Made of brilliant gilt bronze, by Alexandre Chertier(French, 1825- 1890) Chertier, a specialist in ecclesiastical work in silver and bronze received a gold medal as coopirateur at the Exposition Universelle of 1855 while working as foreman at the House of Bachelet in Paris. In 1857 he founded his own firm at 48, rue Mazarin, moving to 7, rue Firu in 1866. His important works, produced after 1870, include those for the church of Mont-Saint-Michel, and for the cathedrals of Saint-Omer, Reims, Moulins and Strasbourg. This substantialy made bronze stand measures 9.5 inches high. 15 x 17 inches at the base, 12 x13.5 at the top. I have pictured it with a modern marble top, which I will include if requested. I do not believe the original piece ever had such a top, but it helps accomodate a larger size of sculpture

They are made of very heavy paper and are in excellent condition. They were bought by my mother in a Paris flea market in the 1960's and framed later in the 1970's. This is an Rare Antique French Burl Walnut Wood Tantalus with 4 fine crystal decanters& 13 cordials. The hinged burl walnut case has some very ornate brass. Wood, and MOP design, panels opening to the fitted gilt ormolu bronze holder consisting of four etched fine cut crystal glass decanters with original stoppers and eight matching etched liqueur cordials glasses and five that are not matching, one open spot with a glass missing. All the glassware is in excellent condition. The wooden case very minor issues put for the most part is in excellent condition for its age. The box measures 11" high x 13" wide x 10" deep. There are no chips or cracks to any of the glassware. All questions welcome.

FABULOUS 19TH C. MINIATURE FRENCH ENAMEL SLEIGH - RARE!
Welcome to Antiques& Moore! This listing is for a STUNNING 19th Century French enamel miniature sleigh with gilt runners and a gilded eagle mounted on the front. Measures 4 1/2" long. 2 1/4" high and 1 7/8" wide. Both the interior and exterior on the sleigh are elaborated decorated with fine enameled designs. The exterior is a deep ruby red with gilt embellishments and is decorated with a courting scene on each side. The interior is completely decorated with a landscape scene that includes a lake with a garden in the foreground and part of a castle with mountains in the background. This entire scene is done in beautiful pastel colors. This stunning miniature sleigh is absolutely fabulous! The details in the enamel work. The gilt design and structure of the runners and mounting of the eagle in front that appears as if in ... moreflight combine to make an elaborate work of art. The overall condition is exceptional. There are a couple of very fine stress lines in the enamel just behind the back curve of the sleigh that are only noticed with magnification. There is also an area where the body of the sleigh is mounted to the runners that has a very minor amount of missing enamel. This area looks original and the mounting is perfect. However, this tiny area of lost enamel may indicate that at some time this mounting was modified. This is mentioned for accuracy as there is no visible sign of any repair just the unexplaned tiny area of missing enamel. Looking at the incredible painting on the inside of the sleigh and at the beautifully enameled exterior body. This miniature is totally exquisite! It's hard to believe that there is not a signature somewhere on this elaborately enameled piece but we find no signature. This type work was done in several European countries in the mid to late 1800s including France. Austria and Italy. Lovely PAPIER MACHE BOWL w/Large Bird Decoration - FRENCH -ITALIAN - 19TH CENT
I do not know the history of this papier mache bowl but I do know it is very old. This piece is painted in green and red with a huge dark green bird in the middle with darker green accented black on its wing. The bird is sitting between two large green sculpted trees. There is a green stripe close to the top that is decorated with a yellow design and a yellow stripe below. The underside of the bowl has a really dark green almost black. Black bird. It is bordered on the sides and bottom with yellow and green flowers with red centers. This underside also has the same green stripe with the yellow pattern. I do not know why but this has a French or Italian feel to me. But you will need to be the judge of that. The bowl is oval and does not sit flat- leans to the front- I imagine it was for a decorative purpose rather than a utilitarian one. On ... morethe outside of the bowl rim there is quite a bit of chipped off layers of papier mache. But only on the rim. Other than that the bowl is beautiful and unique. If someone on ebay knows about this item we would love for you to help us out. NOTE: Since writting the listing I have found a signature on the bottom below the birds foot. I thought it was just more of the design. Under a loop it reads'COLTINO" I believe that is how it is spelt. I am cleaning out an estate and selling many items that I know little to nothing about so please ask lots of questions there are probably many things I am unaware of to include in a description especially on this little lady. I was told she was hand carved in a town named Dieppe in France and was brought home with a soldier after the war. i have two carvings however the other has a tiny arm missing so I thought if there is any interest in this one I may list the other if its worth the time. As far as I can see this girl looks to be in good condition. The carving is incredible the detail is unbelievable in this tiny size. I can't find any chips or breaks the only thing I see is some dirt here and there and some kind of residue on the back of the column and a tiny bit around her skirt which I have shown in the photos.
