Antique Victorian Bird Cage of Intricately Detailed House Made of Metal Wood What a really nice decorative piece. Look at how the wood was put together on both the roof and bottom of the base. This item was never meant to be a cage of birds. Would have always been a decorative item. A nice porcelain parrot comes with it as well. Just check out all the windows and door in this one. The small bars are metal. I would say the wood is something similar to rosewood. But you be the judge. There are certainly some issues to report on condition. The widow's walk or turret at the top of the house is loose from it. Some tiles in the roof are missing, one of the four yellow fobs that hangs from the corners of the roof is loose and in the cage, and another is missing. Some of the wood pieces and bars are loose and in cage. Not sure if all the pieces ... morethat are off the house are there or not. One of the sides(non-bay window) where the windows stick out, is a little loose from the rest of the cage and will need some attention. Also, someone decided to make it into a light at some time. However, that did not affect the integrity of the piece, the bulb, cable and chain could be easily removed. This piece was originally made to sit on a table based upon the four rounded small feet on it. I can see the vestiges of some blue. Brown, and green paints on the roof of the cage. The cage has a fence around the entire house that is attached to the bottom tray that is all there. There are then four metal fobs that are intact at the four corners of these walls. The bottom tray of the cage can be removed by opening the four brass latches that attach it to the rest of the house. The inside wood in the base of the cage shows some splitting from age. The antique bird cage is 24" tall, by 20.5" across by 17" wide. This piece will take extra time and care to pack for safe shipping. FEATURES: A rare and lovely antique French folk art small traveling bird cage. It was appraised by an antiques appraiser(member AOA) and was determined to date to 1850- 1900. Hand carved wood and tin. The sides are carved with flowers and birds. Each side has words in French. NOS PINSONS and CHANTEURS. Translates to: Our Singing Finches or Our Finches Singers. It has a handle(brass ornate) on the top with vertical wires in the front. It is footed and stands 13" tall and is 10.5" wide by 8.25 deep at the top. Please note that the last picture is a photo of an advertisement from an auction house dated 1985. The bird cage shown in the advertisement is called"a rare sailor made traveling bird cage" ... moreand is a bit smaller than the one I am listing. HALLMARKS: NON PINSONS CHANTEURS. The box is made of leather and has some gold gilding. There is a 3 1/2" x 2 3/8" pietra dura plaque set into the lid. The plaque has a black background and is inlaid with a bird. There are at least 8 different types of stone that are used on this piece. The box measures 5" in length. 3 7/8" in depth, and is 2" in height. This plaque is in great condition with no chips, cracks, breaks, or repairs. The leather has some wear and minor losses as you can see in the photos. Overall measurements are 27" x 11-3/4" x 11-3/4" The brass cage door is 7-3/4" x 3-1/2" The bars. Hardware and top finial are all solid brass. The cage has a hanging brass rod perch(8-1/2" suspended by two 7" chains. I believe the wood is called wormwood. Because of its grooved appearance. No cracks in the wood. The dark areas on wood are the nature of the wood. Wood is solid. No decay. It has 4 wood balled feet. I didn't want to mess with the brass's patina so the brass has not been cleaned. Victorian Lady's Bust with Bird Chalk Ware Plaster Antique
Wonderful plaster chalk ware lady's bust statue is up for auction. It has Victorian styling and may be from that period but I am unsure. It is old and has accumulated a lot of dust. There are two areas with slight chipping where you can see the difference in the color of the underlying plaster. They are shown in two of the pictures. I have not tried to clean it. It is 9 1/4 inches tall by about 5 1/4 inches wide. There are no marks on the bottom. The lady. The bird, the hair and the dress are all so lovely and romantic. Considering how fragile these plaster figures are I consider it in good condition with the major condition issue in my opinion the dirt that has accumulated. I bought this many years ago because I liked it and really know nothing of its origin or age. But I believe it to be quite old. It is unmarked. The clasp works fine, it closes securely and there is a push button to open the case. There is a raised, highly carved center mother of pearl panel on the top of the case with a bird and flowers design. It is beautiful. There is one horizontal crack in this panel near the top. Haunted Antique Bird Cage
This very old antique bird cage was found in the basement of a Victorian Home that was built in the 1800's. The owner informed us that the man who had originally bought the cage fell in love with his birds so much that it was rumored that he found a way to bring them back to life using a special formula and voltage like a Frankenstein for birds. Apparently it wasn't permanent because the birds died soon after their master. When we were called to the house the owner complained of hearing birds chirping in her basement everyday but whenever she would send an exterminator down there they would never be able to find anything. I have here a lovely Large Chinese hand fan with a Bird Decor on a red background. The timber is exquisite and the minute details are perfectly hand carved. the painting is just perfectly painted although there is a little wear it is still wonderful. The fan is in very good condition and in perfect functionality and complete. Antique Hand Painted Comb/broken but cool bird
Antique 5" approximately) comb with fantastic brown and coral bird with an equally vivid coral beak. There is a small winding flower vine near the beak. The comb has obvious issues: missing teeth. Remaining teeth misshapen from age. Left end surface seems rubbed and a small portion missing from the right side including a few tail feathers. Badly repaired end of lower feathers with glue. Even still, maybe you like this comb enough to bid on it.

It appears to be made of cow horn and was made in three parts: the top body, the bottom body and the wing. The bird's eye is in a silvered metal. The latter(the wing) is hinged and lifts up to access the hole beneath. I found that this does not close fully and dop not wish to force it. A truly unique piece. I can’t tell if there is overall fading or if the soft coloring was original to the print. I had this hanging in my home for many years and honestly can’t recall if the colors used to be brighter. The wood frame has a gold gilt paint finish with the texture of carved ridges/lines all the way around on the front. The lower right corner nail of the frame needs to be tapped together with a hammer(see picture) Yet the picture is tight in the frame- it does not move. HENDRYX Antique vintage brass bird cage 1905 rotary feeders RARE drilled rails
Welcome to my auction. Today you are looking at an antique/vintage brass bird cage from The Andrew B. Hendryx Co. It has a unique design and rotating feeder cup holders. The door and the base of the cage are both labeled with the Hendryx name. It is in excellent used condition. This unique cage deviates from the usual Hendryx brass bird cages. Most of the Hendryx brass cages have the upright bars secured to the horizontal rails with the use of rivets. This cage is one of a trio introduced in 1905 which has drilled rails. This means that the horizontal rails were drilled to allow the vertical bars to slip through them. This cage was patented May 16. 1905. Using my Hendryx trade catalogs to date this cage, the cage is present in the 1930 catalog, but not found in the 1932 catalog. This means that this cage was manufactured between 1905 and ... moreright before 1932. This cage is in wonderful shape for being 80-110 years old! If you are a serious bird cage collector and are looking for a unique Hendryx cage. This may be the cage for you! Another unique aspect to this cage is that it has removable screen seed guards. I've never seen them like this before. There are little bars that the bottom fits into and the top is held with right-angle hooks that slide over the guard. The cage includes a brass finial base and loop. The loop has an original Hendryx spring attached. This cage can be placed on a table top or hung from a bird cage stand. The door closes with a latch and t he door spring is functioning. The rotating feeder holders are present on either side of the cage. One is intact and the other one needs repair with some glue. The top and bottom have come loose from the cup part of the feeder. Glue will easily fix this. I am saving this for the new owner. They rotate outward to expose the feeder cups for cleaning and filling. Then rotate back and latch. There is a bar at the top of the feeder holder which can be lifted to remove the holder. Antique Victorian Museum Taxidermy Albino Woodpecker Bird Glass Dome Oddity RARE
An antique taxidermy albino wood pecker under a glass dome. I believe the bird is a Red Bellied wood pecker. The bird measures approximately 9" long. Overall the glass dome measures approximately 11" tall and the base measures 8" in diameter. The bird is in good condition. Free from damage with just a bit of aging in the tip of the tail feathers, the glass dome and solid wood base is also in good, damage-free condition.please see pictures. The glass dome has some paper residue on it so it will need a more thorough cleaning.
