear. The glasses are in the lovely. Hand cut fern and flower pattern. The glasses have a'T' shaped gadget mark to foot that is typical of the mid to late Victorian period. These hand blown glasses have some bubbles in the glass. Which is also typical of the period. Each glass stands approximately 10.0cm(4.0 inches) tall and is 5.0cm(2.0 inches) diameter at the opening. Offers are invited for this beautiful pair of antique. Silver topped, wine decanters made around 1851 They are in very nice order. Some minor damage to the stoppers, almost as expected. Hallmarks are for Birmingham 1851. Makers mark is MH. I believe this is Henry Morton, date letter for 1851. The hand blown Bristol Blue and Bristol Green Glass is in superb order. No dings or cracks, pontil mark to base. The Silver work is gorgeous. With grapes and foliate design, the stoppers are in good order excepting damage as shown. A Superb Antique Victorian Bristol Blue Claret Wine Jug-Ornate Handle & Stopper
This superb Antique Victorian Bristol Blue Claret or Wine Jug dates I believe to around 1880 or thereabouts. It has a Silver Plated Handle. Collar and Stopper, which over the years the Silver Plate has become worn, but this is still beautiful as is, with the detail crisp. The Glass is in wonderful. Undamaged condition, free from chips or cracks and with the only signs of wear commensurate with age and use being some remnants of Silver Plate cleaner to the inside and a few very minor air bubbles which were present during the production process. The Handle and Stopper are attractive and ornate. The Claret Jug stands approximately 10.5 inches high to the top of the Stopper and it measures around 5 inches across from the lip to the back of the handle. The Jug weighs approximately 641 grams. Pristine set of 6 antique French crystal wine rinsers. That historically and when appropriate may also be used as finger bowls. These were a gift to my wife from(the original) Conrad Hilton's widow many years ago. They are one of 3 sets(each of the other sets number only 4) that were gifted. I expect to list the other 2 sets if there is sufficient interest here. Condition is excellent as I could not find any chips, cracks or even scratches. Pair of Antique Victorian Trumpet Bowl Wine Glasses Gadget mark Mid- late 19thC Antique 19th C Trumpet Bowl Wine Glass With A Plain Foot and Gadget Mark. Offered for sale with no reserve! Here we have lovely examples of mid to late Victorian hand blown glass. A pair of trumpet bowl wine glasses on a plain foot with a gadget mark on the base. The gadget was a tool used for a short period from about 1860 to 1890 to hold the glass whilst it was being made. The tool was to replace the pontil and pontil iron and has a distinctive"Y" or"J" impression on the base of the foot. Sometimes accompanied with two lines on the top of the foot. These two glasses were made either for a pub(public house) or for the less well off to use. They are charming. Cheap, simple yet elegant form. There is quite a lot of wear marking to the base. ... moreThe glasses have tooling marks and have some bubble inclusions. They are of a slightly differnet size and colour. They measure approximately 3 3/4 inches high. 1 3/4 inches diameter at the rim and have a base diameter of 2 inches. They are in very good order. They weigh 171g unpacked. A nice set of 6 rummer type goblets. They are antique and date to the late 19th century around 1890 and copy the style of earlier Anglo-Irish style glasses from around 1820. The generous bowls make for large red wine glasses. Or of course they can be used for ale or even spirits. The bowls are cut with diamonds and an upper band of oval lenses. The short stems are knopped and the feet are conical and have star cutting. Nice traditional style goblets which are fine to use today and versatile with the large bowl size. Lead glass construction. Please scroll down the page to see additional photographs of this item. 9 Antique Anglo Irish Glass Double Spout Wine Rinsers Presented is an interesting and rare set of 9 Anglo-Irish cut glass or crystal wine rinsers from the second half of the 1700s or possibly the early 1800s. These pieces are classic in design and are most likely originally from Ireland. Wine rinsers were a common sight on a table during an elaborate meal in the 18th century. A different wine was often served with every course and each person had their own wine glass rinser. Each one is cut with typical Anglo-Irish diamond cut designs along the sides and they all have a double spout form. The cutting and design are typical of the mid to late 1700s. Even into the early 1800s. All 9 pieces have a beautiful ring/tone. This old set is in excellent condition. The bottoms show ... moresome surface wear. But this is inconsequential as it is on the underside. The wear on the underside is actually nice to see, especially on pieces of this age. There are very minor surface scratches and fleabites here and there on some of the wine rinsers. There are no chips, no cracks, no splits, no breaks and no repairs. Superb Rare Antique Victorian Petal Flute Cut Fluted Wine Glass c. 1850
This is a superb Victorian wine glass from the mid C19 th. The glass is formed in a two part construction with a drawn conical bowl finished with hand cut petal flutes starting from 1/3 rd up the stem and extending to the lower part of the bowl. The solid conical base has been made separately and fitted to the base of the stem. It is finished with a ground off pontil mark. There are small air inclusions and distinct striations throughout the glass. Condition is very good indeed with no chips or cracks and rings when tapped. There is normal general surface wear to the glass commensurate with the great age and use. Felder, on"Dorflinger" appears to bear the same motifs exhibited in this set of six(6) wine glasses we are offering. And. Knowing well that Dorflinger and Hawkes often cut and bought blanks and patterns from each other, such as the very well known"Strawberry Diamond" pattern. We researched further to identify these beautiful American Brilliant Period cut glass(1870-1916) stems: after they tested positive for lime green phosphorescence under black light. Hawkes created a pattern ... moreof glassware for the White House in 1937, in which he modified an American Brilliant Period design to include the White House emblem. It is photographed in Spillman on Page 237. Our glasses have been cut using the motifs from either pattern. The basic pattern is that of very fine fully cut and faceted miters.Or flutes, pointed on either end. In slightly varied heights. with two miter bands traveling around the the mid area of each glass: Each enhanced with minutely faceted diamonds fully around. The Dorflinger piece illustrated is a cut to clear ruby bell. The Hawkes. A sherry wine glass. Although not marked. The six stems have been cut in the same motifs and exhibit the excellent quality of craft and design associated with both Hawkes and Dorflinger. Please understand without a signature. INTERESTING& Beautiful PAIR Antique ENAMELLED WINE GLASSES. BIRDS, LOBMEYR, a/f Intriguing and rather beautiful pair of antique enamelled wine glasses; probably 19th century. Finely blown lead glass. Interestingly shaped bowls on applied hollow stem/foot, bowls with 5 sections of applied pinched frill glass decoration. All handpainted in white enamel with panels of birds and flowers amongst foliage; the detail is really rather fine. Nicely flat cut and polished rims. I am unsure of the age/ origin of these glasses although I think they could be Lobmeyr/Bohemian pieces. These glasses are a little worn but are surely worth saving.One glass is missing one section of applied frill. No further damage; decoration generally well preserved(if a little discoloured/dirty) The other glass has a small chip to the rim and a few fleabites to the foot ... morerim; decoration is a little rubbed in places. An Antique Richardsons Wine Glass & Claret Jug Decanter Set - Victorian c1860
A fine quality mid 19th century antique claret jug and goblet set. The glassware is from the Richardsons factory and the jug and goblets have matching etched and frosted decoration in the form of stylised leaves. The goblets are of generous capacity for the period and feature flute cut stems and feet with star cutting. Both the jug and glasses are made from good quality lead glass. The claret jug has a strap type handle and an applied foot. It is quite heavily constructed which adds to the feel of quality. The jug holds over a standard bottle of wine and the set would have been used for claret. Red wine etc in its day. The glasses and jug stand on a mahogany stand which has silver plated galleried sides with swagged details of grapes and vine leaves. The swagged sections can swivel in the pillars. Antique 19th c.small rummer wine glass or goblet with square foot
I have for sale a small glass Rummer or goblet dating to mid 19 th century. The glass stands 12.5 cm(5 inches) high. Has a rim diameter of 7 cm and sits on a square foot 6.5 cm by 6.5 cm. The glass has a funnel shaped bowl on a short stem with a blade knop at the top finishing in a domed base which sits on the foot. The foot is square of the“lemon squeezer” form. The thickness of the glass foot is 0.8 cm. It is made of hand blown English lead glass of good weight and has an excellent ring when“pinged” The rummer is in very good condition with no chips cracks or restoration. I accept payment by PayPal. Pretty Antique 19thC Enamelled Daisies Sherry Wine Small Drinks Glass Decanter A sweet onion/baluster shaped small drinks decanter hand enamelled with a jewelled/beaded band of stylised daisies in buttermilk and vibrant flowers/daisies and foliage in orange and white. Above and below, on a footed base. It is complete with its original hollow blown spire stopper. It is in fine condition with no chips cracks stains fleabites or damage. All of the enamel work is intact(any gilding has long gone) and the glass itself has nice striations and swirls within it from the blowing and crafting. The stopper has expected minute light nibbling around the plug end and the base is finished with an older style cracked off/rough pontil. Est late 19thC. N.B.
